Free-to-play fighter Brawlhalla is no stranger to cool crossover events, and that trend is continuing with the arrival of Tomb Raider's Lara Croft, who is joining the cast as part of the 3.57 patch.
The Tomb Raider Epic Crossover event will include "custom signature effects, a dedicated Roster spot, and an additional Skin that has its own unique Weapon Skins and lock-in animation," as well as "an animated Podium, new Temple Climb game mode, a permanent addition to Brawlhalla’s custom games, a new FFA map called Temple Ruins, bonus login Gold, and more."
You can find the full patch notes here, but in the meantime, let us know what you think about such a famous face joining the cast of Brawlhalla.

If I recall, Brawlhalla had Shovel Knight, Rayman, Hellboy, WWE wrestlers, and Adventure Time as characters.
If this is not the most ambitious crossover then I don't know what is
That's pretty cool, though I've been saying Lara Croft should make it into Smash for a while now. Hard to think of a more iconic character who hasn't joined the fight yet!
@Entrr_username They also have had Steven Universe characters before!
I ask this everytime I read a brawlhalla article on nintendolife and pushsquare cuz I keep forgetting.
Brawlhalla is ubisoft’s free to play smash clone right?
@darkswabber Yes.
@Entrr_username - And Rivals of Aether
I prefer this game to Smash Bros. Ultimate
@PhilMyth Same - Lara should be in Smash.
I'm happy for them to get a lot of Sony + Playstation associated characters.
@Kirbster1992 Had? Are some of these characters limited releases?
@KoopaTheQuick
I have difficulty in unlocking characters in Smash and I also find that I suffer from quite a lot of input lag during online matches with friends.
Speaking of which - why there is still not a single TR game on Switch?
@Kojin - That's a bold question for someone in porting distance.
That cartoon Lara's pretty hot, count me in 😍
It worries me when Brawlhalla gets a fighter it more or less takes them off the table for future Ultimate DLC. Like why would Rayman be in Smash now when he's already in what is essentially a Smash Bros game. Same now goes for Lara Croft who I had been hoping would appear in Ultimate as well.
@Kirbster1992 If they continue to add more characters from Cartoon Network, this game will become the Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion that never was.
That's one big addition. Like Smash level big. Kudos.
Great news for fans of Brawlhalla I guess. Personally I couldn't get into the game, to me it played like one of them free flash games you'd find on the likes of Newgrounds.
Not really into these types of games, but I love the characters they add to it. Just wish there was something I did like with a character selection like this, haha. Oh well, enjoy it.
@tendonerd They may be Sony associated characters but they own none of them. Sony had not much licences back in the day. That kinda ruined the PlayStation classic, btw.
To people that have been arguing about how "guest characters are only for Smash Bros. fans". Brawlhalla fans didn't ask for Lara Croft, at all. They instead want Tomb Raider fans to play their game. Now Brawlhalla is going to get a boost in downloads whereas Sakurai keeps spoon-feeding his own fanbase his vanity characters they may or may not want.
@tendonerd Lara Croft isn't a Sony character. In fact, the first platform Tomb Raider 1 was released on was the Sega Saturn in Europe.
@mist if you had trouble unlocking the characters in Ultimate, than maybe input lag shouldn't be your greatest concern
@Entrr_username it would be if you didn’t have to pay to actually use any of those characters
@PhilMyth Well, you've got to take it into account that Smash is a Japanese game, and mostly consists of characters that are iconic and important in Japan, and Tomb Raider is far from that. Not to mention they almost never include any characters made outside of Japan (out of the almost 80 characters, only 4 are not Japanese made). I could probably list at least 50 game series that are more well-known in Japan than Tomb Raider and don't have a fighter in Smash yet.
Sure, outside of Japan Lara and her games are very recognizable, and enough fan demand might get her in, but her chances in my opinion are much, much smaller than people think. I've been saying the same thing with Crash for a long time, but even Crash is much more well-known in Japan than Tomb Raider.
I'm still surprise Goku, Naruto, and Sora had not become playable characters for this game yet. They seem fitting for a game like this.
@Krisi Even when Crash never got a new game in nearly a decade while Tomb Raider had still been getting new installments?
@backup368 Yes. I might be wrong, but Tomb Raider was never much more than just a random game in Japan. Crash was much more heavily advertised, at least the first few games.
All these Brawlhalla crossovers are super cool, but I wish more of them were actual characters and not skins (like Rayman). I don’t plan on buying any skins ($10 for all characters is a good enough deal and skins cost too much), but this is amazing for the Brawlhalla dedicated!
Just give us remasters of the first three PS1 games and we'll be happy.
@DrDaisy No, actually- pretty sure you can still buy them with in-game currency.
@Emob That would be awesome! I think that Punch Time Explosion had some great ambition but so-so execution, so I would love to see some sort of modern version of it!
