Luigi's Mansion 3 was well-received by fans and critics alike when it was released in October, so how is it doing on the sales front? In the UK, Luigi's third outing is performing quite impressively at the moment in the local game charts, even though it wasn't able to claim the top spot when it was first released. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the Switch game's sales are up by 49% week-on-week, and it's jumped from seventh to fifth place.
This reportedly makes it more "popular" in the UK than certain other Nintendo releases this year. While it's unable to match the sales of Pokémon Sword and Shield, it has managed to outsell New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, which was made available at the start of this year, Super Mario Maker 2, and the more recently released remake, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.
As you might recall, Link's Awakening when it arrived in Europe was the fastest-selling Switch game of 2019, shifting more than 430,000 units across this region. In saying this, it didn't take long before Sword and Shield arrived and was recorded as the second-biggest Pokémon game launch in the UK ever and the biggest system exclusive of 2019.
This follows on from the news we heard in November about Luigi's Mansion 3 becoming the best-selling entry in the series in the United States, outperforming the original Luigi's Mansion game. Over in Japan, Luigi's spooky outing sold 150,000 copies in its opening week, but only placed second on the charts.
Keep an eye out for the full rundown of the UK charts later today.

Ok...
And finally after 7 years... FIRST! What do I get?
@Spideron People complaining that you post a comment like that..Forget those crybabies your first...You Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Spideron
You get what that woman is receiving in your avatar
Well it did release in a less busy part of the year on the Nintendo front and nothing big has come out for Switch since Pokemon Sword/Shield. Plenty of the other games had lots of other Switch games to compete with.
Good. This game deserves it. A lot of effort was put into it, unlike some other first party games.
I finally played the multiplayer tonight when I got together with friends for our Christmas Dinner. It’s so much fun! I didn’t think I’d enjoy the scream park as much as I did.
Bought it day 1 but it's still sitting in my backlog with at least a dozen other games...
Self control, what's that?
Them Brits like to tidy up, what can you do?
And then there’s me, who doesn’t own either of them despite meaning to. At least FE3H has finally clicked and I’m loving it. No point adding to my massive backlog.
I’ll get it if I get any money for Xmas.
Good to see it outselling the ports.
I'm not surprised. While good, Links Awakenings gameplay was never great.
@Spideron welcome to the First club...people not agreeing to your achievement are people who never had a life changing First comment in their life.
Good! It deserves to, it’s an amazing game!
@Grumblevolcano
Yes the Christmas period is notorious for there not being much competition where Luigi's Mansion is currently sitting 5th in the UK chart...
At it's current trajectory, Luigi's Mansion 3 should reach 5-6 million copies sold-in by the end of the year.
By comparison, Luigi's Mansion 2 has sold 6.2 million copies lifetime.
Fantastic game. Loved every minute.
Wrapped my sons up last night! Very excited for him.
we all knew Pokemon was going to sell big numbers so that is not surprising to anyone, Luigi's Mansion 3 however nobody knew how well this game was going to do and is doing I feel LM3 is exceeding expectations remaining in the top 10 Charts in multiple countries almost 2 months later not being a well know Nintendo IP
@SquareOneMJ
Hopefully you left a hole for them to breathe through
@DinnerAndWine 👌👌😂
@DinnerAndWine just to clarify, I wrapped my son’s copy of Luigi’s Mansion 3 up last night, NOT my son 😂
I passed on Link's Awakening having beaten GB title half a dozen times already. LM3 is a delight.
@SBandy The more games released for a system in a short timeframe, the more competition there is between those games for sales. June-September 2019 was complete chaos for Switch meanwhile not much has happened from October onwards so the October and November Switch games get more attention.
@Grumblevolcano
That is a gross over simplification and missing the point.
Luigi's Mansion 3 is selling more because more people want it, end of.

@Shambo Im just the best and always have been
so happy to see that Luigi Mansion 3 is a critic, public and sales sucess, this game is amazing and deserve all the sales and praise is getting, i gonna get this amazing game for my Switch in birthday in april.
This game is always on the top 5 across the world and number 1 in some countries. I think this could reach 5.5 million sold by december 31 2019.
Well deserved too. It’s a cracking game and indeed, the third superb game out of 3 in the series.
Particularly impressive as it was released at such a busy time, following on from a packed September and just before Pokemon. We’ll have to start regarding it an A Tier Series soon.
A well-deserved hit for Next Level. Would love to see them return to the Punch-Out series some day, the Wii entry is seriously underrated
why is this a surprise?
Good to hear. But I hope they won't milk it. Let us wait a few years before making Mansion 4. That way I am sure it might be just as great, maybe even better.
