After another busy week, this time full of Nintendo financial news and that Persona 5S reveal for Switch, it's finally time to wind down with a game or two. Team Nintendo Life has gathered to discuss our gaming plans once again, and we've love for you to get in on the action in the comments and poll below. Enjoy!

Each night this week, I've been rummaging around my office, attic, and anywhere I can think of to gather every single video game I own. Annoyingly, I sold quite a few in my youth (darn you, younger Ryan) but I still have most of my Nintendo games and I've been cataloguing everything in hopes of keeping on top of a physical collection.
As tedious as this sounds, it's been an utter delight stumbling across games I'd forgotten about. From the excellent Pokémon Trading Card Game on Game Boy Color, to the probably not-so-excellent Bunnyz on DS (don't ask), it's been making me want to spend some time booting up some golden oldies for the sake of nostalgia. If I get any time to do just that this weekend, I might have to go with Banjo-Kazooie - I haven't played this for well over 15 years and I think it's time to give it a revisit.

My friends - it is with a happy heart that I say I will finally be delighting in a full replay of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in cardboard Virtual Reality. Had a little taste last night before bedtime (nothing like waiting til the last minute to release that update), and I’m already hooked. I’ll also be visiting my little brother at uni, so I have a feeling I’ll get a chance to take down some college kids in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Lastly, I’ll be continuing my adventures in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (officially very glad I finally picked up this title), and My Time at Portia (but for the love of the Church of Light, please fix those lag times...).

This weekend I'll be spending even more time with Mortal Kombat 11 as I attempt to reclaim my once proud prowess with Sub-Zero. Alongside punching people until their heads come off, I'll be taking Beyond Enemy Lines: Covert Operations for a spin to see if an indie developer can make a sandbox FPS really work on Switch. The things I do without COD...

Ah, the weekend. All being well, I’d love to dive into the first course of Overcooked 2's DLC. Despite losing enthusiasm for some of the later challenges in the main game, I’ve got such residual affection for it that I immediately bought the season pass without a second thought.
On the subject of co-op, I noticed a new icon for Death Squared on my Switch menu indicating an update has dropped, so that could also be on the menu. We’ve also been having fun with blasting fruit at hippos in Kablasta's hippodrome (ha!) for Labo VR, but if my significant other is indisposed for any reason, I may squeeze in a level-or-two of Wolfenstein II, too. Too many ‘toos’?
Have a good one!

My condition of physical cartridge addiction once again came back to haunt my weekend. There will be no Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen or Mortal Kombat 11 for me because neither game currently exists at European retailers. However, the weekend was saved by a timely arrival of a parcel from the Far East; added to my humble Japanese import collection are Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy!, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster and Blade Arcus Rebellion from Shining. New spirits arriving in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also ensure that I will once again be hustling at the Spirit Board.
My game of the week is rather special since I had the pleasure of accompanying this one since its early access days on Steam. Loren Lemcke’s Super Blood Hockey is not only the single current gen hockey game on the Switch, but it's also one of the best games representing the sport ever made. And I’ve been around for all of them. Drop the puck!

Smash spirit board, Minecraft, BOXBOY and NSMBUD for me this weekend!
Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko's Hysteric Birthday Bash on PC and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin on my 3DS.
I'll be trying out Zelda and Mario in VR and probably continuing to plug away at Cuphead. Nearly finished the 2nd world. I haven't found it as hard as I'd feared. A lot of the bosses so far seem to be about learning patterns. It reminds me of Super Punch Out! in that way. And it's all so gorgeous to look at! Might download Box Boy...
I’m getting closer to the end of Etrian Odyssey Nexus. Fantastic game.
I’ve got too many games I’ve bought recently I need to start. Fire Emblem Fates was going to be next.
But after getting into SRPGs and then Atlus games over the last few months, I’ve never tried in my 37 years on this earth a classic RPG.
Chrono Trigger (DS) has just arrived in the post, so I might start on that before FEF.
Smash Bros Ultimate - what has the sticker board done to me?
Animal Crossing - Gamecube version
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp - back to my Camp.
