Next week sees the launch of Lair of the Clockwork God on Nintendo Switch, a point-and-click platformer that's bound to give you a good laugh along the way.
The game, developed by BATFA-winning studio Size Five Games, follows the story of Dan and Ben, two lifelong friends setting off on a journey to save the world from multiple apocalypses occurring at once. The two characters will need to solve puzzles in order to collect and craft items which can then be used to help explore their surroundings.
Lair of the Clockwork God has received 'very positive' user reviews since launching on Steam earlier this year, and currently sits as one of the best-reviewed PC games of the year so far on Metacritic. Size Five Games is known for releasing high-quality comedy games, including the satirical humour-based The Swindle and hilarious football game Behold The Kickmen.
The game's launching on Switch on 4th September and if you buy it before that date, you'll benefit from a 15% discount ($16.99 instead of $19.99). Dan Marshall, director at Size Five, says, "The game's overwhelmingly positive reception on Steam has been the fire in my belly all year, and I'm extremely excited to bring the game to other formats, and spread the joy to as many people as possible."

Oh man! Did know that effin' Ben and Dan were back in town!!
I enjoyed The Swindle on WiiU so this looks very promising.
Wow - that looks way better than I was expecting!
It looks decent. I'll put it on my wishlist.
Anyone know why this game is rated M?
I've been waiting for this to come to the Switch. Looks great and Beyond The Kickmen was very funny so I have high hopes.
@Yodalovesu It's probably rated M for some of the jokes which are innuendos (some of them are probably more than that), plus the fact that it's all the apocalypses probably isn't that child friendly.
I've played it on Steam, it's hilarious and some of the puzzles are brilliant (one of which I'm curious how it was translated to consoles 👀). Many of the jokes are definitely not little kid appropriate, but depending on what your teenagers are used to, it might be okay for them.
@Yodalovesu Dev here! The game contains all the swear words, and cartoon violence but no nudity/ sex. I filled in a form, and I guess "heavy swearing and some cartoon blood" is enough to justify an M rating. I'd say it's probably fine for 14-15 year olds, and I'm quite naive I bet most kids use all the swear works by about age 9 now.
Thank god! I was loving my time with it, but had to abruptly abandon my PC during lockdown.
People you seriously need to play this.
@danthat awesome, thanks for the response. The game looks really quite incredible! Wish you success with your Switch launch
only positive impressions here? It doesn't look very interesting to me, maybe reviews will change my mind
