Over the past few months, Switch owners all around the world have been transforming their living rooms into makeshift workout areas, gripping their trusty Ring Fit Adventure Ring-Con to get in some much-needed exercise during lockdown.
In fact, the game actually celebrated its first anniversary just yesterday, meaning we've been playing Nintendo's new fitness RPG – to varying degrees, we imagine – for exactly a year. As such, we thought it'd be interesting to see just how many of you have decided to pick up a copy, and how many of you are still going strong with it a year later.

Got it and played solidly for about 5 weeks in Spring 2020. Then just stopped. Partly a weather thing - my living room simply got too hot. Unfortunately I haven't picked it back up now the seasons are changing. I hope to, but just can't will myself to.
Bought it close to launch and play it now and again. Surprising as I played wii fit, wii fit plus and wii fit u almost daily for years (or whenever I could so daily). Back then I didn't do my own regular outdoor running though.
It really is a good game that works really well. The Mrs and I play it.
As somebody who purchased 3 of the 4 Labo, or was it 4 of 5?, I'm kind of the Target audience for gaming peripherals, but this 1 just hasn't pulled me in yet. $80 is a bit risky for something I may play for only an hour or 2. Those Labo sets I purchased were all on clearance about $20 or gift cards or whatever, none close to MSRP.
Target will clearance them out someday I suspect. Maybe when the pandemic is over and we can go back outside again.
Used it throughout lockdown in UK intermixed with usual runs Since spraining ankle it's been perfect for recovery and keeping form Definitely transformed shape but needs consistent hard work and downside is it doesn't build muscle so much as strengthen it Currently level 426 and on world 3 playthrough
It's a game that I'd wanted to play, but there's no where practical at home to play it. Space is too limited, or stamping about would cause the room and furniture to shake.
@LatsaSpege I'm not sure if I'm impressed or terrified by that statement because mine is set to only 21 and I get super tired after 15-20 minutes of play.
This game is one of the main reasons I'm staying fit this year! I absolutely love it! The only thing that could make it better for me is if I could download it so I don't need to keep switching cartridges all the time.
Still a part of my weekly workout schedule (days when I don't go for a run). I've really enjoyed it so far - I appreciate its focus on utilizing your entire body. Also, I loved being able to work out with it while recovering from my knee injury by turning on Knee Assist mode. Very fun game and excellent fitness tool.
I purchased it and sold it within a few weeks as I didn’t ever take Animal Crossing out to play it. Thankfully I got almost all my money back thanks to extremely high demand.
Does anybody here remember the platformgame Pademonium 1&2 on the psx? It would work really well with the ringcon! I like
Ringfit, fun workout next to running and BodyCombat.
Still isn't available here in Brazil so I bought it January when my siste brought it over from the UK. Boy if I only knew how much I'd need it.... It's basically my only source of exercise now since the pandemic started. I haven't been able to hop in every day because of work commitments, but I'm around day 130 and I did notice some significant changes to my body. Thanks, Nintendo!
For those worried that they don’t have enough space, most of the exercises can be done just standing in place. And you get to choose most of the exercises, so you can exclude those that have you stretched out on the ground.
I bought it earlier this year and played it daily for 2 months or so. I took it with me to my family's place when my summer vacation started but I didn't play it much there. Then I never got back to it. I'd like to but I keep putting it off mostly due to laziness.
I got the Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus, and Balance Board for the Wii, and played that off and on for a short time, but not much. Then I got the Wii Fit U for the Wii U and used the same Balance Board. I made a conscious effort to put real time into it. I forced myself to play the Wii Fit U for a minimum of 1 hour per session, a minimum of 3 times a day. I successfully did that for a couple of months, every single day, without missing a day. Then, my job sent me out of State for 2 months, and I debated about taking it with me or not. But, I was going to be training people, and putting in long hours, and hanging out with other trainers before and after work. So, I chose not to bring it, because I wouldn't have time anyways. 