Capcom was recently subject to a serious hack which has thrown up a bunch of new information regarding future releases, including the upcoming Switch timed exclusive Monster Hunter Rise.
It's already been leaked that Monster Hunter Rise will be coming to PC later in 2021 – although Capcom is yet to officially announce this, we should add – but it's now been revealed that Nintendo paid "around $6 million" for timed exclusivity. Rise launches on Switch in March 2021 and is believed to be coming to PC in October.
Interestingly, other documents reveal that Capcom internally discussed the game being totally exclusive to Switch, which hints that Nintendo could have paid more money to totally lock Rise down – but Capcom was cautious about keeping the game on a single system. It is noted that the Switch version will be 'hard to sell' in China, but 'brand-linked' measures would make a PC release there a success.
The hack has also revealed that Capcom is planning to revive a host of existing titles, as well as bring the two Great Ace Attorney titles to the west.

Such a shame that Capcom got hacked and we get to see these leaks.
Interesting, sure. But very disruptive of Capcom's and Nintendo's work.
I'm putting this as rumour as anyone can make anything up right now and say it came from the leak. And please don't do the trusted sources thing.
Shouldn’t the headline read ‘exclusivity’?
Expected as much after the PC version was initially found out about. Capcom seems to commonly do timed exclusives such as the RE7 VR Timed Exclusivity, and after the absolutely fantastic sales World had on PC it’s not surprising they’d not want to miss out on it.
If there are cross-saves, I will buy both versions. True master race plays wherever it wants.
I know it's great that more people can play the game on PC...but I don't know.
Something about Nintendo exclusives appearing on Steam always seems a little sad.
@Rodan2000 It should, and it now does. Apologies!
I don't really care. As long as we can play more MH regardless of exclusivity deals then everybody wins! Though of course my main platform would still be Switch! The best gaming sessions happen while on the toilet! xD
24 hours ago people were saying it was 15million dollars, now it's down to 6million dollars... tomorrow it'll be down to 30 bucks...
Seems to me like a lot of people who don't know what they're talking about are running their mouth, fake "leakers" abound online.
Not surprising that Capcom doesn't want to make it exclusive in the traditional sense of the term. I expect to see fewer third-party exclusives on any console for a while.
Doesn't seem like that great a deal for mere six months of exclusivity, unless I'm severely underestimating the impact of that on Chinese market. PC version exclusive to China - now that would be a different story.
Thank you leakers. You saved us for buying switch version.
As long they didn't have to make too many concessions to get it running on Switch im happy.
Probably the best thing about this and other games being timed exclusive for the Switch is it means that the game is likely designed with the system and its limitations in mind so it should be pretty well optimised. Much harder to take something designed for a more powerful system and port it to the Switch without significant compromises.
I knew it was a matter of time before this new district of "Leakland" got upgraded from cheap rumours to alleged industry laundry, but all this does is make it more facepalm-worthy for NL to report on such stuff.
Guys, we're literally getting a new Indie World today, more CGC items just got revealed... and you're still so desperate for posts to publish? 😕
This game was already said to have been designed specifically for the Switch for the past 4 years by the developers of the portable Monster Hunter series, this has been reported in many places and was actually coming from Capcom developers themselves.
I don't understand why we're now reporting on leaks which are leading towards the idea that this wasn't, in fact, the case, and the game was slated for other platforms. PS4 and Xbox are unlikely to get this game because they have the World series, and I'm not so sure Capcom will want this game to even release on the PC as it would be a strange push/pull between the World series and Rise.
Rise is a completely different game, I don't see why people seem so adamant that it should head to other systems when the games specifically catered towards those systems and players are coming out later.
I wouldn't be surprised if World 2 is already 1-2 years from reveal, I don't find this source all that "trustworthy". It's also odd how this isn't at all listed under "rumors", when I clicked this article I expected real quotes from Capcom or Nintendo employees, not some Twitter rumor fueled post. Also, why the hell would the documents list very specific plans on how Nintendo had negotiated full exclusivity? Seems awfully convenient for a sh*tpost to get this kind of information.
