The press blitz for the Sonic 2 movie is in full swing, and that means plenty of interviews with the cast – including James Marsden and Ben Schwartz, the latter of whom provides Sonic's voice in this and its forerunner.
As you might imagine for a movie based on a video game, the topic of video games cropped up in a recent interview, and the pair gave some encouraging answers when asked which titles they loved the most.
Schwartz lists JRPGs like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy III (technically Final Fantasy VI) as two of his personal faves, while Marsden says he spent "around 2% of his life" playing GoldenEye 007. He also lists Mario Kart, Sonic and Contra as titles he recalls playing in his younger years.

I have seen Ben Schwartz in Parks and Recreation and in Game Grumps, he's an awesome dude!

Of course, whenever I hear about James Marsden, I only have one thing to say: magic, wing, feather, MAYONNAISE!!!!
@maulinks Yes, I used to see him on the occasional College Humor video a long long time ago (could be almost 15 years ago now). That site wasn't great but he was always very good. I'm glad he's doing well now - and seems like a lovely person. And he's a perfect Sonic.
I'd really recommend The Afterparty - TV show he was in this year. But it's a murder mystery - so best to avoid spoilers if you watch that one.
And just when I thought I couldn't love Ben more.
@maulinks If you enjoy Ben and his comedic style I would recommend Middleditch and Schwartz on Netflix. Its long form improve and its very good.
@Zeropulse there's an episode of Game Grumps during the height of the pandemic where they play Quiplash online with Schwartz and Middleditch, they did mention their show on Netflix but I never got around to seeing it, I'll check it out!

In addition to Ben Schwartz being a really nice and humble guy, he definitely has a lot of nerd cred for video games, comics, and toys. He's such a joy.
@maulinks Oooh, Quiplash. I loved watch Achievement Hunter's videos of Quiplash. Those were funny. I may have to check it out!