2 months later, when I got home, I was going to force myself to play, but I figured, ehh, one more day without playing won't hurt. That turned into 2. Then 3. Then, on day 4 or 5 of being home, I felt it was time to get back into routine, and I started it, and didn't have the drive to keep it up. I felt like I was forcing it too much, and the interest and motivation just wasn't there anymore. I found myself sitting on my bed, or laying back, with my feet on the floor, on the balance board, as I went through the motions on the board with my feet, to get the results in the game, so the game thought I was doing stuff. But I wasn't. I just wasn't feeling like getting back into it, and the more I forced myself to try to get back into routine, the more I didn't want to continue with it. So, eventually I stopped, and never touched it again. If I hadn't of taken that 2 months break, I would of kept going for a long time. But that break totally took me out of the mood to continue on with it. And I fear that if I were to start Ring Fit Adventure, at some point, something will stop me and I will just lose interest in continuing it. Tho, I do, admittedly, sometimes think I should pick it up and start it. Perhaps even just doing it once a day, for a few minutes, instead of the previous 3 times, for an hour each. But, I haven't bothered to get it yet. Maybe one day. I just also have so many other games to play as well, that I feel like I would just get distracted with other games. Especially when I have a lot pre-ordered that all come out within the next couple of months. So, an influx of all kinds of new games is coming, which will also take me out of wanting to play Ring Fit Adventure. So, maybe one day, but I doubt I'll get it anytime soon. Tho, again, I do think about getting it, from time to time.
Bought this a few months back and never even played it, oops. Ireland is going back into lockdown in the next few days so I'm determined to use it then once gyms close!
@mjharper I love it for that exact reason. Hut my knee playing tennis, just upped my time in ring fit while doing the "quiet" mode. Just made sure my attacks didn't stress my knee too much.
I bought it around January, and play 2-3 times a week most weeks (my goal is 3-4 times, but a lot depends on my work schedule). I took a month or so off during the summer but got back into the routine since then. I finished the story recently and am in extra levels now.
I feel like it's been very good for me as someone who tries to exercise but tends to procrastinate or just be lazy about it. But it's just like old-school exercise, it mostly depends on you and your level of dedication. I don't think of it as a game at all, it's just my interactive workout.
I have noticed that among my Switch friends, about 90% tend to really go at it almost every day for a month or two and then drop out, while 10% are at it regularly for months and months.
I admit that although at first it was great, the lack of multiplayer was a factor of me getting off of it. Finding fitness boxing and being able to do coop there sold the deal. FB arguably gave me a better workout as well, cardio and strength-wise I find. Sold my RingFit at the height of the pandemic as well for a very good amount to boot.
I’m looking forward to upgrading to fitness boxing 2 possibly, but really upset we won’t get the seemingly Asia-only FiNC Fitness game announced a few months back...
My roomate was excited to buy it for the three of us... he's played it once, as has my other roommate, and I keep putting it off. Me and my other roommate are in pretty good shape already, so we haven't really touched it since that one night, but I think it's still buried somewhere deep in our backlogs...
Since it's getting colder again, and my outdoors boxing training "gym" sees less use, I will get back to RFA. I love it, and think I left at about level 250 (I remember having purchased every possible upgrade/move, from every upgrade to the skill tree), on the hardest setting. Great cardio training, and a great way to get you to do it daily and challenge yourself. It will also be a great way to keep warm in the coming winter, it gets really cold in my forest cabin here, and since I don't cut trees to burn them, I haven't got enough firewood, so I'll need to burn some calories inside my body as well.
However, I wanted to vote "N/A - my joycons don't work anymore."
I played the game a bit last year when it came out, and loved it. I want to play it more.
But ever since last Christmas, my Switch no longer reacts properly to joy cons and other wireless controllers like my Pro Controller from any distance beyond a 3' radius. So I can't play the game, nor other Joycon specific games of mine like LABO! Boo.
Me? Still trying to buy it at non-scalpers' pricing Where I live it's really hard to find it, and gaming store sell it for the price of a brand new Nintendo Switch
Love it, play it every 3 days or so for 30 minutes, want a sequel.
-Make exercises have an independent difficulty setting (some are way harder than others) -More forgiving system when the Joycons don’t register properly. So many failed mini games and extra challenging workouts that encourage pain/cheating/bad form to win. -More beyond New Game++. I would gladly pay for DLC.
Even though it hasn't been my main workout routine, it has helped keep me IN a routine, instead of falling off the wagon as soon as I'm in a slump.
I'm used to walking miles a day so I've been in decent enough shape that I don't regularly exercise. But when the coronatimes hit, I suddenly realized my only excerise was walking between my work desk and the kitchen, and it was starting to show.
So its really been a huge help in keeping me from being sedentary, though I've started utilizing other non-video game workouts once I hit a wall with RingFit. But like I said, it's a great way to keep the momentum going, and its pretty fun for what it is.