Shin Megami Tensei III - hopefully this weekend, i've been busy with other games
Persona 3 Portable - likely.
Harvey Birdman - it's time to finish this game off. not that very long though sadly.
Tomodachi Life - haven't play in awhile, might go back to it and buy clothes and hats.
The Promised Neverland - not really a game, i'll be watching the dub again this weekend on toonami.
Pikmin.
BOTW VR
Kirby star alies
I'm going to be exploring the Minecraft updates. Not seen any villages yet. Smash Bros and maybe I get that hockey game (if my right joycon doesn't go to drift hell). I was looking forward to Beyond Enemy Lines, but the footage on Youtube has caused me to remove it from Favourites.
I'm coloring my Pokemon fanart right now.
😅
Pretty busy this weekend, so i decide to play :
1. Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD remastered (Switch)
Finally, the Switch version is already be mine forever after i sold the PS4 version last Sunday. 🤓
For FF X, I have encountered the Sending souls event by Yuna.
For FF X-2, I have obtained White Mage dresssphere and still leveling up those three gals.
2. Dance Dance Revolution 3rd Mix (PS1)
Keep playing a lot of songs until unlocking some hidden songs.
Will be playing Stardew valley(just recently purchased) expanding my farm and exploring this vast game. A strange game that’s so addictive😝😂
Ryan wins this week with Banjo 👍
Finally finished Hollow Knight (44hours, 99 %) so think I'll have a break from Metroidvanias for a bit and start the DLC for BOTW and maybe Into the Breach.
Starlink just clicked for me, so I’ll be tootling around Atlas for sure. Boxboy + Boxgirl will brighten the place as well, I suspect. And perhaps I’ll hone my reflexes with some OlliOlli. Happy weekend all!
Planning to start aiding a certain rebuilding campaign in Xenoblade, grind a few more spirits out of SMBU (already got the what, four new ones that were added this event?), build/sell/make/hunt/chat some more stuff in Nelke, drop by stuff like DotB/Warframe/GoW (heh, what an abbreviation to have on the Switch) as usual... possibly a couple challenges in Mudrunner and a couple skeletons in Dark Souls (before I routinely get killed, and "couple" may be more precise here than in other cases).
I'm not sure whether to start Syberia (I still have an ongoing P&C even on Switch itself, namely Goetia, and the looming nigh-20 Gb of FFXII and Saints Row 3 that may well force me to shelf Goetia as well), but I did try the recently bought bundle and I can't help being impressed by the extra details and voiced dialogues - my first experience of the game was on DS, after all. It piqued my interest even then, but I bailed out after learning that lack of voices (not quite a deal breaker by itself) was but one of the many abridgements made to the port. You know graphics and resolutions aren't my game to hunt (pun semi-intended), but when an interactive story reportedly loses a bunch of interactive elements, and apparent lore sources (like brochures and newspapers) at that... it's harder to turn a blind eye on. I'm really glad the whole trilogy is available on Switch now.
A bit unexpectedly, I've also found myself revisiting Fire Emblem Warriors yesterday, and I may advance several missions forward (counting replays - despite what I said earlier, this is one of the rare games where I do try to cover all the difficulties because it naturally covers a dose of grinding and looting as well) while I'm at it. Sakura is still best warrior so far (a meek gentle cleric girl in cutscenes and a rough equivalent of ten Clint Burtons in battles), but others are no slouches either. Well, maybe except Robin who spent four minutes on a single enemy mage unit without even getting in trouble himself... might be time to cash some levels into him.
Wish I was checking out BoTW in VR but instead I'll be settling for Smash until I get to see Avengers Endgame
Currently planning to play Shining Resonance Refrain, to progress further in it, and may do some casual fights in either SNK Heroines or Sonic Battle.
I am going to take a break from Isaac (880 hours), and treated myself to Diabo III. Will miss out on the online elements as my Switch doesn't support my wi-fi, but am hoping to have fun with it just the same. Have a great weekend, all! 😆
I'll be playing Ace Attorney because I'm a sucker for this series.
I’ve bought a ton of games lately but had hardly any time to get stuck in due to working insane hours.
