Genshin Impact has certainly gained a lot of attention lately thanks to its visual similarity to Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but the game is nonetheless shaping up to be quite a cool RPG experience – and IGN Japan has 12 minutes of new gameplay for us to gawp at, taken from the PC demo that will be playable at PAX East 2020 this weekend.
As well as giving players the chance to go hands-on with the PC version, developer miHoYo will also be showing off the PlayStation 4 and iOS versions of the game. The former, you might recall, was responsible for some ugly scenes when it was first revealed in 2019.
Genshin Impact is expected to launch worldwide this year on Switch, PS4, PC, iOS, and Android.

I think it looks rather lovely. Yes the similarities are there but I don't mind a Zelda clone if it is done with love and care and is enjoyable to play in its own right.
Is there any information on the pricing for this game? It's on my list of titles I want and I might just go for the PC version over the Switch if the pricing is more favourable.
And this game will launch on mobile devices? Impressive.
Someone... REALLYYYYYY wanted to make their own Z: BofW ...
Looks nice though/.
Why did this game ever get the huge amount of flack it did in the first place? It's not like BotW was the first game of it's kind, and even if it was why would you not want to see other developers take an idea that people loved and try to do some new things with it? If it was a cheap looking clone that added literally nothing to what BotW did, I'd understand, but from the get go it was pretty clear that mechanically this game had things BotW didn't, so why not give a game an opportunity to innovate a little instead of just raging cause it's so similar to another game??
Copy Paste from BTOW. The scenery, the enemies that sit in the fire, the menu with the items, even the flying with the wings are similar to Zelda. The fire on the grass, the sound effects and more. I didn't see the whole video, I couldn't..
I’m mixed on this game. I like the idea of it, a multiplayer BotW. The gameplay looks ok. Some of the parts looked really empty. Going to keep watching this for now.
Now I've got stomach cramps!

The little girl's squeaky, high-pitched voice is annoying, but the game looks awesome. I don't mind a game being a copy of another, as long as it's a good copy.
I don't mind a like alike as long as the game play is fun and exciting and challenging I can game for it.
@LowRyder
Because people thought it was a PS4 exclusive and automatically went "S0nY's C0pyinG N1ntEnD0 @ga1n!!!!!!!". Que the guy slamming his PS4 against the ground.
This is why I hate fanboys...
Looks great! I'm really looking forward to it!
The people whinging about the similarities between this title & BotW be like "OMG, grass! BotW has grass! They've copied all their assets!", yet they're totally complacent with the cut & paste CoD year on year & the dozens of clones that haunt mobile & other platforms, not to mention the hundreds of titles that are 'inspired' by other entries in similar / same genres. How many rogue lite 8 bit platformers are there? Compare that to games with a simlar art style to BotW - bit of a difference eh?
@Big-Pepsi Same. I can’t stand fanboys. In Germany, we say “A good copy is better, than a bad invention”. Genshin Impact looks awesome. And I’d also be open for more “copy-paste” games. How about a... Waluigi of War or Horizon: Peach’s Dawn? I’d play them!
They really did just say "what if Breath of the Wild, but MOAR ANIME!" didn't they? There's gliding, cooking, swimming, climbing, freezing water to walk on, campfires, monsters on lookout towers... heck I even saw one of those curly tailed squirrels which leave acorns when you scare them away! XD
Having said all that though, colour me excited. There seems to be enough here different from BotW to be interesting, I just hope they get it running well on the Switch.
@Lando_
Exactly, i'd rather play more games that are like Xenoblade for instance, after playing the first 2, I can't even look at other RPGs except tile based ones.
BOTW: Redux: Rebirth: LOZ.hack the Xrd
@Big-Pepsi That guy smashed a PS4 in protest of Sony bowing to Chinese censorship. Good to see all his efforts weren't wasted.
@Otoemetry Many of those systems have been in MMOs and other games for decades. Genshin just looked like it was a BotW mod on Cemu when it was first showcased, it looked that similar. Now it has shifted to having its own look and feel. Let's not forget the systems that aren't in BotW, like pets and character switching. Genshin is still unpolished and feels hollow but it isn't even out yet.
Looks good. Did not know it had character swaps.
Just makes me want Blue Protocol on PC even more.
@Krazzar don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to claim Nintendo invented those features in BotW. My point is that when you add everything together (including the shrine of resurrection opening cinematic which was ripped straight out of BotW) the game designers appear to be going to great lengths to copy the look and feel of Nintendo's creation, I'm not mad at it I just don't see how people can possibly claim any different.
I still want to play the game, like I said before there's plenty of stuff which seems distinct enough to warrant keeping an eye on its development. But to suggest that those systems existing in other games means this hasn't copied Breath of the Wild's style is disingenuous, it's plain to everyone with eyes how much they look alike.
@Otoemetry Those things have been in other games for years.
Just like - climbing up a tall location to scan a new part of a map or having weapons that break.
EDIT: Didn't see your last post till after I posted. Now I get what you were trying to point out. Yeah "look and feel" is there, for sure.
@Agramonte you're missing my point. Please refer to comment #22. It's not that all these systems were invented by Nintendo, it's the way in which they've been added to Genshin Impact to look almost identical to BotW. You can have any or all of those systems without making a game look like a carbon copy of another game, that is why people compare the two games and I don't think it's fair to dismiss those comments purely because swimming has been in games since 1992.
EDIT: in reference to your last comment, yes, that would have been the easier way to say it wouldn't it 😅
So why didn't BotW take a huge amount of flak for doing what its open world predecessors already did, like Skyrim and GTA? Why didn't Shovel Knight or Axiom Verge for drawing from their obvious inspirations?
I like that someone took inspiration from previous games, one of which was obviously BotW, and did their own thing with it. It's far better than those just who use others IPs to make games.
Looks great, definitely took heavy inspiration from BOTW though that doesn't bother me in the slightest. People need to stop taking this hobby so seriously
@Ainz It's a f2p game.
Hurry release it before BOTW2 and BOTW3 makes it out of the Barn......
What I want besides swimming is Diving like Witcher 3. That would makes it more exploration world to every inch of the game.
@Xiovanni one needs to separate their politics against the China Party versus actual software game programmers. They are not the same here.
Controversy makes me cringe and laugh. Game looks great, really hoping it makes it over to the west!
@Xiovanni Wait until you find out 80% of your belongings are made in China.
@Xiovanni Then you should send your Switch back to Nintendo as that is also made in China plants. You think Nintendo isn't doing this.
@Fazermint this is what people forgets. When you really look as your saying people will be surprised when they really look.
@Xiovanni by the looks of it, you're a basket case
Looks pretty good, I heard it's going to be free?
