Arguably the standout game on the Nintendo Switch last year was Metroid Dread. It won awards, and is currently on the cusp of becoming the best-selling entry in the Metroid series, having already sold 2.74 million units.
With all this success, now is a great time to give Samus a new action figure - and that's exactly what Good Smile is planning to do. During the online exhibition 'WonHobby35', it announced a Samus Aran figma based on her Metroid Dread design.
There are no other details just yet, but as you can see in the tweet below it's "coming soon". It follows on from yesterday's Metroid Dread game update, which added a new one-hit-kill Dread Mode and much easier Rookie Mode.

Excuse me if I’m ignorant… but what the hell is a figma? 😅
@Lemonyoshi Sigma with a lisp.
I'd be more interested in a Nendoroid Samus.
Off topic.....sort of but I got to the last boss Raven Beak yesterday and holy hell I could not beat that guy for the life of me. I had to give up in the end so how the hell you're supposed to beat him in Dread Mode is beyond me.
On topic no probably not.
@nessisonett ligma? 🤔
@Lemonyoshi Graphics editor of some kind as far as I can make out. Don't worry I had to look it up too.
I might get this if I can secure one. I would've preferred Raven Beak though.
@Lemonyoshi It's a Japanese action figure.
@Liam_Doolan Thank you. Google just kept telling me it was a graphics tool.
Would have much rather’d a nendoroid, I mean, come on, think of a Cute Samus, do we even have a Metroid nendoroid, I mean, I think we do, but I’m not sure.
@Lemonyoshi My ⚽️. But for real is a Japanese action figure, I have no idea what ruby was talking about.
Edit: please don’t remove my comment because of the joke, if it’s to risk please ask me to just edit it, because I will.
I think I'm OK with the amiibo, but it's nice that the Dread Suit is getting some love.
@Lemonyoshi Figma is the brand Goodsmile has that is realisticallt scaled and posable figures.
They also do their Nendoroid range which are posable chibi figures and Pop Up Parade which are smaller statues, about 180mm or 7 iches tall
I have the Metroid Prime figma. Absolutely gunning for this as soon as it's available
The figure is cool but the game sucked which is a shame
@NWC Just curious but what didn't you like about it? Admittedly I thought that at first mainly due to the difficulty but I'm glad I gave it a chance and made it to the end because it feels very satisfying. I may not have beaten the last boss yet, but I will.
@Lemonyoshi a posable Japanese figure to be precise. As compared to your typical non posable ones that are common.
@NWC There’s a difference between you personally not liking something and it not being objectively good. It’s hard to argue that it’s not a well made game and general consensus is that it absolutely does not suck.
@Lemonyoshi It isn't real; it's just a figma of your imagination.
At first I thought this said "Good Feel," and I thought Nintendo stealth-dropped a new 2D Metroid game by the makers of Epic Yarn and Woolly World a day after the Direct. Samus' Epic Pottery, anyone?
Surprise we’re getting this whole BOTW Link still hasn’t happened.
@RubyCarbuncle
They made the game overly difficulty because they tossed out the power scaling in the players favor, you’ll only feel the advantage of super missiles on existing enemies due to them not being an separate ammo pool where they would do an actual dent on bosses, the health tank system went from being an HP bar to something more akin to the hearts in Zelda one where bosses can utterly shred through it in seconds. Even regardless of all that the game pulls out it’s trump card of QTE nonsense like it came from the mid 2000’s when it was the rage to pin the players success on playing Simon’s Says.
I have the metroid prime inspired figure, will go for this one if i manage to find one at a resonable price
I have the prime one but I really like the dread suit. I miiiiiiiight get this.
@RubyCarbuncle i was the same mate when i first got to him. His pattern is really easy. I got to the stage where i could beat him and not get hit once. You will get there 👍. His 3rd stage is the toughest but when he charges use a super bomb
Who is Steve Jobs?
@RubyCarbuncle A turbo controller is your friend and makes beating old RB a lot easier. How you beat him in Dread mode is totally beyond me too.
A Good Smile Samus would actually be a funny figure. Just her with a goofy Emoji for a face.
The "figma" logo looks more like "Agma"
Not a fan of figures with movable parts. I bought a ton of Figmas and Nendoroids and regretted it later. Now I stick to amiibo and 1/7 scale statue figures.
But... I may have to make an exception here
@SalvorHardin Didn't mind it really but I can understand where you're coming from though. Maybe try the Rookie Mode?
I NEED IT! Heheheh Figma does some great action figures!
@RubyCarbuncle I wasn't able to beat him until I learned that in the third phase you can use a power bomb to destroy his sun attack and get health and ammo. Makes a huge difference.
That's an awful fancy way to say "doll."
Okay seriously, what does it take for Goodsmile/Figma to make figures of other Nintendo characters besides the one's that are currently relevant?
Is it just popularity, is that what's this is all about?
When will they get the message from fans that there are other Nintendo characters from series as popular as Smash Bros. who have their own series that may not be as popular but are still relevant to an extent, like Fox Mccloud or Captain Falcon.
@RubyCarbuncle Keep at it. Soon enough you'll get used to it and he will seem slower. Don't get hit and don't miss the parry opportunities. Tis a difficult boss.
Metroid Figma didn’t disappoint for the last three edition so I’m expecting this to be high quality as well.
@nessisonett wrong the game sucked end of story thanks
@RubyCarbuncle Just found it very boring and got my money back
So it's a large figure ( life size ) or a small figure of samus ? will it cost much. I wonder will nintendo do another samus surprise like they did with dread and release a game like metroid prime blast ball ( but different ) ?
