Video game historian and Nintendo Life contributor Liam Robertson has uncovered the long-lost peripheral and unreleased device known as the WorkBoy. The WorkBoy - for those that don't know - was an add-on for the Game Boy that turned Nintendo's famous handheld device into a PDA - essentially a small personal computer.
Robertson has gone above and beyond to share the story of the WorkBoy and his own experiences with it. A trademark for this peripheral was first registered in 1992. It was designed by Source Research and Development in the UK, while a start-up company called Fabtek in the US planned to produce it in close collaboration with Nintendo.
You can get the full history of this unique Game Boy accessory in the video above. It's definitely worth a look!

The quality of said device would have surely been on par with the incredible, breathtakingly brilliant gameboy camera and printer.
@Northwind From the video, this seems to be the work of Fabtek, not really Nintendo.
Pretty fascinating story actually, the whole thing is very 90's PDA market.
That was a really cool video! Even if I consider this device useless, but the story is really cool!
I didn't really remember this device but this is a pretty cool story. Makes you wonder what could have been.
AVGN is going to have to update his Gameboy accessory episode
Now for the speedrunner videos of someone using this to play Super Mario Land.
It is the Game Boy. It is for games. Work is not permitted. Now, if you'll excuse me, I will go fishing with the help of my Game Boy.
the WorkBoy is one add-on that i will never get, but interesting..
the last accessory i got for my GameBoy was an accessory that allowed me to connect to my GameBoy to an overhead projector.
@Northwind We don't get the amazing stuff without the WTF stuff. I've learned just to enjoy the eccentric ride.
@sdelfin well there was a cart that helped bet on horse racing too wasn’t there?
@Jawessome I saw that there was something like that for the Famicom. I don't know if the Game Boy had something of that sort. As we've seen, the GB was full of surprises.