@Lawnachaun I very much had the same concerns about how willing I'd be to stick with it. And what's really helped me out is that when I'm not feeling in the mood to do a level, there's a "quick workout" option that takes you through targeted routines. You can even set your own custom workouts, and I made one for when I dont have the energy that's just made up of a couple fun minigames. Having that low commitment option has been really helpful in keeping a routine going and not forgetting about it entirely.
I appreciate the N/A don't own it option. I've been tempted, but that's a lot of money for something I'd eventually drop a week or so in. I have zero willpower.
Fitness Boxing is my go to far more than Ring Fit, simply because it really is a good cardio workout once you get to 30+ minutes on it. Looking forward to the sequel.
With Ring Fit, I utilize custom mode a lot and develop drills that take me about 10+ minutes each. It does make me miss actually lifting things, though.
Got it at launch and still play it almost everyday. I usually get in about 30 min per day. I kind of cycle between adventure mode and custom routine mode depending on my mood.
I also go for walks a few times a day with my Wii Fit Meter.
@Lawnachaun Hey I feel you. When I got ring fit I actually gave myself a challenge and said that I can't play any games unless I played ring fit first. Doesn't matter how long, but just get it in to and it's worked wonderfully for me for just about 55 days to the day of almost playing it everyday. I've built a habit of getting in at least 30 "active" minutes in of play time everyday, and while I don't see any results from that yet, I definitely feel much more fit all around as I am a notorious skipper of any exercise not related to arms or chest.
@ToadBrigade I sympathise with this. If I’m going to exercise, I generally prefer to get outside into the fresh air, rather than be stuck in a confined space breathing other people’s sweat. Which is I’ve always preferred running and cycling to going to the gym.
And Ring Fit is not - in my mind - really a proper substitute to going for a run or a cycle. But for me at least, it does present a decent substitute to the gym, as a lot of activities involve upper body work, which is not something I do a lot of otherwise. I suppose I could just do press-ups or some sort of indoor weight work instead, but I find Ring Fit a lot more engaging than that.
So yeah, I don’t think it’s a substitute for actual running (unless you’re literally stuck indoors), but I’ve found it can be a good complement to it.
My apartment is too small to ensure enough space is around me. This is more criticism of my tiny flat, but I'm moving house next year. Playing it makes me feel claustrophobic, I prefer going outside for a run.
@Anguspuss it went from being totally completely sold out and impossible to find, to literally half a dozen copies (it’s a big box) sitting locked up in Target’s glass cases. I see them everywhere now. Funny how that works.
pleasantly surprised to see how frequently owners still play the game. ive been going off and on with it. around 40 days of playing from the 9 months ive had it. im still hoping i can get back into a proper routine again
I just posted my stats in the IGN NVC Facebook group. Just "beat the game" last week, started New Game+. I've lost about 20lbs in the last month or so (I've played it every single day and stopped eating bread lol) so I cannot recommend it enough! I am globally top 10 in the shoulder press, and top 150 in dozens of others. Custom Workouts are also a great way to change it up, have the rhythm game count toward your stats, and are a perfect warm up. This is quietly been maybe my favorite Switch game outside of BoTW. I'd def pay for DLC, and if theres a sequel I will be buying it day 1.
I bought an Oculus Quest just before lockdown. So, i'm doing my fitness with Beat Saber and others VR games ! It's so much different than Switch, and i like it.
I picked it up when it launched, but, don't play the game all that often. But, I like to squeeze the ring while I'm watching TV or whatever and get the experience points.
After purchasing it a bit after launch, I played it about once a week for about a month and a half. Haven't played it since (but I should again). My wife, on the other hand, played it every day for a good 4 or 5 months. She's stopped since, too, however.
The 34% of the 2nd poll that doesn't own the game is about equal to the 24% who are thinking about getting it but don't own it yet plus the 11% of those not interested in the first poll.
I purchased mine in January. Then set it to one side. After the pandemic hit and the following lockdown I started to use it be cause I could no longer cycle to work.
I have been playing regularly since roughly 4-6 times a week. according to my switch I have sunk over 150 hours into it since launch and considering I have done approx 45 active minutes on it each time which equates to 90-120 minutes playing time, it's safe to say I have noticed the difference.
@Desrever@0ohHeWrong Yeah, for me, I don't mind starting to get into the groove of things. But after a while, I lose total motivation and am more interested in other things that come up. So, I only stick with stuff like that for so long. Once I have a good groove on it, I'll continue with it for a long while. But if something comes along that messes up my routine, its hard for me to get back in the swing of things again. Usually because I'm not interested in it anymore, or don't want to put the effort into it, or, because there's 1000 other things I'd rather be doing.