If, in fact, these documents are still valid and real, I wouldn't be surprised for there to be seriously big changes to this release formula and legal actions taken from both Nintendo and Capcom.
Seems like a waste to pay that much. Who ever was going to buy the game on Switch still is
Interesting that the hack doesn’t appear to have leaked any details on the new Ghosts n’ Goblins or Arcade Collection that Capcom just announced.
This makes me rethink my preorder on Switch but I don’t want to wait too long to play a new MH game but if the game doesn’t support cross saves, PC it’s the way to go then
I mean if Sony can pay for exclusive non-cosmetic content of multi-plat games, this is only fair.
3rd party exclusives dont make sense they end up loosing money.
I'm not sure I buy this tbh anyone could've made this up.
Worth every penny.
I love the monster hunter series, but isn’t it pointless to buy the vanilla version when you know that a “ultimate edition” is gonna be release a year later?
The time exclusive part was a smart move by Nintendo, Monster Hunter games had always sold better on a handheld anyways as evidence by past 3DS and PSP entries in Nintendo's home country so to get not one but two new Monster Hunter games for Switch will definitely help sold the system in Japan before those get ported elsewhere. I'm still surprise that Monster Hunter 3 & 4 hasn't been ported or remastered to the other platforms as well. By the time the game's exclusivity deal is over, Nintendo would had sold a million more Switches over the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S before the game would became old news as a multiplat.
Normally it would bug me that this game won't be exclusive after World not coming to Switch. But at this point I'm just glad the Switch (and a Nintendo home console in general) is finally getting a new Monster Hunter game that isn't a HD port of a 3DS game. lol
I thought only evil companies such as sony and Microsoft participate in these anti consumer policies. What happened to Nintendo the loyal friend and good guy.
Makes me wonder if this supposed PC version is similar to the Monster Hunter Online game situation. That was a China only PC game released back in 2015 (and recently shut down in 2019). The China market is big so my guess that's what this Rise "PC" version is based on that "leak" referring to China. If that ends up being the case then it will be a Nintendo exclusive everywhere outside of China.
It was also built on the CryEngine. Here is some info if you don't know what I'm talking about.
https://mmos.com/review/monster-hunter-online
Game looks kinda dumpy tbh
@RustedHero This way Capcom would maximize profits in China while driving sales on Switch in the west AND making people more eager for World's sequel. Any other deal than that wouldn't be too beneficial for Nintendo, I believe.
@Retro_Player_77 the game is for switch and PC dude.
Game development costs so much these days, so I don’t think it’s financially viable for any 3rd party to limit themselves to one platform. The only games that you can make exclusive are the ones where it’s aimed at a certain age group that predominantly plays on one platform.
Even first party games are going that way as well like all the Xbox games in PC and Horizon Zero Dawn.
Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Will that be Nintendo exclusive though.
As far as I'm aware part 1 was only on the 3ds.
So does this mean it will be a switch ONLY release?
@Rodan2000 That is what it's read as though....
Shrug
Would have got it anyway
@sixrings shhh you can't make valid points, here.
And yet what about those of us who aren’t MH fans? Nintendo you need to go after Western 3rd party AAA games better.
@Zyph I finished a large amount of Generations Ultimate while pooping
That’s a lot of money! :0
reeks of desperation for exclusive content by nintendo. yet those applauding this hate on sony for hogging persona main titles lmao
@kobashi100 Yo the PC version (if it exist) is just a leak rumor at this point, until Capcom spill the beans the Switch original is the only official and exclusive version. Still even if the PC version is coming, that won't change the situation I just mention.
If this is accurate, I'm not seeing what any difference this makes to those who are Monster Hunter fans and plan on buying the game
@CharizardEmperor Just look at sony fanboys doing everything they can to make the game fails. While Nintendo and Nintendo fans supported and promoted games like Persona 5 or Monster Hunter World. Everytime you give money to Sony that money will be used to hurt the japanese industry.
If Rise does release for PC, I really don't see that affecting Switch sales much. Not sure that timed exclusivity is really going to matter. A lot of MH fans will want to play it handheld.
