It's become standard practice for Nintendo to release day-one updates for its latest releases on the Switch. Following on from first-day patches for Miitopia and Game Builder Garage, we've now got one for Camelot's game, Mario Golf: Super Rush.
It bumps the title up to Version 1.1.0. According to Nintendo's official support page, there are some adjustments, improvements and changes. The motion controls have also been tweaked. Here's the full rundown:
Ver. 1.1.0 (Released June 24, 2021)
- Battle Golf
- Added “Enable/Disable” for Rush Events. Selecting “Enable” will cause Rush Events to occur at fixed times during play.
- Golf Adventure (Adventure Mode)
- Added Challenges for Shots off tee, Approaches, and Putting. The new challenges can be accepted from the Fire Bros in each area’s practice area.
- Added lessons that teach spin use, and strategies for wind direction. The new challenges can be accepted from the Hammer Bros in each area’s practice area.
- Adjusted several scenes encountered during the Golf Adventure mode of the game.
- Motion Controls
- “Practice Swing” now displays on the screen when trying out practice swings.
- Adjusted the game balance around swing inputs.
- Online and Local Wireless Play
- Names of online opponents will now display.
- Connection errors occurring mid-game will now display.
- General Changes
- Adjusted the display position of text and other information displayed during play.
- Adjusted the results screen.
- In addition, adjustments have been made to the game balance, and issues have been fixed to make the game experience more enjoyable.
During its E3 Direct last week, Nintendo also confirmed it would be releasing free content updates for the new Mario Golf - including more courses and playable characters.

Can you though with that firmware bug they introduced few weeks back?
Nothing game ending. The game would still be playable without these for those people 20 years in the future.
I was thinking the games with treatment of Day One patch / update will be incomplete in the future when you cannot update the games anymore. Also, I was thinking the Day One update like a weapon against pirates if they want to pirate the games.
Hmm... I was really hoping we'd get some surprise paid DLC expansion pass like releases of courses from prior games like the 3DS game with past courses. I know they're doing the free updates, but we have no idea what free content they'll will be provided aside from an Odyssey themed course.
@San_D I can't update any games since that update. 😕
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm breathing a huge sigh of relief at this. I was worried that Nintendo were going to revert to the bad old days, when they actually finished a game before releasing it. Panic averted.
I hope at some point we get the online tournament mode stuff that was in the 3DS version added. It was wonderfully implemented and fun to play with friends/communities. Sad it isn't (from what I've read) in this one.
But....but....theres no stability updates with this!!!
great news. i think this will be a blast. and once again nintendo life did not print the japanese charts . GBG Was number one again. and the whole top ten was nothing but switch games. hey alex are you sure this is a nintendo site? you print the uk charts where sony is number one. but A nintendo site does NOT print the japan charts when nintendo dominates. Do your job sir. all this site does is critisize the switch and you hardly ever praise the switch. why don't you QUIT ALL YOUR WAFFELING. and do your job or just change your name to PUSH SQUARE 2. this is a nintendo site. start doing your job or give it over to some one who will.
Had this patch yesterday already. I Like the game so far
Got my copy delivered yesterday and put about 4-5 hours into it. It’s very mediocre and I’ll unfortunately be listing it on eBay today. Very disappointed.
@HamatoYoshi Oh dear... What did you find mediocre about it? At this point I feel like I'd rather have a Toadstool Tour remaster! I'm not sure Speed Golf is for me, the more I read about it and the courses just look so bland.
I'm getting Tony Hawks instead but might pick this up later in the year depending on what the DLC offers.
Picking the game up the game later, can't wait.
@Clyde_Radcliffe I wanted to enjoy it but it just didn’t grab me, the graphics are great but the courses are so sparse, the music is poor and I felt that after a days play there was little more to offer.
@HamatoYoshi That's exactly what I was worried about. The graphics look gorgeous but nothing about the courses are grabbing me. Honestly, I could care less about the whole "rush" mode. I don't play golf games to rush...I want to relax.
@DominoHurley there’s no spectators, no little Nintendo Easter eggs, nothing at all. It’s Mario Tennis all over again.

@Clyde_Radcliffe It's a really weird bug, but I would suggest keep retrying - usually after 3-4 times it decides to update for me. Very annoying though, and I've heard retrying doesn't work for some.
@HamatoYoshi Mine arrived too, still wrapped. I’m tempted to just post it back :/
Probably also lowering the chance of awesome future DLC.
@Clyde_Radcliffe Hey, try this, it worked for me:
Go to System Settings > Internet > Internet Settings.
Select your wifi network from the network list.
Select “Change Settings.”
Scroll down and change DNS Settings to “Manual.”
Set your Primary DNS address to 8.8.8.8
Set your Secondary DNS address to 8.8.4.4
Select “Save.”
Back out and retry the download.
If this doesn’t work, or it somehow creates new connection issues, go back to the network settings and change the DNS settings back to “Automatic.
@tntswitchfan68 Yeah it's like the priority for Nintendo Life:
1. Nintendo Controversies
2. Bland Nintendo information
3. Sony successes current gen
4. Nintendo Successes in the past
5. Nintendo Successes current gen
@OldMcGroin Oh thanks! Will try that. I hope Nintendo fix it soon though.
@DominoHurley "The graphics look gorgeous but nothing about the courses are grabbing me"
i don't actually think the graphics look that gorgeous. Compared to Toadstool Tour the colours look so washed out and the courses lack character. Imagine if all the courses and the graphics style looked like Mario Kart 8? With as much character and stuff going on. The style looks too realistic or something.
I don't know what's up with Camelot in recent years. Like the Mario Party developers their games just seem to lack the Nintendo magic of the older titles. I'm not sure if it's a lack of budget/time from Nintendo or just the people working at these studios now, but it's a shame.
Admittedly even Animal Crossing New Horizons doesn't have the charm or content of the older games either. Maybe Nintendo's games are just more hit and miss than they were... back in the day I wouldn't even wait for reviews but now I do. I think the N64 was their absolute peak in terms of consistent quality.
Day 1 patches are one of the main reasons why many of the advantages of physical media over digital are no longer valid.
They claim that digital games are not really yours, only buying physical you actually own your games, but nowadays, many games require you to download a patch to play online, play the good version of the game, play DLC and updates, or just play them at all.
While I get that most Nintendo games are released at launch complete, where you don't need a patch to enjoy them properly, many games are broken and incomplete at launch and having the physical copy and no internet means you don't own the complete game even if all the patches are free, if the servers close, the rest is gone.
@Clyde_Radcliffe Nintendo fixed that bug the other day.
@Wilforce ummmm if you actually read the article the free dlc is characters and courses lol
@Clyde_Radcliffe they fixed that bug already
Don't listen to people judge games for ypurself
Some of these changes sound pretty major. Approach Practice, Putt Challenge and Tee Shot are modes that were in pretty much every Mario Golf game before this one, but they only added it in the day one patch?
The patch also changes the art you see on the Battle Mode jumbotrons. Before they were reused art from other Mario games.
@Darkyoshi98 If you actually read my comment you would see that I acknowledge the free DLC, which if you have been following the game as closely as I have been then you'd realize that the DLC I want is different from the DLC that's been revealed so far. Their handling of Mario Tennis DLC set the bar very low for anything free.
@Dr_Lugae no kidding. this needs to stop. i wish actual nintendo fans would run this site
@Clyde_Radcliffe the entire game is a watered down overpriced joke. So many corners cut its unreal.
