Samurai Shodown has been updated to version 1.60, and the headline news here is that a new DLC character is now available.
Mina Majikina joins the likes of Rimururu, Basara, Kazuki Kazama and Wan-Fu as a paid-for fighter, and will be followed by Sogetsu Kazama, Iroha and one more yet-to-be-revealed character as part of the game's 'season 2' DLC run.
The update also brings with it a host of fixes for "minor issues and features," the most notable of which is Galford's "Machine Gun Dog" special move, which sees his faithful pooch Poppy dash towards enemies and munch gleefully on their tender limbs.
Apparently, prior to the fix, KOing an opponent while Poppy was biting them could sometimes result in them standing up instead of falling over. Oops.
We reviewed Samurai Shodown last week and gave it a not-to-be-sniffed-at 8/10 rating. How are you enjoying the game so far, and will you be purchasing Majikina? Let us know with a comment.

I am enjoying this game, will probably look at buying the DLC.
Having a really good time. I'm not great at it, but appreciate its (seemingly, at least) focus on well timed strikes and such as opposed to super combo heavy/special move gameplay. I'm digging it.
Hello my new main! I've been waiting for you.
@Thesharkfromjaws It takes some practice to improve but it's worth it. I also love the increased importance of smart strikes rather than extensive combos. It's a brilliant game.
Still can't beat Samurai Shodown II as the best in the series, but I'm enjoying this game so far.
Ill wait a bit, spend to much money already haha.
I feel like they took some inspiration from BOTW, I mean the wolf has a ribbon on the exact same leg as wolf link's chain!
@DockEllisD Good to hear. I'm going to main her cuz im partial to her design and to find a dark skinned character that matches this much of me is insane...I feel like its xmas or something. I'm going to bet that bow is going to be good for medium and long range footsies too. I'll try to pick her up this weekend.
So did the Switch get the Season 1 characters for free afterall?
@Rika_Yoshitake Nah, no free season 1 pass. But, Switch did get the price drop to $50US. And the digital deluxe with season 1 DLC included is currently $60 (standard new game pricing), which is what I bought. Though, I have a feeling the Season Pass giveaway timing was more critical when the game came out on other systems last year, just to get the early adoption rate up and get the name back out there, especially before EVO. It would've been nice to get, though. For what it's worth, Japan didn't get any free season pass at all on any system.
Brilliant game!
