The demos of upcoming Switch games just keep coming this week. Following from Resident Evil and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, Sega has now made one available for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
The catch is you'll need to have access to a Japanese eShop account to download it. The demo allows you to try out the 110m Hurdles, Badminton, Karate, Surfing, Archery and you'll also get access to the Long Jump and 10m Platform in the Tokyo 1964 events. Adding to this is English-language support and local multiplayer.
Mario and Sonic's next outing arrives early next month. You can find out more about the game by taking a look at the Nintendo Life guide – featuring everything confirmed (so far) for the game.
Have you downloaded this demo yet? What do you think? Comment below.

Hopefully the developers didn't choose quantity over quality on this game. A lot of other sports collection games seem to include a bunch of shallow games that are only fun for a while.
Nice! Was literally just looking at this one today thinking it would be a fun one to play with my kids. Seeing as I already have a Japanese account, this is golden.

@ReWane A friend has a review copy and is really enjoying it so far, both the 3D and 2D. This looks to easily be the best one yet.
@mgnoodle It's actually really really really amazing. My friend has a review copy and we thanked the Lord Jesus for the chance to play it last night.
@mgnoodle That's the spirit.
Is this demo not coming to other regions? I am really interested in this game. Missed out on the one on Wii U because I heard they weren't very creative with it and it quickly got old, but I've recently been thinking of a party game I can get to play with my girlfriend (who is not really into games) and my friends when they come over. I've been considering getting Mario Party but comments about the boards being really short and very few and lack of decent online play coupled with the $60 price on the eshop makes me think I might regret it if I go ahead and buy it. Speaking of Party games, anyone got recommendations?
I've just set up a Japanese account so I can try this out but now my news feed is filled with Japanese news - anyone got any ideas of how to disable this?!
I've tried the game a bit - visually it looks great. I need to try it multiplayer to really see what it is like I think as playing some of the events single player were a bit dull to be honest. I'm hoping in multiplayer that is where it will come alive. It is no Wii Sports Resort though
@Alztru Try light fingers!
@DockEllisD I thought that might be the case - thank you though!
I am really on the fence about this one. Is it easy to set up a Japanese account?
@BarefootBowser I hope in the 9 months they release a free DLC with volleyball / BMX which were in RIO and then add in Basketball/Baseball/golf.
I do wish they would have made football 11 on 11 like 2020 Tokyo and then made Soccer dream event like RIO 4 on 4.
@xpownz Thanks. I've just checked it out on YouTube and it looks nice. Is it fun though? I do not normally care too much for these types of games (not even Mario Party) but it's nice to have something to play that's fun and will cause a few laughs when other people are around - especially those that don't usually play much games
@Alztru the demo is fun. Obviously these types of games are better with more players. But the events are fun. I enjoy this over Mario party. Especially with button controls.
@Alztru it's a more 'boardy' board game than mario party, less minigames, more dice roll, card effects, movement strategy, but it is fun, and it is actually amazing to drinking game this little gem!
The Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is brought to you by aperture science innovators.
I looked up the game engine for this and 2020 Tokyo games. Both made by Sega. And both using the hedgehog 2 engine. Rio used hedgehog 1 engine. But Sega 2020 Olympics has more events. Tennis, Bmx, volleyball, baseball, basketball. Am I really going to buy both games or is it that Mario vs sonic might add events later?
