It's the year of Kaijū-inspired games, it seems, with developer Goody Gameworks (and publisher HeadUp) confirming in our Nintendo Life Indie Spotlight that Gigapocalypse is heading to Switch soon; it'll land on 2nd June.
Inspired by 'Rampage', you customise and care for a monster that then go on a rampage to 'destroy everything', ideally with as much style as possible. There'll also be boss fights and activities beyond stomping cities, and it's got a fantastic sense of style to backup the mayhem.
It's already been positively received on Steam, and below are some official details.
Now you become that giant monster in Gigapocalypse, a 2D pixel art destruction game, inspired by classical Kaijū movies such as “Godzilla” and “King Kong” and the game classic “Rampage”.
Gigapocalypse features a selection of different “Gigas” from the Prehistoric era, the uncharted outer space and the forgotten history. Each with unique skills, mutations and manifold skins that can be unlocked with level ups.
Is this one for the wishlist? Let us know, as always, in the comments.

This looks like what I wanted Dawn of the Monsters to be. Everything about it looks really good so far, and I'm excited to see more.
While nice, it kinda feels like the monsters are on-rail as if they are auto walking. Hopefully that's not the case, I remember getting excited for that old Godzilla the Series game on Game Boy Color only to find out Godzilla is on-rail and I only had control of his limbs and arms which is disappointing.
Can't tell if this is a grinder (reviews on Steam say yes) or a kind of endless runner. Love the idea, and the art style. Could be a good pick-up and play game for Switch.
You wait decades for a Giga brawler and 2 come along in quick succession. I wish Hamster would give us Rampage.
I pick up anything with kaiju, so I'll add this to the list!
Not sure I quite understand how it plays, but I like big monsters!
This looks like some auto runner for mobile..I'm sure there's more to it than that but looks like it would get stale fast. I like the tamagotchi aspect of it, but Dawn of the Monsters looks way more enjoyable.
@SteamEngenius Yeah, this looks quite bad. I'd rather just play Rampage on NES.