I'm just happy this game exists, that it was made specifically for the switch. This is the game that I've been waiting for ever since switch was first announced four years ago. But if a pc version means more people get to play it, then I say that's great.
I'm not sure if I buy this information. Though I suppose in an industry like this, paying $6 million for a popular IP to remain exclusive to your platform (for awhile) isn't unheard of. Still, even IF this is true, I can't support how this information was obtained.
@Elroy_B The first Monster Hunter Stories was built with the 3DS in mind. However, it was also a timed exclusive; it was ported to mobile devices about a year after it released. To my knowledge, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is Switch-only, but it wouldn't surprise me if that's also a timed exclusive.
@Friendly It is fine the hackers were shut down really fast, plus I always assume they are false until proven true unless there is a ton of evidence to support it.
@Zorox88 MH is huge in Japan and console sales get a significant bump when a new one launches, having all that going to them is a great coup from Nintendo.
@AlienigenX They will very likely treat this game like World, in the sense that instead of releasing another version with more content, they’ll add more content with an expansion like Iceborne.
I’m pretty sure free content updates are also on the table too, which is something I really liked about World and Iceborne.
@JokerCK You do know this is a leak right? Not 100% real. And anyways, nothings wrong with the switch version.
@ok1 yeah i know this is a leak but everything that has leaked so far has turned out to be true.
Everyone pays for timed exclusives. Just how it is.
Did not wait months for MH: World to come out on PC either. Switch day 1 for me.
As far as I'm aware the leak never mentioned Ghosts and Goblins Resurrection or Arcade Stadium, so while it may not invalidate the leak it does make it a little less credible.
All I care about is a Dragon's Dogma sequel. PLEASE...just don't make it a live service game!
It's interesting that Nintendo is now playing ball with money hatting games....depressing, but interesting.
The other thing this leak does is confirm some worst fears about how the gaming industry, entertainment at large, and the world at large is basically being redesigned to meet the lowest common denominator of China.
I wondering what came first? The dumbing down of the game to get it on Nintendo's console or built from the ground up for Nintendo's console?
I didn’t know Nintendo did these type of things.
like that one guy on the top comment stated we should take these leaks with a grain of salt rises can still be exclusive to the switch just depends on capcom decision but these hackers should be dealt with harshly by removing their hands so they cant keep doing this crap.
I will be waiting for the PC version. There's no way it's going to look as good as they're showing.
To be clear, Monster Hunter Rise was always going to release on both Switch and PC. Nintenso paid money for Capcom to delay the announcement of the PC version. Had Capcom announced the PC version alongside the Switch version, Nintendo would have simply not paid Capcom anything.
@OorWullie
The leaks mentioned Ghost & Goblins and Arcade Stadium weeks ago. It's just that nobody here bothered to pay attention.
@JokerCK Really? I don't think any of this leak has happened yet.
@Retro_Player_77 given the fact that MHW is literally Capcom's best selling game of all time and isn't on a handheld, you can throw that notion out the window.
@westman98 Interesting, so it definitely is genuine then. I can now look forward to the Final Fight and Powerstone remakes.
@Varkster games "designed" for Switch have been ported to other platforms before, it being built on Switch first is meaningless.
@alecseus same here! Cross save is a "must have" to buy multiplatform games for me
@ChaosBadger777 but in this case is the other way. The base version is the Switch version, they may enhanced some points for PC
@Zorox88 for exemple, I won't. Unless it's cross save.
If this is true, I don't know why Capcom is worried about Nintendo exclusivity. Since they had no issue with it for so many titles in the series from Tri onwards. Unless they're looking at Rise as the next money maker on the scale of World, in which case, I don't think Nintendo will ever have another truly exclusive title in the main series
Idk why they'd bother when it's just PC. It's still console exclusive either way and people are gonna buy on Switch either way because its portable hybrid AAA Monster Hunter. Even Sony is putting their exclusives on PC now.
That said, I suppose it will drive some extra sales from non-Switch gamers who dont want to wait (just like I bought MH World on PS4 because there was no way on God's green earth I was gonna wait til the fall).
Either way, as long as it's the exclusive handheld hybrid console version, the game will sell itself. Being console exclusive on top of that and even full exclusive for a time, is only going to help it.