Bought it day one. Playing on and off. And yes, I definitely feel healthier when doing some exercise with RFA
Bought it earlier this year. I've uhh... well, not quite got around to opening it yet
Where is the "Played it on the hardest difficulty and still did not break a sweat" option?
Ring Fit Adventure is the one time that I didn't feel like a loser playing stupid Nintendo games. 😄👍
Got it and played solidly for about 5 weeks in Spring 2020. Then just stopped. Partly a weather thing - my living room simply got too hot. Unfortunately I haven't picked it back up now the seasons are changing. I hope to, but just can't will myself to.

@rjejr poll results actually don't make much sense to me.
37% of 103 votes bought the game at or near launch, leading that poll.... but 36% of 97 votes leading that poll claim they don't own the game?
@LatsaSpege I'm not sure if I'm impressed or terrified by that statement because mine is set to only 21 and I get super tired after 15-20 minutes of play.

Purchased back in late May, my roommate uses it almost every day, l have it as part of my work out along with swimming and tennis.
@mjharper I love it for that exact reason. Hut my knee playing tennis, just upped my time in ring fit while doing the "quiet" mode. Just made sure my attacks didn't stress my knee too much.
I bought it then a month later found out I had Psoriatic Arthritis.
So I have been too stiff to play much. But it is very fun.
It's supplemental to my main weightlifting, but not every day. I like it better than I did Wii Fit and Wii Fit U.
I think I've finally developed a good habit of using it five days a week. Before the start of my work day I put in a short work out.
I feel pretty good about it. I really do think I can keep a regular commitment to this.
Level 220 and still going. It’s been a life changer that has helped me in developing healthier habits.
I bought it around January, and play 2-3 times a week most weeks (my goal is 3-4 times, but a lot depends on my work schedule). I took a month or so off during the summer but got back into the routine since then. I finished the story recently and am in extra levels now.

Need another option.
I voted yes, it's pretty fun.
However, I wanted to vote "N/A - my joycons don't work anymore."

Where I live it's really hard to find it, and gaming store sell it for the price of a brand new Nintendo Switch

Today is day 235 for me. Level 477, 120.5 hours of active exercise time.
This software is amazing.
I appreciate the N/A don't own it option. I've been tempted, but that's a lot of money for something I'd eventually drop a week or so in. I have zero willpower.
I've really been wanting to get this but it's pretty expensive.... hmm.

Both games have been Covid lifesavers for me.
I fell out of using it when the weather warmed up, but when winter hits again I'm looking forward to breaking it out again! It's a very charming game.
It's like a regular gym, I always tell myself I want to start playing again but I never do.
I don't think "I don't Have the game" should've been an option...
I got it after my recent move and I do like it; I'm just normally inactive so I need to keep convincing myself to use it.
Got it at launch and still play it almost everyday. I usually get in about 30 min per day. I kind of cycle between adventure mode and custom routine mode depending on my mood.

@Sutekh I literally just thought of this exact same thing a couple days ago, would be nice to just have it downloaded.

Ring Fit is my most played Switch game and I don't plan on stopping, especially with these Covid procedures.
Where is the option for bought it but haven't opened/played it yet, lockdown got me being lazy tbh.
I've never been interested because my ring was already fit enough.
@LatsaSpege not to offend but I did not expect this from someone with a celeste profile picture
@Kyloctopus good job dude awesome job
I picked it up when it launched, but, don't play the game all that often. But, I like to squeeze the ring while I'm watching TV or whatever and get the experience points.
After purchasing it a bit after launch, I played it about once a week for about a month and a half. Haven't played it since (but I should again). My wife, on the other hand, played it every day for a good 4 or 5 months. She's stopped since, too, however.
@SpaceKaren What part doesn't make sense?
@Desrever @0ohHeWrong Yeah, for me, I don't mind starting to get into the groove of things.