Won’t play much this weekend but I go on holiday on Monday.
Can’t decide whether to take my 2DS and play super Metroid or my Switch to play Katana Zero and Hellblade
Tetris 99, MK8 Deluxe and Wolfenstein 2 for myself. My son will be playing Smash Bros. Ultimate, it arrived yesterday and he played it all evening with his legs kicking like mad and the biggest smile on his face. Every now and again he looked at me and said ‘I love you Dad’ ❤️☺️🥰 Have a good one all
Smash Brothers Ultimate and some Starlink for me. Looking forward to the update for Starlink next week. I also want to start Kid Icarus Uprising if possible......
Austin: if you liked BOTW you will love XC2. XC2 has huge and beautiful lands, strong narrative, but isn't like BOTW or MGSV in that you tackle thinga in your own unique way. There is some freedom, but they're different types of games.
I'll be playing battlefield 1 this weekend.
Almost at the end of SteamWorld Quest I think. Might start up either Moero Chronicle Hyper or Panty Party when I'm done.
Box Boy Box Girl! I also picked up Gilgamech, but I am going to force myself to finish one ongoing game before I play that: Yoshi, Horizon Chase Turbo, Golf Peaks.
Oh Backlog!
Super Blood Hockey!
Starlink to prepare for the Crimson Moon update and DLC.
SEGA AGES Virtua Racing. I'm so glad there's analog steering! Seeing videos online and all their twitchy steering started to make me think that it wasn't in there.
@Ralizah how is Advance Wars: Days Of Ruin? I’d not got around to it but just now picked it up very cheap
Paladins most likely, Mario Tennis demo possibly, and who knows maybe something else.
Dragon Quest Builders. It's so much fun!
Trying to complete Far Cry New Dawn and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood on Switch. Max is a great underrated game with some good puzzles using the magic pen powers.
Have finally finished Bowsers Inside Story so think I'll go with some Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, might try the battle mode at last if I don't get carried away with racing.
Smash and randomized pokemon crystal
I'll be playing the postgame levels in the brilliant Yoshies Crafted World and trying to 100 per cent each level.
On the Ps4 I have finished and platinumed Assassins Creed Origins but still not bored of the game so will be digging into the Hidden Ones dlc.Plus I may do some more of Far Cry New Dawn or continue my long adventure in Final Fantasy XII
My Time at Portia, I love the game but the menu lag is frustrating as anything.
Also RPG Maker on 3DS. I’ve decided to propose to my partner by means of a short, 1hr or so RPG.
@Anti-Matter Just a matter of interest, you say you sold the PS4 version so did you already play and complete it on the other console and already restarting it on the Switch?or did you not actually start it on the Ps4? And how do you like X-2? Unlike a lot of people I absolutely adored that game.
This week I will be mostly playing
Smash Board
Yoshi’s Crafted World
A little bit of Brain Training: Arts
Super Mario Bros DX
Breath of the Wild Korok hunting
Just picked up 13 games for the Saturn so top of my list tonight will be Radiant Silvergun, Panzer Dragoon Saga and Bastogun.
Oh and finally started Fallout 3- about 8 hours in and loving it.
@SterlingEyes take both.
@Wazeddie22
Oh, i didn't even finished my PS4 version of FF X/X-2 HD remastered.
I just played them until several minutes then i abandoned for several months.
Now, i will truly play FF X/X-2 HD remastered on Nintendo Switch until both of them finished. 🤓
I prefer FF X-2 than FF X due to :
1. Hilarious ridiculous storyline. So cliche, so absurd hilarious but entertaining for me at some point. Just imagine the story of former Summoner suddenly change her carrer into "Lara Croft" style Sphere hunter and J-Pop singer.
2. Better musics on Battle & certain places. The BGM on Bevelle Underground, Dark Aeon battles, Via Infinito were perfect Scary music on Final Fantasy.
3. No Blitzball
4. ATB system instead of Turn based.
5. Girlie vibes from the game.
So, yeah, SEGA AGES Virtua Racing! It's been a while, but still got it! Grand Prix mode is the 20 Lap version where there may be a legit pit strategy. I'm not sure how these folks in the top spots did it, did they not pit? (I won't check their replays just yet)
It will be pretty much FF X/X-2.