For the record though, I'm 100% behind this game going to PC (and all other games- put it all on PC). I personally won't partake unless it has cross save so I can do PC at home, Switch on the go, because the slight visual improvement is not even remotely worth giving up the hybrid advantage for (especially with how insanely good the game looks on Switch). But I'm still all for it. I'm a simple man- I get my AAA portable hybrid MH, I'm happy.
@Agramonte
Wow. I'm actually rather surprised to hear you say that.
Personally I can't stand companies that have a policy of repeatedly paying for exclusivity (though timed is admittedly less egregious, it's still aggravating). And I'll stand by that here too- they should have just released both day and date. Nintendo gets no exception from me on this (having said that, there's a difference between a company that does one game per generation and companies that seem to have a new one every month).
PC isnt gonna affect Switch much anyways because the game already looks gorgeous on Switch while offering the first AAA handheld MH in the history of the series. It does console and handheld combined too, so it basically has everything you could want.
But straight up- not even the power of the universe itself could have stopped me from playing MH World when it dropped on PS4. I bought a year of PS+ just to play the demo for goodness sakes! This is my favorite series of all time, and this looks like it will be my favorite entry of that series, on my favorite console of all time. But even if it wasn't, March 26th day one, you better believe it. Normally I'll wait for Switch/PC versions that release on Epic/PS first, but not for Monster Hunter. They could release this game on an Ooya and I'd be lining up on launch day.
@glaemay Nice blanket statements!
Also not necessarily. The sony ones you mention are only a minority. A very loud minority. Plus you can find just as many nintendo fans doing the same crap if you look hard enough.
Also the bit about money to Sony is money to hurt Japan or whatever... care to cite sources or expand? I'm morbidly curious.
@RCGamer I appreciate that this has been built for the Switch but after playing World for 2 years I'm hoping it doesn't feel like a step backwards due to console limitations.
How will party chat be implemented and can you send friend/game requests or join a hunt without having to go through all of the extra hoops, I just want to open my menu and join someone's hunt or send an flare up and have people join mine.
Timed exclusivity seems like an indirect way for quality assurance. If the bar is set up to meet the Switch's hardware capabilities, not only does it prevent crappy ports, but it also means the other platforms will have that chance to become the best of the best. I wish some developers go down this route, voluntarily.
Its not surprising they'd be hesitant considering they have been claiming it'll totally end up selling as much as Mhw, which was multi plat. If they want it to sell as much as world, it can't be exclusive to a console. The switch is popular but can't match against steam.
I'll still get both versions, but I'm more excited for the pc version, since the switch can't be strong enough to run it nearly as well. Plus, graphical mods like model swaps are fun!
Not sure about this. Tin hat well and truly on but won’t the development for the switch potentially seriously hinder the final product on pc ?
I’m not sure the 6 million was worth it? I mean it’s rise not world!
Rise was never coming to the other consoles so to pay 6 million to delay a pc release??
I’d spent that 6 million on getting some more retro games ported over!
Give to sega and get them to port outrun 2 or jet set......
Comments in here are pretty sad. Didn’t know exclusivity effected so many people’s enjoyment of games.
The real question is, was MH Rise aim for Switch from the very beginning, or were they thinking of going Multiplat from the start PS4/Xobone/ PC and maybe Switch, until Nintendo pay them up for time exclusivity?
Imagine being Nintendo and still having to pay companies like Capcom money just to consider keeping games exclusive to the Switch. I just don't get it. No game is really worth it, TBH. MH is not worth 6 million exclusivity, especially since it will Capcom that benefits most from it.
@gaga64 @AlexanderDaniels Both Ghost & Goblins and the Arcade collection was mentioned in the leak.
@Grot Ok. I always pegged Nintendo as frugal and cautious. I can’t imagine them pay for lots AAA timed exclusives.
@Friendly is all fake news. They not had discovered the two games announced in the game awards that was easier discover thant games of many years in future. They not discovered the switch exclusive that will/was be announced in E3 2021 (not sure when now).The information in this article too is fake.But I can't say why I know is fake. All fake. PS fans are doing it unfortnally.
