Blasphemous is certainly among the top group of tough metroidvania titles on Switch, serving up a stunning visual style, a grim but intriguing world and satisfying controls. It's had plenty of post-launch support from developer The Game Kitchen and publisher Team17, too, with updates that have served up new content and various improvements.
The third and final major free DLC is now live - Wounds of Eventide. As you can see in the trailer it looks fascinating, and it serves up new levels, bosses, secrets and unlocks "another fate for Cvstodia that leads into the events of the Blasphemous sequel", which is due in 2023.
We've taken a look at the Steam patch notes to see the details and how to access it, and though you can see some of the content from an endgame save, to experience it all you may need to restart (or not be far into your playthrough). The detail on how to start the new content properly for the full experience is on the latest update post behind a spoiler tag.
This is certainly an approach to DLC that mimics some of the ideas seen in IPs like Dark Souls, and it's a game that's probably worth a fresh playthrough now that it's had multiple content and quality-of-life updates.
Are you planning to check out Wounds of Eventide in Blasphemous? Let us know, as always, in the comments.

So sad, that this Game is sooo difficult ;-(
I´ve give up playing.....
The game is just amazing! Hard at times but very atmospheric!
I've looked at this game soooooo many times on eshop and in sales, but there's not enough hours in my day to take on a punishing game like this
if i'm being frank, the fact both this and the first dlc require a ng+ or new save is really irritating, it's kept me from seeing the new content and just feels unneccessary to have to play the entire game again just to see the Penitent One fight a cool big snake
This game is phenomenal
@HamatoYoshi
I'd even say blasphenomenal!
Loved this game on PS4. Double-dipped on Switch - sounds like the right time to start a second run through! Maybe I can beat that horrifying final boss this time…
@bigE I’d say go for it! It’s challenging, but not THAT hard. Just one of those games where you need to play intentionally, and tread carefully.
I found the difficulty resonable for 90% of the game.
The only issue is if you choose to zig rather than zag, early on.
Theres one area thats fustrating enough as it is but is made 10x worse if you choose to tackle it first (mainly due to not having enough health upgrade meaning you have to know the area really well)
But honestly I dont have the time to replay for the new stuff (especially because it was a 7/10 game for me)
@iZen what? Come on man it’s not that freaking difficult. There are games out there way more difficult than this one, hollow knight is a good example.
@Burntbreadman 7/10 usually means it’s replay level worthy, unless it’s a game that’s like 80+ hours long maybe.
I didn't find the game to be that hard once I got into the groove. But other games grabbed my attention before I could finish it. Maybe I'll just start over to check out the new content.
I'll happily play through again.
This game is awesome.
I didn't find it that hard but I grew up playing harder titles as a kid.
Can't wait.
@somebread my thoughts exactly. I just replayed this game not too long ago too (NG+) for the other dlc.
I don’t know if I want to replay it again from the start…even if the snake boss looks cool lol.
I don't do well with Souls-like games, but aside from a couple of punishing fights late-game, I actually handled it ok surprisingly. I'm looking forward to this DLC.
@Dirty0814 sorry for me, I´ve give up playing
I found myself dying only to spikes and pits. As a "souls like" its definitely on the easier side.
@somebread,
I agree. I probably just go for the morsels I can get in my finished file. I probably won't do a new file, nor do I sacrifice my cherised finished file for a new game+ file. And the game is already hard enough.
