Metroidvania fans can often rejoice at the offerings they get on Switch, and it looks like another one might be coming our way! F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch has been rated for the console in Taiwan, as highlighted by Gematsu.
The game stars an anthropomorphic ex-pilot bunny who must make his way through Torch City. We know that sounds cute and cuddly, but F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch is anything but. Boasting difficult platforming and tough-as-nails arcade-style combat, this is one Metroidvania that will get your cottontail in a spin.
The game launched on PS4, PS5, and PC last year, and from the sounds of the reviews, it definitely punches above its weight!
If you're unfamiliar with the game, here's an overview of what to expect straight from the Steam page:
After the animals of Torch City were defeated by the invading Robotic Legion in the Resistance War six years ago, former Resistance fighter Rayton the rabbit has kept a low profile. The arrest of a friend meant he had no choice but to put on his giant metal fist and fight against those oppressing him. Little did he know that he would soon be caught up in a maelstrom of conspiracies involving the Legion, the Resistance, and the Rat Gang.
Seamless Maps Filled with Challenges to Explore
Explore more than a dozen unique areas in a Action Platformer style map. The core combat, puzzle-solving, and platform mechanics are complemented by countless hidden rooms, secret passages, and shortcuts, with all kinds of rewarding challenges for players to complete. Maps are loaded on the fly to avoid frequent transitions, making the massive Torch City feel even more detailed and alive. An Arcade Combat System with Seamless Switching between Three Weapons
The Fist, Drill, and Whip are three weapons with completely different fighting styles that offer seamless switching between high combo, high damage, and long range attacks. Pummel the enemy by choosing the most appropriate form of attack for the situation. Players will be challenged by dozens of distinct types of enemies, each with their own weapons and attacks, all working together to bring the player down. Unique bosses with unusual fighting styles provide a new and unique gaming experience.Diesel-punk Aesthetics Crafted with Unreal Engine 4
The game's diesel-punk aesthetics were inspired by diesel combustion engines that were blended with an Eastern cityscape from a bygone era to give Torch City a signature one-of-a-kind visual feel. The stark contrast between furry animals and sterile mechanical soldiers introduce the theme of conflict in the game story. The realistic 3D visuals powered by Unreal Engine 4 combined with Physically-Based Rendering take the Action Platformer genre to a whole new level of graphics quality.
Chinese developers TiGames, or publisher Bilibili haven't officially commented on this yet. Hopefully we'll hear some news of this hopping over to Switch soon, but for now, we'll just have to hold back those punches. In the meantime, here's a story trailer for the PS4 version:

Maybe it’s my video quality but the characters need outlines maybe
Awesome!
I was looking at getting this for my PS4 but if they port it well I will get it for Switch instead.
Just bought Deaths Gambit Definitive Edition so that will keep me busy.
Loving all the Metroidvania games on Switch.
Indie direct incoming!
I'm afraid to see what a switch port would end up looking like..
Looks good, but does look a bit confusing during battles as to which character you are controlling.
Hopefully a physical will appear, but not holding my breath.
@SteamEngenius Cloud Version, probably. If so, then that's bad.
I could have sworn this was already out on switch... Or at least announced
Can't decide whether nobody told them, or they absolutely know.
I imported a copy(Ps4) ......but it ended up in my back catalogue.
I probably would have prefered a portable version even if it takes a performance/graphical compromise.
A switch port would look like a muddy mess.
I've been interested in this since way before it released. However, I rarely play games on the TV anymore, so I haven't bought it on PS4. A Switch port would certainly interest me, although the amazing graphics need to be left in tact since I feel like that's a significant selling point with this one.
Good to hear. There are plenty of metroidvanias on Switch, but there's no such thing as too many metroidvanias on Switch. :3
@Moistnado the utter blackness of an almost always turned-off TV screen above a home console can't boast looking much better, can it? That's why people invest in third party Switch ports regardless of graphics.
@HollowSpectre might be thinking of Grime? Another PS4/5 metroidvania with a single syllable name.
Not sure if I would call this a Metroidvania? It seems missing the platform part that you will find in a Metroidvania. Looks more like a beat 'em up ala Streets of Rage.
@Scrubicius There is platforming in the game but regardless, that term more describes a game having a large connected map that opens up through gaining new abilities and backtracking- doesn’t necessarily have to be a platformer. Arkham Asylum for example
@mmakara81 Grime is pc only at this point. It has been announced for summer 22 for switch. There is no concrete news of playstation ports.
This has been in my recommended games for a while and I keep ignoring it because I'm not a furry, but it actually looks pretty awesome.
Looks fantastic, although the Switch version will look less (but hopefully will still be good).
@LittleGhost i stand corrected! for some reason i thought it was PS, but maybe i confused it with FIST haha
