did they mention something about the possible delay for switch?
@JamesJose7 Nope. All the press release states is the game launches beginning on April 23rd which implies not all versions launch that day.
Also there is no pre-order beta for Switch, nor is there a Collectors Edition. Rumours going of no season pass either.
Fatality Lives!
I really, really like Skarlet's new look.
and that moveset. hnng unf 😻
@Knuckles-Fajita yeei o_O
@JamesJose7 The Switch version is currently scheduled to launch in North America on 23rd April. According to retailer listings, the game has been delayed until May in certain other regions (like Europe and Australia).
@CharlieSmile favorite character? It’s been ages since I’ve played MK I know only a few fighters now.
@Knuckles-Fajita not too surprising I guess, maybe if it sells well it’ll change?
So that was Skarlet. I like her original look better tbh.
So Switch is missing out on the collector's edition, beta, and possibly even missing that season pass and getting delayed in certain regions. That really sucks.
I know that Switch is trickier to work with due to less graphical capabilities, expensive cartridges and memory limitations etc., but it can't possibly be that hard to treat it as legitimately as other systems. NetherRealm is only reducing their own profits by neglecting the Switch release so much.
At the very least I hope it runs decently well on Switch, whenever it comes out.
I hope the switch versions turns out well!
sees that there's no way to get the Premium Edition on Switch
So wait...does this mean the Switch will get NONE OF THE DLC????
@JR150
Not necessarily. Switch could still get the premium version, if not, then DLC could still be distributed normally.
No word on when is going to release in Japan either. Definitely not in April. I expect, at the very least, a 6 month delay for the Japanese version.
I have actually never played MK. But I might invest in this when it's released!
@KryptoniteKrunch Yeah hopefully it gets put on the eShop. If my man Stryker or Erron Black turn out to be DLC I must have.
White this has never been my kind of game, I am pleased to hear it is launching on the Switch as well as other platforms. Pleased to hear this fairly mainstream, presumably M rated game will be on the Switch. It, alongside Doom and Wolfenstein will go a long way to countering that criticism that Nintendo only caters to younger players.
Will they add any of the MK fighters to Smash as DLC? It's time to get a little heart-ripping action into Smash. I can't wait to rip Mario's head off.
Like I'd ever put playtime on this game when I can play Smash instead.
@Orin41
Yeah, the over the top gore is pretty much the only reason it ever became popular. I went back to the SNES games recently to try them out and movement is so sluggish and all of the characters punch and kick the same. Street Fighter was and still is the better competitive fighting game franchise.
Honestly I'm much more excited for the New Power Rangers game that was announced, but glad to see this is getting a switch as well. Some fun fighting games coming to switch this year!
Not a game for me, but cool that it's coming to the Switch as well. Hopefully it performs good despite the technical limitations.
@Frenean For some people might be just the gore, for others is that MK has the best (by a thousand miles) story mode of any fighting game ever and because, gameplay wise, is one of the best fighting games in the market.
Also comparing the SuperNES MK games with the current ones doesn’t make much sense to be honest...
But, obviously, this is not a game for everyone.
Personally I find it to be better than Smash, but that’s just me.
I mean, at the very least, I can't imagine this game handling online worse than Smash. Lag's not the issue, but everything else is. :/
@maruse
I think the Blazblue games have more interesting stories, but even the best fighting game stories are just okay. I don't find Mortal Kombat games to be that competitive, I've dabbled in 9 and 10. Since I don't really consider Mortal Kombat to be as complex and technical as Street Fighter, I consider it a party fighter like Smash, but one that's too edgy for its own good and not as easy to pick up and play.
@Aslanmagic Skarlet made her first appearance in Mortal Kombat 9.
Queen Sindel is my favorite Mortal Kombat character of all time though.
@Retupmocnin I'd like to see Nintendo characters in Mortal Kombat.