@JaxonH I think all 3rd party games should be everywhere. Let people decide what hardware is best for each game. Each time I played Aegis Rim, I said this should be on Switch.
Payed time exclusives are silly, but everyone is doing it. Nintendo needs to compete. I am also part of the problem, as I do not like to wait. I usually go by "no idea where life will be later". new hardware, restaurants, pubs, theater, movies, games - same thing - sense of urgency to experience things I want. So they know (unless super awful) I will get games I am super excited about on the first hardware it hits. Like I said, I fuel the time exclusive thing.
I think PC is an amazing opportunity more than competition. I bought CIV6 on Switch just because of Crosssave with PC. Rise already looks fantastic, so probably not needed for this one. But an amazing feature I hope to see more of.
I am probably the only fool who even got all the Amiibos for MH: Stories... yep, Stories! 😅 they can put MH on a Samsung Fridge. Still, Day 1 (Both of them)
But timed exclusive was dumb according to people. I see people being hypocrites here.
@Shiro28
Playstation and Xbox were never on the cards. This was just to give Switch a 9 month lead time before the PC release. That’s made abundantly clear in the data. It’s a Switch/PC game just like MH Stories. Marketing deal likely ensures their promotion goes to the Switch version and not to paying for promoting the PC release later (even though bulk of PC sales for World came from China/Asia)
@Agramonte
Ha! So I’m not the only one who bought those. I have all 6 on my Monster Hunter shelf.
I agree about PC. Put everything on Steam (and I like Steam specifically because the controller config editor is insane, can map mouse to gyro for every game that supports virtual mouse detection and controller input simultaneously). MS puts all their exclusives on PC. 90% of Sony’s 3rd party exclusives are now on PC, and even their 1st party games are starting to go to PC. Sure, it’s competition to some extent, but there’s not nearly as much overlap (I’d argue there’s more Switch/PC overlap than anything).
Cross save would ensure I play on PC down the line, but without it, I’d really rather not start from scratch again. Did that with World, and I still haven’t made it to high rank in the Steam version. Eh. Switch version looks plenty good for TV play anyways (which is the nice thing about it, you get both in one version- that’s why I love playing games on Switch so much- I like TV play, like handheld play, hate being chained to either though). It’s only really a huge benefit when it’s a game like Witcher 3 that has a lot more compromise.
Monster Hunter is my favorite series of all time, and Rise looks like it’s going to be my new favorite game in the series. That wirebug just looks too fun.
Unfortunately Nintendo does need to compete, especially with trigger happy Sony buying up every gosh dang 3rd party multiplat they can get their hands on, but if they’re going to fight fire with fire it’d be smarter do it with a game that wasn’t already console exclusive to begin with. They already had a W with this game. Put that change toward making that Resident Evil targeting Switch a console exclusive. Don’t worry about PC. Most PC gamers are either A not gonna buy any console no matter what, or B already own a Switch and actually WANT the game on Switch for portable MH, so what’s really being gained (aside from console war bragging rights and fending off the Sony/MS fanatics thirsty to find a reason to say they’re not buying on Switch, despite most not even gaming on PC anyways- like previously mentioned, not much overlap between PC and PS/Xbox, libraries are too redundant... enthusiasts like us might own a PS5 alongside our PC, but most people aren’t enthusiasts with money to burn, something I’m reminded of every time I buy a Switch game and see countless complaints about price, which to me is nickels on the sidewalk- if I want hybrid play I’m buying the game, but apparently most people are much more frugal)
@Kanbolara oh were they? I didn’t see it reported anywhere. Thanks for the correction.
And why should we trust anything from Resetera? They are so fickle people can get banned because whatever excuse they can come up with.
@Varkster
Good job falling for Capcoms marketing. Made specifically for portable? Lmfao OK. Explain how. Explain how any of the games system cannot be played on home console (let me remind you the Switch is a hybrid and most people play at home.). At most, you can pause the game wow. That's game changing!
MHW was multiplatform and millions was able to enjoy it. Don't be a console twerp. Reminder, you don't work to Nintendo. As a consumer, the more consoles the game appears on the better. Not always true as the Switch is generations behind in hardware but yeah.
