If you're in the market for a cheap and cheerful platformer, you might want to check out Barry the Bunny when it hops onto the Switch eShop later this week.
Said to feature "challenging" platforming action, Barry the Bunny has you jumping through levels and collecting items to progress through each of its four worlds. You'll need to defeat enemies by throwing certain items you find and evade dangerous traps, all while picking up enough wood to build bridges as you go.
This bridge-building mechanic plays a pretty central theme in Barry's progress, as you'll spot in the trailer up above. Make sure to check that out to see some gameplay first-hand.
Here's a feature list:
Features:
- Classic 2D platformer gameplay
- Visit 4 different unique areas
- Colorful 8-bit style graphics
- Vibrant chiptune music
- Increasingly challenging levels
As you'll have guessed from the headline, you'll be able to pick up this game for just $4.99 / 4.99€ when it launches this Friday, 13th August. It'd take something pretty special for it to make it onto the list of Switch's best 2D platformers, but it's hard to say no at that price.
Let us know if you'll be giving it a try in the comments below.

Somehow I knew this was Ratalaika Games before even opening the article.
Watching the trailer, this has the feel of a GBA or DS homebrew game, and not a wholly remarkable one.
What was that Wii U platformer with the ninja rabbit that probably a lot of us bought to fill the so called drought? Lol
I'm fond of such games despite sucking at them big time (it's been what, a couple years since I hit the wall with that one stage in Alteric? And its name implied that the game was only getting serious now🙀😄), and this sounds like a neat mechanic there, too.
That said, seeing as Ratalaika published A Little Lily Princess the other month, what I look forward to from them most is another Hanako Games title, my long awaited Long Live the Queen double-dip.
I didn't know people were able to release games from Game Builder Garage!!!
Reminds me of flash games I used to play on Miniclip
@NinChocolate Was it Kung Fu Rabbit? I own that one, and played it a decent bit, but not sure I ever finished it....
@CactusMan "When I was drunk..,"
LMAO! Thanks for the laugh!
@CoffeeWithGames I had Kung Fu Rabbit on the Vita, I never finished it either.
@CoffeeWithGames I never finished that game either.
It literally looks like a thousand other games on the eShop. If you have 5 quid to spare, go buy a tasty snack, money will be better spent 🌮🍔🍡
It's the kind of game I really enjoy. I'll just take a look at a review to learn about game design. If it's just good, it's ok for me for 5 bucks
If it runs at the frame rate of that video I definitely won't play it! Hopefully it was just encoded at a lesser rate than the game plays at...
@Jireland92 I was going to say that this looks like something you'd play 15 years ago for free.
looks aight..... uh... longer comment
@CoffeeWithGames Kung Fu Rabbit sounds right. I never finished it lol
