Co-op play is on the way to Kirby and the Forgotten Land, but one other thing that will apparently be in the game is amiibo support. According to Japan's My Nintendo Store, Kirby's latest adventure will support the popular line of figures.
While there are no details about the amiibo that will be supported or what they will do in-game, it seems Nintendo might have plans to reprint some of the previous Kirby ones. Last week, a user over on Reddit, spotted new listings for the Kirby and Smash Bros. Kirby amiibo - with a re-release possibly taking place at some point next month.
For now though, we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Kirby and the Forgotten Land will arrive on Nintendo Switch on 25th March. Would you be interested in amiibo support in Kirby's new outing? Leave a comment below.

Oh please give us a new kirby amiibo
I'd love to see some new amiibo for some of the one-off Kirby characters. Marx and Susie in particular come to mind, but there are a lot of options to choose from.
I'm really not keen on even more amiibo when the existing ones are criminally underutilised.
And I'm not terribly fond of amiibo functionality that merely spawns power-ups, though I guess some implementation is better than nothing at all. Having Kirby absorb the powers of a wide range of amiibo would be a great use of amiibo, and I think the 3DS games made some similar use of that, though I would prefer that Kirby actually resembles the characters that he absorbs (which would perhaps limit him to Mario/Zelda/Animal Crossing figurines, but there are still a lot of options there to choose from).
7-11 everywhere should do pink Kirby slurpees for the occasion
Time to order more NFC tags.
@VIIIAxel If they make a Marx amiibo, they better make an Engels one too. It’s only fair.
I have a Kirby Smash Bros amiibo, but I would not say no to a new style of Kirby amiibo.
@Silly_G Problem is if the Amiibo functionality is too good/has too good of a feature, then we get another Loftwing Amiibo scenario. The best option would be to, as you said, just give him costumes of the Amiibo scanned. Wooly World did that with Yoshi. That way it has value but not too much value.
@NinChocolate ah yes, nothing like a good cup of Kirbo in the mornin’.
@VIIIAxel Marx would be incredible. He's the only new Kirby character I can think of whose amiibo would be a must-by for me--maybe Magolor and Galacta Knight?
Now I'm thinking about whether other boss characters like Wispy Woods and Kracko could work. Would be cool, but I doubt they can pull it off. Whisky is so tall, and I don't know if I really need a tree in my collection...
There's so many characters from other franchises that also deserve amiibo. So much untapped potential even from Mario and Zelda. The Koopalings alone would break my wallet, but then there's Kamek, King Boo, Petey Piranha, Pokey, Lakitu, E. Gadd, Birdo. And they could do some sick variations like Paper Mario, Yoshi with Baby Mario or Luigi with the Poltergust. Then for Zelda, we have the Happy Mask Salesman, Tetra, Ravio, Tingle, Skull Kid, Ghirahim... That's not to mention Dixie Kong, Cranky, Funky... AHHHH!
I'm glad Nintendo is keeping the toys to life thing alive, but I wish they would do even more, as well as re-release some old sets. Never got Pearl and Marina, and they're expensive as heck on eBay! Maybe reprints to coincide with Splatoon 3. Either way, Nintendo, just please don't make any more Links, okay? Thank you.
I actually have all the Kirby series amiibo!
I would say that it’s my first complete set...but I actually collected all the Mario odyssey amiibo before. (Plus some of the Kirby series amiibo are Japanese imports)
@Not_Soos Marx isn't really new since he's been around since Super Star on the SNES, but otherwise, I do agree he'd be great to see! I'd pick up a Galacta Knight amiibo too, still need to play Return to Dreamland so I can't speak for Magolor just yet. I think the bosses could be interesting as well!
I'd definitely like to see Nintendo branch out more with amiibo, I'm sad they've slowed down a lot on non-Smash amiibo ever since the Animal Crossing line flopped. I'd love to see more Zelda amiibo, although Xenoblade would be my top pick for a series getting more. It has a ton of great characters, it's a shame that it'll probably only get the three for Smash. I also missed out on Pearl and Marina and would love to see a restock for Splatoon 3, they're the only Splatoon amiibo I missed excluding the Splatoon 1 recolors.
@nessisonett You're right, can't have one without the other. I think a line of philosophy amiibo would really help revive the toys to life genre personally.
@Zebetite I mean I bet it’ll just be a power up or something. I only get the amibos for the figures
@VIIIAxel I would kill for a marx amiibo.