@Varkster
Oh yes your points were really good. Designed for the Switch specifically lol. Maybe if you write another whole essay you'd get your point across better.
@Real_Obsi Same, I would be playing docked anyway so might as well play the version I can play at a nicer 1440p/4k 144hz
Ghost and Goblins Res on Switch excites me more anyway. Will buy that twice if its on PC too.
Cancelled preorder on Switch when the leak happened. Looking forward to playing on Steam for this non exclusive multiplat
@dew12333 Why is it a rumor? Sony is the king of exclusivity with their Playstation releases and is well known to pay millions for (timed) exclusivity of major games on their console.
So why would it be a suprise if Nintendo has done the same with Monster Hunter Rise?
@outsider83 Nintendo basically originated the practice on the NES/SNES. Between their carts and draconian rules on games and licensing
@westman98 Yeah it was mentioned in the 2nd round of leaks iirc. People on Nintendo sites think the original leak was the full thing. It was only 10gb of the 1tb. The hackers are progressively leaking more and more over time to try get Capcom to pay up. But again, logic and attention on a Nintendo site.....
Mh game making formula needs an update, they should take the freedoms created by Skyrim and add it to Mh games, imagine creating your own house with a rathalos head, that you hunted, on a wall or opening your own shop selling items you get from hunting, or the game allowing you to learn smithing and armor crafting which would allow you to make better gear than the game npc can make for you and so on, hell at least make it to where every so often you have to fight off monsters trying to get in to the city and so on.
@Menchi But Sony buying exclusives and get control of the industry on a much larger scale than Nintendo is ok because?
@Jeronan My comment has nothing to do with if Nintendo did pay for exclusivity or not. It's about whoever put this information out there cannot be trusted, so therefore it's merely a rumour.
Just looking through the comments here reminds me of just how sad, sad, saaaaad a bunch of gamers can be.
Nintendo paid to keep the game on the Switch - shock horror, they have done this multiple times, as have Sony, as have MS, be it permanently (fully funded) or timed (part funded).
They were probably made aware that a PC version was on the cards, but wanted a period where all the focus was on Switch.
It's business, money changes hands all of the time, get over it.
sigh
pc it is then. ain't playing that at 30fps with drops and possibly very low resolution in handheld or dock. The concept of the switch is cool but they really gotta think about a better switch that would offer 60fps at at least 900p on the go.
I never play anything but strategy games on PC, so looking forward for this one on Switch. Pretty strange some people, on a Nintendo focused site, actually seems to get angry that people choose to play on Switch, or consoles in general, over PC.
@Casual_Gamer95
There's not gonna be low resolution. The game is built ground up for Switch. This isnt some PS4 game downscaled for a port. The footage makes it pretty clear the MH Rise is the most stunning handheld game ever released in the history of the medium, and easily the best looking game on Switch.
It doesnt need 60fps, in fact World was the same framerate (with drops into mid 20s) on PS4/X1, and 10 million people played on those systems just fine. Of course, if you're one of those "I cant play any game in sub-60" I'm not sure any console is a good choice for you. Kinda wasting your time on Switch if that's your priority (btw 900p definitely isnt needed for handheld on a 6" screen- this game is going to look mind blowingly gorgeous on handheld, without question).
@Randominternetperson
It's not about marketing, my friend. There are legitimate differences between Rise and World in terms of actual gameplay structure. The open arena style maps and the tracking system in particular. The game was specifically designed around portable play. That's not to say it can't be enjoyed on the TV also (after all, Switch docks) but it's not the brand of play they wish to present to the power console crowd.
Theres a reason this game was never planned for Playsfation or Xbox. Just like there was a reason World was never designed for Switch. PC market is more accepting and there isnt much overlap (huge chunk of MH World's sales on PC came from China/Asia). Nobody really cares about putting games on that platform.
But ya, the fact Capcom chose to make Monster Hunter Rise Switch console exclusive speaks for itself, and goes to show its not just "marketing".
That's... A very small amount of money. Way smaller than I would have thought.