I wanna see Daisy decapitate someone with a golf club, or Wii Fit Trainer rip out someone's spine and beat them with it.
@Frenean I’m very biased when MK is concerned because I’ve been a fan since the SuperNES days. I never cared much for the gore but I’ve always loved its lore and characters.
Fighting games are probably my favorite but I’m very bad at them lol, that’s why I never play online. The Blazblue games are probably more technical but, as I said, I’m not a technical player and I like the story and characters in MK way more.
I’m extremely excited because MK 11 coming to Switch. I just hope the performance is up to par.
Woah watched a bit of the reveal and boy, that is way too much gore for me. I thought it wouldn't bother me, but that was just too much. I played and liked MK2 on the SNES (even though I highly preferred Killer Instinct back then). 16bit gore is easier to handle and there was far less of it.
I've heard MK are great games, but they are not for me. Also how can those fighters keep fighting after those attacks break all their bones etc? ^^ I thought they showed a lot of fatalities in a row and it took me a while to realize that those were only standard attacks. Became clear when I saw a few of the fatalities.
Anyhow, good to have such a big release on the Switch for those who like it.
I wonder if they will record some super silly lines this time around as well. Like the "do you sell ice cream" one.
I was never really into MK, but it's nice to have it in case someone says "Nintendo is for kiddie Mario games only" again.
never been a fan but that looks amazing.
The one thing that puts me off hardcore fighting games is that the combo lists always display the combat actions rather than the button required. Eg K K P P K S rather than A A B B A Y
@Scottwood101 that's actually quite useful because some people like to remap their buttons.
Seems really good!!!!
Generally might pick it up as its usually a deep fighting game
Im looking forward to this as big MK fan dating back to playing 2 in the arcades. No word on switch version at all though (might be buying on other console if they dont explain more)
Woah too much gore for me. I must be getting soft in my old age as my brain can’t allow me to enjoy this savagery. Happy that it’s coming to Switch though.
Don’t know if I care yet.
Though I really enjoyed MK in the arcades and MegaDrive the truth is MK was never my thing. Street Fighter on the other hand...
@beazlen1 same, must be a prude now , but seam very violent, i remember when first mk came out and oldies ( like me now ) where thats too violent and i was like no its cool but that was 16bit graphics or whatever, this is hyper realistic except for the fact that generally people dont get back up after having their brain punched outa their head
This title brings brutality on a whole new level. Was really extreme watching it. Never thought they could top MKX, but that's here and there a little bit to much for me. Maybe if I were 15 again, when MK1 shows up on SNES, it wouldn't bother me, but when you get older you're not the open minded for violence and gore anymore I believe.
I loved MK9 on Vita and MKXL on XBone and will definitely pick this up. That said, I usually wait for a reasonably priced complete edition with fighting games these days.
@Heavyarms55 I agree, and while your statement is true I do want to point out one thing. Most past MK games have been on Nintendo consoles, with the Gamecube version of Deception even having exclusive characters.
So I think it's particularly interesting that most people happen to forget that when they claim Nintendo doesn't cater to mature players.
Hopefully Jade makes a return in MK 11
Saw Baraka, already on board (hell he is the inspiration for this tag so many years ago).
@Retupmocnin Not in a million years. Mortal Kombat should stay away from Smash Bros. It's a game for kids and adults that don't have gory and violent stuff seen in Mortal Kombat. Are you trolling so hard?
I am soo getting this game..I like they way they seem to have switched up the x-ray move to something you can do like a quick move and also the interactive environments ...nice
@Platinumhobo Oh I know many were.
I gave up on MK a long time ago. This just doesn't interest me at all.
I think this will be PS4 for me unless they pull off a panic button style tech miracle.
I'm most definitely getting this on Switch for the portability which will be amazing and it looks just like the right kind of crazy over the top senseless violence and gore that I am craving from a video game at the moment. I'm hoping Kitana, Smoke, Jade and Rain make the cut
