Yet another Pokémon has joined the Build-A-Bear ranks, and this time it's the turn of Pikachu's adorable little baby and feisty Smash Bros. terror, Pichu.
You can go ahead and pick up a Pichu of your own from the Build-A-Bear store as we speak (UK / US). To get Pichu and its full set of accessories, you'll need to hand over £47 / $61, or you can pick up just the plush on its own for £21.50 / $29. Adorably, the product page notes that due to Pichu’s extra-large ears, the plush cannot fit inside standard-sized Cub Condo packaging.
Here's what else it says:
Welcome Pichu to the Build-A-Bear family! With its happy smile, extra-large ears and embroidered pink cheeks, this Pichu plush makes a small but powerful addition to any Pokémon Trainer's lineup. It's shocking how cute this Electric-type Pokémon looks in its online exclusive bundle which includes a Blue Cape, Repeat Ball Hoodie, 6-in-1 Pichu sound chip and Build-A-Bear Workshop Exclusive Pikachu Pokémon TCG Card!
Price includes:
- Pichu
- Blue Pichu Cape
- Repeat Ball Hoodie
- 6-in-1 Pichu Sound
- Build-A-Bear Workshop Exclusive Pikachu Pokémon TCG Card
Of course, Pichu isn't the only Pokémon available in Build-A-Bear form. There's Psyduck and Snubbull, Piplup, Vulpix, Meowth and more.
Are you getting one? Can you resist the cuteness? Tell us below.

Damn he's cute. as usual with this range there is no need for the accessories though. I bought my wife the Jigglypuff one and that went down a treat, even if I did feel a bit of a wally making the thing by myself whilst the helpful staff member reeled off the well practised kid friendly shtick (she made me kiss the heart - I'm 34!).
Yeah no thanks.
@Ooccoo_Jr : I went there to grab a couple of Hello Kitties, a Jigglypuff, Snubble, and Psyduck for my sister a few months ago, and I felt ridiculous with the store attendant asking me to make a wish and insisting on placing one of those little novelty hearts in the doll every time (not that the heart will ever be visible, short of performing surgical mutilation on the doll after the fact).
For crying out loud, I'm a grown man. I'm not there for the "experience", I just want to get the stinkin' dolls whilst walking out of there with my dignity intact. Bah.
While the accessories are mostly superfluous, the Hello Kitty dolls looked naked without them, so I opted to buy a sequined dress for one and a shirt for another (the t-shirt was decently priced, but the dress cost more than the doll itself!).
None of the accessories were available for the Pokémon in Australia, which is a pity as the costumes are quite nice, and I would have considered grabbing some. I have heard the voices on the US site and they are absolutely horrible. I would have been able to pull off far better Psyduck and Snubbull voices (keeping true to how they sounded in the first season/movie). If I could perform the voices in private as opposed to making a fool of myself in public, then I would have considered buying a custom voice accessory.
@Silly_G One accessory that is not unnecessary is the Jigglypuff voice. Definitely needed to have that included so that now he can perform his signature song. What really creeped me out though was the option to add in a 'beating' heart. I would have found that absolutely terrifying as a kid!
@Ooccoo_Jr : Same here. Plus, my sister has a few disabilities, so I strongly doubted that she would have noticed (or cared) for the sensation. I don't know what the Jigglypuff voice box sounded like (not that it was available anyway) but the Snubbull and Psyduck voices were bloody awful, and for someone who isn't very good at impersonations, I would have done a much better job.
File under OMG!
I'm quite sure I saw it on the Johannesburg store last week.
We ended up buying the Eevee one as we could grab it's pajama as well.
But I think that not being compatible with other accessories kind of detracts from the experience with those "bears" based on popular IP's. I mean, the Eevee pajama is ultra cute, but I'd really really like to have a batman Eevee!
Welp, got mine bought. Pichu's always been my favorite Pokemon!
I already have the eevee plush so definitely will buy!