Yeah.. this is bad. It shows Crap on really doesn't support the Switch after all. The crazy thing is how Nintendo handheld customers did more for Monster Hunter than any other device yet somehow Crapcom has doubts? Hopefully that 6milli bites Crapcom in the rear and the Switch version destroys all the other versions. Otherwise Nintendo wasted money and Crapcom will continue doing stupid business
@glaemay Please point to where I said that.
Whataboutism damage control when you have no argument, you hate to see it.
Now, how fast will this kill the switch and its battery?
Capcom was weary of releasing a game on what has been the best selling game system in many regions for months at a time, years in some cases?
Weary about what exactly???
Just pretend you're fixing bugs for the PC version, then release it more broken, like you did with Iceborne.
when is nintendo life gonna stop posting about rumors , its just misleading and unfair for the companies
@Agramonte actually I also have all of the MH as well. But now they are no longer the price when I got them.
What I find amazing when something goes Switch portable it becomes a SIN for that to happen.
@JaxonH
That makes no sense though. Yes the maps and tracking system is different from World, but that's just World being unique in its own thing. The 'new' system isn't anything special or tailored towards the Switch. The next multiplatform MH for example won't have tracks and as condensed maps as World for example...
The main reason why it's on the Switch is because it's being worked by the B team. Ichinose always did the portable series under a budget. It's simple as that, there is no stupid gameplay reasoning. Graphics is a non issue as well, as everything is downscaled, not the other way around. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with it on the Switch as long as it looks exactly like the gameplay footages we are seeing now. The first trailer was extremely rough, it has gotten better. It still sucks that Nintendo paid to delay PC release, I mean companies do that for consoles but never really PC, they definitely didn't want to be overshadowed.
@Randominternetperson
With respect, that's actually not correct.
The developers specifically explained how the new tracking system and map design is centered around a quicker pick up and play experience. A MH game where the focus isnt on finding the monster, and is instead on getting into the action quickly if one so desires. The maps are designed with more arena styled areas also, where fighting takes more spotlight than the world itself.
Again, the fact Capcom specifically chose to not release on PS/Xbox is due to the different styles of design. Its why they have a portable team that focuses on portable MH experiences. They dont want to present this style to the power console fanbase. Because it possesses a different design ethos. If that were not the case, it would be on PS/Xbox. They want to preserve the World style experience for power consoles, and not turn people off with a game designed around quick play sessions.
As for the exclusivity, I totally agree. It was console exclusive anyways. Who cares about PC. Most PC gamers either will never buy a Switch no matter what, or already own one and want this game portably. Theres little to be gained when you're already console exclusive and the only AAA portable hybrid MH on the market.
But at the end of the day, I just wanna play some Monster Hunter. That demo cant come soon enough
@Heavyarms55
Probably wary of the opportunity cost of doing so. They're trying to grow the brand, and PC version of World sold big in non-JP Asian regions and China.
While no doubt it will do crazy numbers on Switch keep in mind this is no longer recycled MH #3 on the 3DS with a shoestring budget. This is a massive AAA game with budget to match. And while World had the benefit of 3 separate platforms to capitalize on, Switch alone can only do so much. I cant see Switch matching World's insane 15 million, for example. But Switch + PC? That will actually have a shot. At the very least it'll do 10 mil, which even that would be too much for Switch alone
So PC makes the Switch release more financially viable. It helps justify the massive AAA budget. And that in turn makes Switch itself more viable as a target platform, which in the end, benefits us and helps ensure we continue to see higher budget console exclusive games built ground up for the system.
If this ends up to be true, I hope crossplay is a thing so I can play with my friend. If not, I could always buy the game twice with Switch as my primary save. I'm more of a solo hunter, but played pretty much exclusively co-op with my friend in MHW. MHW was his first MH game so I just had to play it slowly with him.
@Heavyarms55 It's the best selling system because it released on the tail-end of the generation. Everyone who wanted a Ps4 or Xbox One already bought them, years ago. 😂🤣
@Mhayes111387 Weakest troll I have seen in a while.
@Heavyarms55 Speaking the truth is trolling? I myself own a Switch, I'm just not some delusional, fanboy loser.