I am very close to the end of X (final battle or the last prior to) and hopefully can beat today. Then let's see all the talk about 2...
@SterlingEyes Hellblade is a fantastic game, but visuals are seriously downgraded in handheld, and I feel you’d do the game, and the team that ported it, a disservice by not experiencing it docked. My two cents 👍
@Grumblevolcano Finally getting into this game myself. Before I was just enjoying exploration and combat in short play sessions without pursuing the main storyline. I feel I could have used a more linear format up front, with the system slowly opening, maybe a whole planet of missions you have to complete before you get to explore, rather than those poorly written cut scenes. Glad I’m finally enjoying it though - especially the Star Fox content.
Xenoblade chronicles 2 Torna. And cuphead mostly. I am playing little bits of Celeste still and Nes online games. As for xc2 torna , I'm not enjoying all that much as its not a game I would normally play. It feels like a lot of little busy work quests going on but I'm going to give the game my time and try to finish to see if I my opinion changes. I'm about 6 hours in thus far.
I bit the bullet and bought My Time At Portia. After the initial loading screen, I can put up with the slight menu lag and choppiness. Its a relaxing game so far.
i voted for the FFX/X-2 Remaster but i'm playing the PS4 version
on my WiiU (in Wii mode) i'm playing FFIV(aka FFII)
on my 3DS i'm playing Pokemon Omega Ruby
i sadly don't have a Switch yet
and on my XB1, nothing because the damn things wi-fi adapter died on me AGAIN and now i can't play bugger all because it's not set as my "home console" (my home console is in the living room AND before anyone says anything i can't use that one either because it's disc drive is broken and besides it's mainly used by the kids for Minecraft and Fortnite and for all of us to watch Netflix, the reason it's set as my home system is so they can use my XBLGold on their accounts)
@Anti-Matter Ah ok,id be well impressed if you want from finishing the game on Ps4 to starting it all over again on the switch!
The more I think about it I probably preferred Final Fantasy X-2 over X too for more or less the same reasons. To have a main cast of great female characters was so unexpected but perfect and having a silly and lighthearted story was so different to the usual serious storylines.
I have a few partial games to wrap up, including Mother 3 and FFVII. I’m not typically an RPG guy, so I’m moderately proud of myself for nearly finishing these.
@nofriendo good point. I’ve only played it docked so far (prob only 30 mins in).
Most of my gaming time is handheld so I’ll need to dedicate some time to it if I’m ever going to finish
Splatoon 2 and Smash Stage builder
I’ve now finished both FFXII and RDR2 so now I have no idea what to do with myself! Might play some Ass Creed Origins on PS4 and try getting a bit further in Hollow Knight. Plus, I have TWEWY left to finish too. It’s annoying because I love TWEWY and the Switch version has superior music and art but those controls are absolutely terrible. The DS version wins.
@JoeDiddley It's great. It's missing the war room, unfortunately, but has one of the longest and most challenging campaigns in the series. It's also much more balanced than previous entries (especially Dual Strike), and so forces the player to devise good strategies to get the best scores in missions rather than relying on the crutch of overbearing CO powers (they're still around, but, again, much more balanced). The game is incredibly dark at times for an AW title, with a plot that prominently features mass killings, pandemics, political corruption, and characters grappling with personal loss, so keep that in mind. Thankfully, the core crew of protagonists are decent people with strong moral backbones who didn't entirely lose their sense of humor, so the darkness never gets too overbearing.
Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology. 3ds
And what an exciting day ! Going to pick up a new Switch ( sent mine with my daughter to college in the fall) been without too long
For that it will either be a second run through Xenoblade 2 , or trying out DQ builders or Dragons Dogma for the first time . Can’t decide
Finished FF7 today. Will play a bit of 9 and X and then see which one I fancy going through next.
@Glitchling78 wow let us know how that goes!
Avengers: Endgame
Probably Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Capcom Beat em Up Bundle if I have time.
