Netflix has already turned the Castlevania video game series by Konami into a highly successful animated show. Now, following in its footsteps is a new anime based on Capcom's action role-playing game, Dragon's Dogma. It's launching on 17th of September.
As previously noted in the original announcement, back in 2019, the anime will be created by Sublimation, and in partnership with Anima and David Production. Here's the story outline from Netflix, along with some screens:
Ethan sets out to vanquish the Dragon that took his heart, but with every demon he battles, the more he loses his humanity.

This Looks SO eerie 😟
There’s a dragon, where’s Alan Rickman as a sexless angel?
Looks promising :3
Haven't played the game yet (even though I own it since day one) but I can see how an anime might turn out well. I will definitely give this a try.
Ahhhh no thanks, Dragon's dogma 2?
Currently playing this on Switch, pretty fun ARPG. Will definitely be interested in this anime.
Dragonheart is different to how I remember it.
@Spoony_Tech I played it a year or 2 ago and loved it. I put around 100 hour in but never finished it. I can see myself going back to it at some point and starting over again.
@OorWullie I played enough to know it feels a bit like Monster Hunter. I got too many games at once and it sat. I'm just now playing Diablo 3 and I bought that day one lol.
incredible game , hope this lives up
Is there really that much ownable in DD that warrants a series? Played quite a bit of it on Switch (solid game) but haven't really caught a lot that seems unique to it.
It’s sad seeing all these games farmed out like this while the publishers refuse to make new games.
Dragon's Dogma is one of my favorite games. I don't know if I'll watch this, but if it helps bring another Dragon's Dogma game, I'm all for it.
@Spoony_Tech
No, it's like Skyrim
Now this could be awesome.
@Dang69 It's fantasy, it cannot be unique, there's a million variants that already exist. However fantasy is very cool, and this game feels closer to a real D&D game than D&D games. So if somebody wants to create a pseudo-D&D anime, I'm all for it.
Fantastic, forgot all about this. Really hope they use the menu music from the game's first release as the opening music
Netflix on Switch pls. Thx.
They're calling it a classic series from capcom hahaha
Anyway, great time to release a sequel!
I LOVE DRAGON'S DOGMA! My expectations for this show are pretty low ( the game's story is lacking, I expect the same here), but I don't care. I will consume anything related to this game!
@YANDMAN I mean story and lore wise, even design wise there's nothing super unique here. I actually love the game, not throwing shade, and believe that BotW cribbed some ideas from it. There's things in it, enemies even and their behaviors that are so BotW-like.
@Priceless_Spork @Spoony_Tech
It is like- as one Yahtzee once said- baby's first skyrim.
The combat is phenomenal though, and the Dark Arisen content is... well, dark and eerie... and hard as nails. I played the hell out of this game on 360, got it again on Switch and have played the hell out of it again. You need to dive into this sheet.
@aznable I feel this game is more than just a skyrim kinda game, It's more a Japanese take on western fantasy games with an interesting albeit meagerly told story and amazing gameplay and depth.
I hold this game a lot dearer to my heart than Skyrim.
I hope this is better than the mess that is the game.
@khululy I agree with the eastern take on a western genre. Skyrim though... gosh I’ve bought it on two systems, and have only played a few hours. I’ve had a real hard time getting into it. The combat is so damn clunky, and character creation (at least unmodded on consoles) leaves a lot to be desired.
...not a fan of the Berserk2016-esque look.
