Beenox released its final major content update for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled back in March, but since then fans have been requesting more updates for the game.
The developer has now issued a reminder on its social channels, explaining how the Beenox Pack was the "final" update for the game and that there's no additional content in the works. On the plus side, it does have "some other things" that it can't quite mention yet. Here's the full post via the company's Twitter account:
As noted above, Beenox is also currently busy with Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. Sadly, there's been no mention of this title making its way across to the Nintendo Switch just yet.
Publisher Activision previously said it was still evaluating additional platforms for the fourth entry, and more recently, it was discovered the source code of the official game site featured a 'Nintendo Switch' buy option.
Are you still playing CTR on a regular basis? Would you like to see Beenox's next Crash game make the Switch? Tell us below.

The game actually managed to slip my radar. There's just been so many games coming out and such a sort time that it's hard to keep up.
CTR was so fricken amazing, and the team put in SO much effort, so I say good on Beenox! It would've been nice to know this earlier, though...
I still play CTR online here and there. Never thought I'd play CTR more than MK8, but here we are.
CTR 275 hours
MK8 250 hours.
If the next crash bandicoot platformer is as punishing as the trilogy, Im not sure it's for me. I like the crash universe though. Gimme another CTR any day.
Scummy microtransactions non-withstanding this was an absolutely superb racing game, in my eyes beating any given Mario Kart and standing tall with some of my other genre favourites like F-Zero X & GX and Diddy Kong Racing.
Are there any restrictions when starting with the game now? I mean, was there some content during the Update Phase that are not available anymore now? Or did they bring in nee stuff that is still in there?
Because I bought the game yesterday and I'm curious to see what it brings on the table.
@Tisteg80
I think everything should be available through the in game shop (barring a vehicle used for a charity fundraiser and the PS exclusive retro skins). It's a grind to get everything from the store though, unless you play online regularly or pay for in game currency.
Good grief, does that mean I can finally unlock everything now?
Assuming I’m good enough of course.
I’m not even gonna try dev times... I’m not enough of a masochist for it.
Their MTX shenanigans sadly completely killed my enjoyment for the game.
The tournament unlocks being timed exclusives with some ridiculous ingame money prices (Which conveniently became purchasable for real money shortly after, instead of changing the ingame rates) severely kicked my FOMO.
The low payout plus the wonky internet connection meant that i would have to spend ridiculous hours with the game to get all tourney unlocks in time, which i just wasn't willing to do.
The game was great, but not that great...
So yeah, this nonense sadly made me shelf it entirely. A shame really...
Waiting for the PC port. Hoping it comes out soon.
They did an amazing job and there's enough content to keep playing the game.
A good kart game somewhat spoiled by its microtransactions but never even close to Mario Kart 8, come on Nintendo where is number 9?
I enjoyed the original back in the day but didn't enjoy the remake on the Switch. None of the control options were quite right for me, the shop and microtransactions were awful and the game just felt outdated to me and basically a waste of time to play when I could just play Mario Kart 8 instead. One of the few Switch games I regret buying.
Glad we got it on the Switch. Good game. Always loved me a bit of Crash Bandi in the historical PS days (& now I guess).
@Expa0,
Its a great game bit not even close to Mario Kart 8, the 8th installment of the Mario kart series is sublime, the Switch deluxe version added the icing to an already awesome cake, with the improved resolution, battle mode, and all the DLC included, and sales of the game prove this.
Great game. Was hoping they'd patch the load times at some point though. They're brutal.
CTR nitro amazing single player and terrible online multiplayer. MK8 is superb online and just a bit more polished than CTR in my opinion although both are very different games.
Anyone saying this is as good as MK8 is on the glue, not even close.
@johnvboy
I get you're a hardcore Nintendo fan - so am I - but "good" is one hell of an understatement.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is pretty much the only MK able to beat CTR - Crash otherwise easily triumphs over the other MKs, period.
I think I jumped off after the last Grandprix. But it seems there was quite some cool stuff after that, I have to check that out soon.
new spyro please!
@AlexSora89
CTR easily triumphs over Mario Kart 8 Deluxe too. I never understood the praise towards MK8DX, it has become the definition of an overhyped videogame for me.
MK8DX for me is still the champion but CTR was much much better than I expected it would be....
Great controls, graphics and the gradual increase of free tracks added after release for months was great...
I kept coming back to play the new tracks, then found myself playing the game again for long periods afterwards...
Seriously good game, well worth purchasing, especially when on offer...
Anyone on the fence about gettting it, don't be, come down from that fence and play CTR!! 🤣🤣
@AlexSora89,
All only opinions fella, the handheld Mario kart games are all very good, with 7 being a stand out game for me.
Edited good to great for you.
@Luffymcduck,
It's not just universal praise for Mario Kart 8, the sales of the game back it up too.
Your comment gets ludicrous when you state it easily beats Mario kart 8.
@BANJO,
Without a doubt it's an awesome kart game, and with Sonic racing transformed are some of the better karting games out there.
Since it stopped having updates it has definitely lost it's magic, there isn't really anything to go for and more, no extra boost(see experience) to unlock and work for. The challenges seem lesser too and it still isn't easy to get coins so most extras are still locked behind the grind. This wasn't so bad when there was a need but now it is hard to keep going.
When released and reviewed it was a GREAT game.
Then they added micro transactions and locked content behind a ridiculous grind.
Ruined it for me.
They forced you to play online.
Pretty much took a great game and showed why modern gaming practises are anti gaming
@johnvboy
Appreciated. Though to be fair, only Super Circuit and DS (and, by extension, 8 Deluxe) are among the true greats. The lack of a single player single race mode (AKA "VS mode") utterly ruined the experience for me. I don't want to race CPUs throughout an entire cup - not with the Ambassador release of Super Circuit being right there. Total deal breaker - I have 7 just for the sake of brand loyalty.
@Luffymcduck
8 Deluxe makes for an all-around snappier experience. Almost instant loading times, better framerate for up to two players (a framerate snob, me... WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME, MODERN GAMING?!), and a better handling of character selection (as CTR now officially won't feature a "favorite kart setup" feature). 8 Deluxe has it all.
CTR can still wipe the floor with most other kart racers in the market, however. And the original 1999 release utterly obliterates the "masterpiece" that was Mario Kart 64.
@Tisteg80 it is now impossible to unlock the champion kart decals that were given out to the top 5% in the Grand Prix. There's about 8 of them. I was lucky enough to get the last 3.
@johnvboy
You seem to have this strange obsession with game having great sales meaning everyone thinks it's a great game that cannot be critised in any way. By that logic, Wii Play is one of the greatest games of all time.
I can agree with you about Sonic Racing Transformed though.
@AlexSora89
I just enjoy the track design and gameplay mechanics in CTR with higher skill ceiling. Me and my cousin are one of the few people who found MK8 track design too easy and the gameplay mechanics boring. CTR NF is in my top 10 games overall but it's the absolute lowest there due the loading times. 30 fps doesn't really bother me in this case. It would hurt my performance in say, F-Zero GX and even though CTR has the blue flame boost mechanic, I've been able to do it fine.
@stuntz0rZ
I didn't get the Halloween one, missed the top 5% by a narrow margin. I had to stop playing because I had work next morning.
@Luffymcduck,
Not strange in the slightest fella, and the reviews back up my points even more.
Liked Sonic racing transformed, nice new dynamic in that game.