I think Im I’m getting close to finishing Yoshi. I’m in the scary world now before the last gem- those clowns!!! 😬 Is there more after that? If not I’m not upset since I’ve gotten over 30 hours into Yoshi thus far getting all the flowers up to this point. After Yoshi I’ll be starting Iconoclasts. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Just finished zelda 2, continiue with luigis mansion 1. and zelda oracel of ages
Labo VR and honestly more CupHead. Also getting back into DeadCells. If I am playing a AAA title, will probably be finishing the DLC for SPIDER-MAN on PS4. Otherwise, pretty much wondering why I can't play ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3, RIGHT NOW!?!?!?!?
@Ralizah fantastic thanks, I’m really looking forward to it when I get to it. Probably not straight away, but it was a bargain.
The aesthetic change did put me off getting it a little until now, but great to hear the gameplay is strong, as that’s the main thing.
Why is Skyrim on there that is a huge game 200hrs into probably 200 more to go
Hitman GO: Definitive Edition (Vita) - Really enjoying this so far!
Zombies!!! (Windows Store) - Meh...
Bubble Guriko (Windows Phone) - Still great for time wasting.
Playing Final Fantasy 10 HD and Tetris 99 on Switch. Played a couple hours of the Star Wars Empire at War, Thrawn's Revenge an excellent mod that is truly the sequel we never got, and a bit of Hearthstone on PC, but I've been on a bit of a losing streak there...
It's not only the weekend for me, but the start of a nice long vacation. Got a week to myself to relax and do things at home (gonna be doing some spring cleaning) and then gotta get to the airport in Nagoya to pick up my American friend and we're gonna spend two weeks running around Japan partying! Gonna be bringing the Switch with me, so we can play on the train rides and stuff.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Almost conquered Vah Ruta!
Steamworld Quest. Really enjoying it so far. The combat makes it for sure. I'll probably play some Cuphead, too. I'm almost to the third island there.
I will probably be dividing my time between the Labo vehicle kit, Darksiders Warmastered Edition, and Lego Villains
More Bravely Second: End Layer this weekend; I'm hoping to tackle the final boss after I wrap the available side quests up. If not this weekend, then during the week at some point.
I'm still pushing platformers on the SNES Classic. My primary games on it right now are Super Mario World, Contra III: The Alien Wars, and Donkey Kong Country.
I've been giving my Wii U a well-deserved break lately, but SteamWorld Collection arrived in the mail the other day. I might break that out too.
Have a fun, safe, and blessed weekend folks!
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, MegaMan Network Transmission, and Pokémon Go most likely.
@Knighty_IX Well, the trial maps are sort of the "war room" of this game. They're also more fun than war room maps tended to be in previous games, and there are a ton of them.
And yeah, about halfway through the game, I happened to discover the optional dialogues. I'm debating going back and reading them for the missions I skipped them on (which is most of them).
I'll be playing
Super Smash Bros Ultimate ( Man, this game is fantastic )
Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse ( Caved in )
and the usual FM 2019 Touch ( Rediscovered a tactic that works )
Hope everyone have an awesome weekend.
I was hoping to play Dragon's Dogma but no local retailers got it. I ordered it from Amazon today so should have it next week.
@JoeDiddley I played 10 missions or so into it at launch (in 2008, I believe), and then dropped it for some reason. Well, recently, I was having AW urges, and figured I'd rather replay and finish this than buy Wargroove.
The aesthetic change IS a tad jarring at first, but it's still one of the best entries in the series. The post-apocalyptic thing is a little more stale these days than it was when the game first released, but it doesn't really hurt the experience. The people in this game feel much more like actual characters, and while I adore the cute irreverence of past titles, it's also nice to get an actual narrative in one of these games.
My current goal is to S-rank all of the missions in this game (26 or so main story missions, and 30+ trial maps).
I don't have much time to play much this weekend because I'm working 10 hour days today and tomorrow but on the little time I am getting I am trying to make some progress in Octopath Traveler. This game is really, really good. I'm surprised by how much I like it because the combat that I saw in trailers and stuff never really interested me, but it's one of my favorite aspects of this game.
