A new Sonic Forces or Lost Worlds game

It must be the announcement of the Sonic game that everyone is waiting for M2 to port to Switch...

I must live under a rock, as I have not heard of SXSW. lol

All I want is either Sonic 3 & Knuckles added to Sega Ages or the announcement of Sonic Mania 2.

Sonic Mania 2 - with Amy and the zones that were featured in that short cartoon, as well as Chao/a Chao Garden! That'd be wild.

Oh boy I can't wait for Team Sonic Racing 2 with characters that should've been there to begin with...

What if, Sonic Adventure 3? 🙄

Sega, back with yet another announcement of an announcement. It’ll just be a tease for a tease of something developed in-house that has a good chance of being not great

Shadow in Sonic mania 2.

It is really just Sonic with them. Besides Mania, none of the Sonic games in the last years were really good. And Mania itself included more recycled material from the old games anyway.

How can this series still be so good at sales numbers? I know that Sonic is popular, but most of its appeal comes from its characters and not from fun and quality gameplay experiences like Mario or Zelda offer. I swear if it wasn't for the appealing design this franchise would have died years ago.

And once again the other IPs get no attention at all. Sega has such a wide catalog of really good, creative, and fun games like Skies of Arcadia, Ristar, Nights, Billy Hatcher, Shining Force. It is a miracle that Streets of Rage got a new game.

Sonic the Movie the game

If only Sega could step back from their myopic focus on Sonic for long enough to realize that, no matter how many press events or hype they invest into the character, it's had and is continuing to have the opposite effect on many, MANY gamers from that which they intend. Gamers have been begging them for years or decades for re-releases or sequels to a laundry list of amazing and iconic IPs they've just sat on and allowed to collect dust; even their announcement a couple of years ago that they would be revisiting some of their other "classic" IPs has turned out to be largely lip service. The upcoming Panzer Dragoon remake and the Western localization of Phantasy Star Online 2, citing just two examples, are being handled by other publishers, and Shenmue 3 wouldn't have gotten made without a Kickstarter. The message that Sega is sending to their consumers (one that the entire videogame industry has adopted in many respects, sadly) is essentially, "We really don't care what you want. We're telling you what you're getting and we expect you to just keep buying our (Sonic-centric) products anyway".

Yes, I absolutely wish a company like Nintendo would absorb Sega, clean house of all the higher-ups that steered the company to its demise as a console-maker and have deliberately chosen to ignore the repeated requests of their consumers for two decades since then, and begin the task of restoring this brand to its former glory. The problem for Sega really is at the top, and has been for a LONG time now.

I don't care about Sonic Mania, the level design of the new zones is so amateur and the new songs are tacky. I want Sonic 3 & Knuckles remaster.

Sonic, sonic, sonic.... I had enough sonic.
They should do something different a crossover with a nintendo character or sonic in "nintendo land" or mushroom kingdom etc, that would spice the meal lol. And no not an olympic game.
But yeah just wishfull thinking, will never happen tho.

I really hope its not a Adventure game, that would definitely be a step back for the series. Again.

Ah yes- the old 'stay tuned!'... I just hope it's not like when Nintendo said to stay tuned to the Game Awards last year

Really surprised to see @Liam_Doolan hasn't caught on - the announcement will take place the 20th of the month, which coincides with SEGA's earlier announcement about Sonic news coming out the 20th of every month.

I hope Roger Craig Smith and Mike Pollock would be in it.

Wishlist:
Sega, Hasbro and Nickelodeon partnership for a new Sonic TV animated series in style of Team Sonic Racing Overdrive and Chao in Space titled Sonic the Hedgehog EX current voice actors including Roger Craig Smith, Mike Pollock and the others
Sonic the Hedgehog/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Team-up comics issues 1-7
A Sonic Adventure 1&2 remake and A Sonic adventure 3 or an adventure styled game, will be released in maybe next year.
New characters for a new Sonic game would be Two new brother and sister hedgehogs related to their cousin, Sonic, a new male echidna related to his older cousin, Knuckles, and a teenage male fox related to his cousin Tails and a new Lion villain character.

Fans can think of it at the event next month.

It'll either be another retro fan service or a big disappointment. Either way it's Sonic, better not be a Sonic Forces 2.

I want sonic to kiss all the hot anime babes.

The mishandling of that game is spooky stuff, Sega sent that game out to die and wouldn’t give it any DLC when it was obviously geared towards that. Why does Sega refuse to give people what they want when it’s in their best interest financially?
I can’t trust them to greenlit Mania 2 especially because it makes Sonic Team look even more irrelevant, Sonic Team wants to blow millions and years on the next terrible 3D game that plays like garbage because Sega and a segment of the fans enable them.

People out here acting like Sega milks Sonic hard when the last mainline Sonic game was 2 and a halve years ago and will probably be 4 by the time the next one comes out. Yes TSR happened, but that was outsourced to Sumo Digital.

A Japanese videogame game company won't be announcing a game about a hedgehog, all because some Chinese guy had to eat a bat.

A sequel to Sonic Mania is mandatory at this point. But I heard that many people that worked on Sonic Mania have left the company or they want to focus much more on their own games. So... I'm not sure if making a Mania 2 is such a good idea if there is a slight risk for the game to fail or do not leave up to people's expectations. Do not forget, Sonic Mania is Sega's highest praised Sonic game to date. If they get it wrong with a sequel, then they can say goodbye to the Sonic-2D-games.

There are also rumors of a potential remake of Sonic Adventure. But like with Mania, the Adventure games, although in my eyes there are not really good games, are still one of the more popular 3D-Sonic games with fans, maybe even the most popular ones. Just like with Mania, if Sega gets it wrong, then they can really cancel all future Sonic games.

The Sonic series was in my eyes more suited for television, comics, and movies. After all, it is the design and later also the memes that made this entire franchise so popular from the beginning with. There is really no other reason.

@Heavyarms55 South by Southwest (SWSX) is a huge music festival in Austin, TX that has become more about corporate sponsorship and less about music over the years. (see also: Sega making an announcement about Sonic at a music festival)

Growing up in Dallas, it was always awesome because all the bands you wanted to see in Austin would usually end up making a pitstop in Dallas before or after SXWS, so you could see all your favs without the 8 hour drive, and avoid all the sweaty stoners and $8 water bottles. (Just regular stoners and $5 bottled water)

Or alternatively a colours remake with some nice new bonus content, mmmm yes.

How's about delaying the Sonic panel until after the next Shining Force, Skies of Arcadia, Dragon Force, and Saturn and Arcade Classics Compilation panels, Sega? C'mon, we'll happily wait.

I don't really care what we get from Sonic, but I do hope for the following in the future:

Sonic Twitter Takeover 5, featuring Modern Sonic, Movie Sonic, Tails, Shadow and Eggman! You could ask Movie Sonic some questions like something related to the Olive Garden, or something like "How does he Dewey it" Or even who Shadow would be voiced by if he were to appear in a sequel!
