If there's one video game accessory that's been unfairly ignored over the decades, it's console clothing. We live in a world where people will happily dress up their pets without any fear of rebuke, so why not their beloved gaming systems, too?
It would seem that, once upon a time in Japan, someone thought this might catch on because we've just spotted this gorgeous thing on Twitter:
Yes, that is what you think it is. A coat for your SNES (well, Super Famicom in this case, but we're all friends here). There's a flap that's secured with velcro which can be lifted up to reveal the cartridge slot and eject button, and the controller ports are exposed at the front. There's even a hole in the fabric to allow the power light to shine through. It's a masterpiece.
While we've not been able to say for sure, it would seem that this is an official product. Can you shed any more light on this amazing piece of gaming merchandise? Would you be keen to dress up your games console in clothing? Let us know in the comments.

Easiest way : Just wrap your SNES machine with a small quilt / blanket.
I imagine this didn't take off for fire safety reasons. I mean, older consoles didn't get AS hot, but still....
Aw man, a Gamecube Tea Cozy!
A GCardigan or something?
Well... Super Famicom in coat looks cute. 🙂
@The_BAAD_Man Trust me, it's fine, the only component that goes anything significant above room temperature on Super Famicom is the voltage regulator, and it is not too much.
The original power supply gets really hot, but it is external, so no problems there either.
It's a dust cover...

@abdias In that case, these should be mandatory!
So you mean my console has been naked all these years??? Groovy!
That's nothing, I used to put 3 socks on my favourite N64 controller!
Clothing shouldn’t leave ports exposed
Actually helpful against sun and so against yellowing.
@CharBar so this ia basically lingerie for your console then?
Imagine, Super Famicom blanket. That's unnaturally confusing, but I kinda like it.
@countzero it’s ready to be turned on
