Ubisoft has confirmed that it has been the target of a cyber attack.
The company confirmed the incident via a statement on its website, stating that the "cyber security incident" caused "temporary disruption" to some of its games, systems, and services.
The good news, however, is that there is currently no evidence that any player personal information has been exposed as a by-product of the attack.
Ubisoft's IT teams are currently working with leading external experts to investigate the incident. The publisher has also initiated a company-wide password reset as a precautionary measure.
It seems Ubisoft has gotten off fairly lightly in comparison to recent attacks on other publishers, with EA previously losing an alleged 780GB of data, and Capcom losing 1TB of data.

Choose carefully which services get to store your credit card details, folks.
I think I'm starting to notice a pattern with these attacks.
The last major one was on CDProjektRed, hot off the heels of the disastrous launch of CP2077. Ubisoft themselves have been in major controversy as well recently with the treatment of their employees and developers. We might see Square Enix or even Nintendo be the subject of something like this in the near future if this pattern has merit.
I would sincerely hope not since these situations are terrible for everyone involved but it is a possibility somewhat.
Expect a LOT more of this in the future. You can probably guess why.
@Fizza If this is a response to Ubisoft's mistreatment (and even then, that word seems super mild here), then Activision might be next. If I remember correctly, their skeletons came out of the closet before Square released that NFT email or Nintendo announced the eShop closures.
On a side note, all these abuses mix together, and I might be wrong about the order of things. It's mentally exhausting.
At least my save data is safe.
So that's why the Rayman Legends servers stopped working on Wii U.
@Fizza
Nvidia was hacked a week ago - in fact, some Switch successor info came out of that hack.
@dystome never ever save credit card information. It's a pain to enter the information every time you shop, but it's a security matter. If you think you need to keep it saved for same reason (Samsung/Apple pay, etc) use a virtual credit card and reset it's info if anywhere you save it get compromised
It's a good thing I used the airplane mode trick for Assassin's Creed so as to not have to create a login.