Blossom tales , ac unity on pc cos it was free. It’s the first ac game I’ve enjoyed playing I’d previously played ac1 and black flag and didn’t really enjoy them to much. But because I’m liking unity I’ve bought origins on pc in a sale and pre ordered ac3 for switch
Box Boy, Smash, and Portia for me.
finished the story mode on MK 11 for switch, so I will be playing more towers. I will play also more smash, and try that mars level on playgrounds 2.
I beat World of Light in Smash Ultimate.
I'll work on filling out the challenge board a bit and then it's all multiplayer from then on out.
Smash and FFVII. Looooots of FFVII.
Nearly at the end of Pikmin 2. I did enjoy it even though there were some frustrating moments, but I still think the original is far superior. Next up, replaying Shenmue 2 in anticipation of the release of part 3!
Cancelled my Days Gone pre-order after all the reviews (ill get it on sale later)
Maybe Assassin Creed Odyssey and go back to Flipping Death on Switch.
I should be able to get a start on BoxBoy + BoxGirl and also get a bit better at Mortal Kombat 11.
Katana zero on switch, cuphead on switch. And lastly mlb 19 the show on ps4
Did a little Monster Hunter World (PS4) festival, then started on Dragon’s Dogma (Switch), and of course gave all the VR updates on Zelda and Mario a go. I need time to get familiar with the VR Garage. Finished a huge album cover and now I work all weekend. I’ve been very busy.
I've been enjoying the heck out of Rayman Legends. I picked it up last week when it was on sale. Despite having purchased it on Wii U and Vita, I find it never gets old. It really is a fantastic platformer.
Played through like 7 hours of SteamWorld Quest. Probably finish the story tonight--it's a fantastic game, I'm kinda sad how short I&F games are, I'd love a massive JRPG with this setting and cast and mechanics.
Finished Moonlighter last night - 25 cracking hours. Been playing a lot of TwinBee on the Konami Arcade collection today, as well as Cuphead, though I have absolutely nothing to show for my efforts! Went back to a couple of problem levels on Baba is You too, and got them both first time. Amazing what some time away can do.
More Final Fantasy XIV and Poochy & Yoshi's Wooly World
I got back into The End is Nigh a couple days ago. I really prefer it over meat boy even though I thought I would hate the lack of wall jumping. I’m finally tired of Tetris 99 so I may see what other free to play games are available. I’ve never tried Fortnite or Warframe.
Why play something? I've been WATCHING something, personally (wink, wink)...
Cuphead and Bastion for me. Just finished Inkwell Isle II so I have Inkwell Isle III and the final world left.
@JoeDiddley I'm sure you're going to love Chrono Trigger. I played it for the first time back in 2017 when my 3ds accidentally got busted up at work. I played it on my DSi and was kicking myself for not having played it sooner. Phenomenal music. Simple and fun atb rpg combat. Likable characters and fantastic pacing.
Probably my 3rd or 4th week hooked on Dark Souls. Started a new class and just got to Anor Londo.
Continuing playing Breath of the Wild and Mario + Rabbits Kingdom Battle. I'm taking it easy with the latter and farming coins to get better weapons for when I proceed to the next world.
@MJInnocent @MattFox Thanks! Yeah it is nerdy but I am nerdy ahah. It’s a while off (saving for a ring) but I’ll probably post it up on the forum once I’ve done it
Working through Yoshi. Very fun game, don’t care that it’s on the easy side. And I really don’t understand why so many reviews said the music was annoying and a letdown. I think it’s just fine and it hasn’t bothered me at all. Don’t know what the big deal is about that.
@Oat thanks. I’m a couple of hours in and really enjoying it so far. I’ll be seeking out the soundtrack too I think
So far it's been Horizon Chase Turbo, a bit of a runaround in Zelda, Mario Tennis Aces Demo and I tried the demo for R-Type. Nice.
With Avengers Endgame, the weekends comic expo and Game of Thrones I had no time to play anything. It was such an epic weekend.
Now that the dust has settled I'll be trying Reign: Game of Thrones though.
