Following on from Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town getting a bunch of patches to make it a better experience, plus the free trial for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, XSEED has announced today that a new, free content update is coming for the game.
The update is in celebration of Pioneers of Olive Town hitting the 1 million units sold mark on the Nintendo Switch, and will add new features, events, requests, outfits, hairstyles, and abilities — as well as making it possible for the six marriage candidates from the DLC to attend town festivals!
One of the major additions is Spirit Quests, in which the protagonist acts as a medium between the townsfolk and the Harvest Sprites. The Spirit Quests will only be available to players who have triggered all Town Development Events, and who have enough Town Development Points.
The Sprite Quests will also provide unique rewards, including:
- New outfits at the beauty salon
- New farming abilities
- A mysterious ladder connecting areas of your farm
The update will come to the Nintendo Switch on November 29th as a free download.

Wow, it's like they listened to their fans. Having the DLC characters but not having them actually come to the town was odd, glad they're doing something to fix that.
I deleted this one because of my ridiculous backlog but I think I'll re-download it and give it another crack. Seems like a substantial free update.
This game isn't good.
Is that the ability to pickup multiple crops at a time I spy, because I want. Also, I think it's hilarious that POoT or POOT has persevered.
It's awesome that they are continuing to improve PooT and it seems like they were really listening, since the lack of interaction with the DLC characters was high on the list of complaints from people who actually liked the game. I'm very happy with this.
I've moved on to a bunch of other games in the meantime, but I'll probably go back to it sooner or later to see how this feels. I did like the game after their first major update/patch.
This game isn't the best but I quite like spending my time relaxing with it. And I really appreciate the fact that the developers keep adding free stuff
@CactusMan
I was thinking Animal Parade subtitle was a huge mistake since the storyline was about finding the five bells and summon Harvest King.
@CovidBarbie
And you have said that all the time on every Story of Seasons Pioneer of Olive Town articles. 😑
@Anti-Matter You know what they say: If you hate something, make sure to mention it every chance you get
I just bought my first Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons game the other day… and it was Friends of Mineral Town. I saw too many controversial things about this entry and it seemed like the 3DS titles and FOMT were more enjoyable. Glad they’re listening to fans and fixing up things things in the latest entry, but I’ll be sticking to Friends of Mineral Town for the time being.
Still waiting for a sale. Such a sucker for farming games but I didn’t grab this cuz of the less than stellar overall reviews.
@Ocaz Get the Friends of Mineral Town remake, Stardew Valley, Graveyard Keeper, or Gleaner Heights instead. PoOT is a travesty and only slightly better than the horrific Harvest Moon: One World.
@CovidBarbie I’ve got most of those already. Always lookin for more xD
@DeathByLasagna If you're only going to play one HM/SOS game, FOMT is a very solid choice!
@CovidBarbie
I don't think Harvest Moon One World is really bad.
@JasmineDragon Thanks! That’s what I’ve been hearing and I’m excited to start it up this weekend!
Super sad on how this instalment ends up. Hopefully Rune Factory 5 doesn't dissappoints.