@SwitchForce Nice... I like that you can swap riders.

That stand is awesome. About the part of picking what time exclusives to support. Just hope Capcom will spend the cash and make a great Switch version. I do not trust Capcom on Switch to give it their all, now they have 6Million buy-in to live up to.
Anyway 100% with all that. This is part of a 3 month Switch caravan next year. Glad it is last, because It will suck the air out of the room for me.
1. Ryza 2 - jan 26
2. P5 Strikers - Feb 22
3. Bravely Default 2 - Feb 26
4. MH: Rise - March 26
Happy to drop cash on stuff. But I do not like thinking I am getting robbed. I also love Digital Art as a profession. So there is a limit on how much a game can get get diluted. At some point it is like going to a museum with dirty glasses or listening to Yefim Bronfman with tin soup cans for me. I'm Not seeing what they made, why if I need a new 3080 to see Cyberpunk maxed out... So be it (PS4 was never an option)
@Agramonte
Ya, Outer Worlds was like that for me on switch. Just couldnt do it. More power to the people who can tolerate it visually, spoken to several people who say they had a blast on Switch, but for me personally, it crossed a line too far. DOOM Eternal, on the other hand, is excellent. Looks good, runs really smooth, gyro is perfect, and the brief quality drops are in motion when you're ripping and tearing at 1000mph so you never notice. Still play on Steam from time to time, but I really like playing on the Lite.
Cyberpunk, oh man. Frickin game blocked virtual mouse detection so, no gyro or trackpad on steam controller. Used a hex edit to fix it though, now it works perfectly with mouse gyro. I'm still using a 2080 ti, but I'm hitting 1440p 60fps with raytracing on max settings. Good enough for me. I want a 3080 but, I'd rather skip a generation or two in between upgrades.
Bravely Default 2 final demo just dropped. Gonna go check that out. At least Atelier Ryza 2, Bravely Default 2, Persona 5 Strikers and Mario 3D World will distract until Monster Hunter. I'm so hyped for Rise I think of little else. See all the new weapon video showcases? They accidentally got posted on their France site, so I saw them before they were made private.
The hunting horn, Switch Axe and Charge Blade are absolutely sick.
@JaxonH Yeah I had a EVGA 1080ti Ftw in that box. So took the plunge. If you have a 2080ti, you really do not need anything else. RT cores in the 3080 still not prime time. It gets hammered once you turn it on.
YES!!!. I knew I was missing a game... Bravely Default 2 (edited). No I guess I missed it, saw the ones on Gematsu. Yeah, super excited with what I have seen. That I missed cooler stuff is just crazy.

@Agramonte
The remaining 6 weapons will be revealed in the next couple days anyways.
That hammer though... “extinction event from the sky”... on a T-Rex lol. So appropriate. In Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, you hunt the comet. In Monster Hunter Rise, you ARE the comet.
I need that Royal Ludroth armor. I NEED it.
@NEStalgia laughs in Bayonetta, Ultimate Alliance, Deadly Premonition, and more recently, Disgaea (outside Japan)
@JaxonH I wasn't paying much attention to Rise, honestly, but what you said about quick pick up and play sounds really interesting. It's now on my radar!
@NEStalgia
Oh man, if you aren’t into Monster Hunter, now’s the time to get in.
Rise will certainly be one of the greatest video games ever made, just as World was (although I wasn’t a fan of how World stretched content with tempered and arch tempered monsters, and the Iceborn clutch claw which felt more like you were being punished for not using it than being rewarded for using it- even so, it’s still my favorite video game of all time, which goes to show how amazing it is if even those flaws couldn’t hold it back).
It’s probably going to be even better than World, for numerous reasons I could write a book about. Suffice it to say, this is a game you should definitely be playing. It’s a game every Switch owner should be playing.
i told everyone that Monster Hunter Rise would never be a exclusive to Switch, Capcom is too cautious with Switch, they even plan release the game on PC and later on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 maybe?
@Giancarlothomaz
Not anymore. After seeing the Switch has sold a lot of units, technically outselling xbox one, Capcom will continue to support the platform.