@NinChocolate they will in Japan I bet. Japan gets everything cool. They have Kirby cafe
As an avid amiibo collector I actually hope they don't release new ones since there's already so many of them. But if they do release new ones I'll still buy them anyway.
Amiibo support sucks. All it does is give companies an excuse to lock content behind another paywall. My interest in this game just dropped considerably.
really hope we do get reprints of those 4 robobot amiibo I missed out on so I can finally grab them after all these years
@VIIIAxel
Yeah, I didn't mean Marx was a brand-new Kirby character, I meant like a character new to the world of amiibo, lol. Ah, man, Return to Dream Land is my favorite Kirby game! A lot of people say it's vanilla compared to Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot, but it laid the groundwork for those games and was a fantastic return to form for a series that hadn't had a mainline entry on consoles in so long. (I don't really count Epic Yarn, though it's also fantastic.)
It has some of my favorite music in the series, it has more content than the 3DS games both in terms of levels/worlds and side challenges and the co-op is so much fun. Way better than Star Allies; game sucks when you're playing alone imo, since you have to constantly bring in AI characters who make the game mind-numbingly easy.
Like most Kirby games, the story takes a back seat, but if you haven't been spoiled already, it does take an interesting turn. It also has a Hard Mode when you complete the game, so you can go back through and fight re-vamped bosses. This was the first game I know of to include EX boss fights, and they're not just there to reuse assets in the later parts of the game because they're only accessible in the Hard Mode. I also remember it being fairly challenging compared to a lot of Kirby games.
Nintendo is hyping up the 30th anniversary, so I really hope we get a collection of the 2.5D games; would be awesome! But knowing them, it'll be $60 for a 6MB collection of the GameBoy games only available for a limited time and with no Game Boy NSO in the near future or something stupid like that.
Yeah, I have all the other Splatoon amiibo I want. I didn't get the alternate colors of the boy/girl variants, but I also didn't get the Octolings or the squid-form ones. Like the Link amiibo, they really need to stop making so many boy/girl avatar ones, lol.
Great to hear, because I have many amiibo, including all Kirby ones, and the amiibo support has been disappointing in the last few years.
@DrDaisy The vast majority of Amiibo functionality hasn't been anything to lose interest in a game over, though.
Given his popularity in Japan I'm kind of amazed we don't have Kirby ability amiibo, even as cards. Their functionality would be pretty straightforward too: scan then and get the ability!
I'd love a little set of Kirby with his different abilities or a little card collection!
amiibo support is good, a lot of people have a lot of amiibo, and ALL of the Kirby characters do need a reprint b/c they are all but impossible to find, Nintendo really does love keeping the scalpers happy.🤑
I'd say what the game doesn't need is new game specific amiibo, that would suck and continue to go against what Nintendo said amiibo were, 1 toy for many games, which made them better than all of the other 1 toy for 1game toys to life collectibles.
It's ok if they want to make a new design Kirby amiibo, as long as the older Kirby amiibo unlock the same features as the new ones. If they put out new Kirby etc amiibo and the old ones don't function the same in game they can keep their game. And that's coming from someone who doesn't even have a single Kirby series amiibo yet. I've looked, but prices are insane. And once this news gets out and confirmed those prices will likely go even higher.
Think I'll go buy that Waddle Dee just in case. Worst case scenario, scalp it. 😝
I hope there are reprints of the Kirby series amiibo, be the Smash Bros. ones or the Kirby ones.
My shelf could do with a little more of Kirby, the only character in my shelf is Smash Kirby and I foolishly didn't buy Smash Meta Knight and Waddle Dee when I had a chance.
@Ogbert something like abilities I feel would be better as cards. But I'd be totally on board if they made amiibo figures of special abilities like the one-use ones like Cook or Crash, or game-specific ones like the Hypernova from Triple Deluxe, the mech from Planet Robobot or, specially for me, the Ultra Sword from Return to Dream Land.
I've got all the Kirby amiibos and the BoxBoy amiibo as well. Time to put them to use again!
I’d love a reprint of the Smash Bros Kirby amiibo. That pose is so pwecious :3
@HammerGalladeBro I think cards would be more practical given the number of copy abilities he has now. But he’s popular enough that I don’t think a toy series wouldn’t sell. I mean there has already been several toy series of exactly that. Robobots and crash abilities would be amazing but I think they’d have far bigger gameplay ramifications.
As long as they don't lock any functionality behind them it is fine, but even if they do my phone can emulate them so either way I will have them Nintendo
unlikely but, if they make a Daroach Amiibo I will buy it in a heartbeat. He's my favorite and such a cool and cute character <3
