We've seen so many wonderful designs from Animal Crossing: New Horizons players over the past few weeks, so it's only right that one of Nintendo's most iconic level designs joins the list.
Yes, a Japanese player named だいち has transformed their once peaceful island into a world of bricks, Goombas and Koopa Troopas. Each and every step of Super Mario Bros.' famous World 1-1 stage has been recreated with floor tiles, and while it can't exactly be played, it sure does look cool.
We're still pottering about just putting the occasional flower down and failing to come up with anything imaginative, so hats off to everyone who has really made their island their own.

I would lose it if I had to make that much pixel art
That's cool, but ...why?
Hats off to this user. Very innovative use of mechanics. These Animal Crossing players are just bursting with imagination. Such an innovative group of gamers.
@DAHstroy to be fair it's not like you need to manually draw every single pixel of the map individually, it's tile based, so you just need one goomba, one floor tile, one sky tile, etc.
In my memories, 1-1 was a „bit“ longer than this.
@shyguy91 Because.........
Nope! He went backwards at 0:09 seconds, not allowed.
@shyguy91 well why not? it's cool and I wish I was as talented and had as much patience as these kind of people to create stuff like this.My island still looks more or less like it did three weeks ago.lol
@jeanrvasbinder Quick question.......how, and I really mean how, did Nintendo Life start getting targeted by Sex Bots? Its obvious no one should click the link provided bu the Bot I just tagged in this comment, who as of right now is above my comment but should be deleted by Moderators shortly. But I am just really wondering how they found their way onto this site of all places?
Either there is another video showing the level or you really have absolutely no recollection of World 1-1 in Super Mario Bros.?
this probably took a lot of work but it does look great.
Here's a fuller 1-1 that actually has platforming in AC: https://www.reddit.com/r/AnimalCrossing/comments/g0pvex/do_you_wanna_play_super_mario/
Yeah... this isn’t “every pixel of the classic level” nor is it “each and every step of it”.
Looking down at the minimap, it's almost as if the number of horizontal tiles it takes to build this level has been elevated to some kind of cosmic constant in the Nintendoverse.
@shyguy91
what do you you mean by why? we are doing these level recreations because we can. besides we having nothing else to do. (other than finding a way to make the level playable in animal crossing...)
@Jaxad0127
that better be a 5 Star island (damn took if its not)... if not, than hopefully the user found a way to make level 1-1 more enjoyable. and not just to watch, but to play as well. to me that island is 5 stars...
nook may not like Super Mario as much as the rest of us, but hopefully "he knows" what we are trying to do and will be happy enough to reward us for doing so with a collection of miles....
It looks fantastic, but after seeing so many of these already, I'm personally starting to wonder if more can be done with these pieces than just "Look at this Sprite art that came from that one game you remember!"
Nothing wrong with recreations of course, but it would be nice to see more people do something fresh and new with more of the custom DIY / terraforming tools rather than just a huge flat town with some ripped Sprite art thrown on top of it. That one town I saw where someone made an actually liveable city is kind of what I mean.

But to each their own. Just thought I'd share my nitpicks on something I'd never be able to do, great work all around regardless.
Now someone just needs to do Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog and my life will be complete.
