Ubisoft's free-to-play brawler has had some notable IP crossovers in recent months, and today's update brings a few classic characters from Capcom's Street Fighter series. Ryu, Chun-Li and Akuma are all joining in, along with a tweaked mode, new stage and more.
Below is some of the official PR blurb.
Their arrival hurricane-kicks off an in-game event featuring a new game mode called Street Brawl; players will fight Street Fighter-style with health bars to show who will be the first to fall in the 2-D fighter setting. Plus, a new K.O. Effect featuring the iconic, Street Fighter-inspired K.O. text will be available along with a new Podium and Satsui no Hado Emote, so players can claim that perfect finish. A new 1v1 map based on Suzaku Castle has also been added, as well as four new avatars featuring Zangief, the Shadaloo symbol, a Hadoken, and an animated avatar showing a quarter circle forward punch.
Bask in the glory and adoration of these Street Fighter Crossovers:
- Ryu – Epic Crossover for Petra – Ryu is always trying to find the next strongest opponent to better himself. Many of his iconic techniques have been brought over to Brawlhalla, like the Tatsumaki Senpukyaku, Shoryuken, and Hadoken.
- Chun-Li – Epic Crossover for Wu Shang – The Strongest Woman in the World is sure to teach her opponents a thing or two about how to take a kick. She brings techniques of her own into Brawlhalla, like the Spinning Bird Kick and Kikosho.
- Akuma – Epic Crossover for Val – Focused on defeating the gods, the Master of the Fist is ready to make them truly tremble to pieces. He’ll achieve ultimate power with his Tatsumaki Zankukyaku and Zanku Hadoken techniques, among a few others.
This follows a Walking Dead crossover in September, while Brawlhalla has also featured fighters from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Kung Fu Panda and Hellboy amongst others.
The update to kick-off the Street Fighter tie-in has also added some remixed modes along with other fixes and balancing tweaks, with the full details at the link below.

Okay this made me want to play this game!
Gonna download it asap.
Beautifully animated game, but, meh... not my genre. And cross-overs don't do anything for me. Especially when the original characters don't speak to me much.
"Can you play as Ryu?"
"Sure, you can!"
Between this, Fortnite, and Power Rangers, Ryu and Chun Li sure have been making the rounds lately.
Now the question is, did they rip off Ryu's moveset from Smash?
I tried this game but its just not my cup of tea. Its more slower pace than Smash and most abilities are tied to weapons instead of the characters. Wish we could get a proper Indie Smash-like game featuring popular indie characters...yes I know of Bounty Battle but I want something similar but 3D and well, much better than that game lol
Switch wasn't listed at the end of the video, only Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, and PS4.
@ModdedInkling Unfortunately all the Brawlhalla crossovers (except for Rayman) are skins for the original characters since every character shares moves; the differences in characters come in their stats and the two weapons they're allowed to use. They picked which OC's weapons and stats would best fit to plop Ryu over.
Okay Brawlhalla you had officially persuade me to return back to the game now.
@DrDaisy Yet they are in the Switch version for the latest patch and were advertised at the start screen the moment you turn Brawlhalla on.
lol now they have street fighters
@Specter_of-the_OLED I figured they would be. I just find it odd that the platforms in the video don't include Switch.
@Xiovanni Well what did Sakurai expect? He should have known Ryu messes around with every fighter who looks his way. I mean, he stole Ryu from MvC, SvC, SxT, PxZ, TvC and Puzzle Fighter after all.
Still annoying they don't let you transfer your data from mobile to switch. It's 2021 people, get with it.
The Street Fighter characters sure like fighting.
This is pretty cool!!
@Maulbert
Ken: Hey Ryu, do you want to be in that Brawlhalla game?
Ryu: A dooo Ken, yeah.
