This weekend is all about the Mushroom Kingdom for me. I'll be playing my way through New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. I feel like the 3DS must be in its twilight by now, so I'm betting this is one of the last great first-party games the platform will enjoy. The series holds a special place in my heart and my recent interview with the team has left me wanting to play through it again!

Being a Suda51 fan for decades, one would expect me to write about how much time I will spend this weekend with Travis Strikes Again... but I won’t; buying the game digitally is simply not punk enough so I will wait one more week for the physical retail version. Instead, I will be decimating poor souls in the ongoing ARMS Party Crash Bash bracket with my main man Ninjara, picking up a few more legendary spirits in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and play a few more long sessions of the lovely Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition (I’m about to wrap up Arc I!).
My game of the week goes to Gunman Clive HD Collection. You simply can not argue with that price/contents ratio, even if you have done it all before on Wii U and 3DS.

This weekend's gaming exploits will be, predictably for me, as eclectic as ever. I'll be giving the Lightseekers CCG a go on Nintendo Switch to see if it stacks up on console, and I'll also be jumping in to Legrand Legacy: Tale of the Fatebound to see if this love letter to classic JRPGs is worth reading.
I've been watching a lot of Gotham recently (don't judge me) and it's given me a hankering to replay some of the old Rocksteady Batman games, so expect me and the eldest to give Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition a decent airing on Wii U.

For the first time since it released at the start of December, this weekend I might actually ignore Smash Bros. Ultimate for a while. We've got into a trend in my house of watching the Pokémon anime with dinner, before jumping into some multiplayer gaming on Switch. This week, rather than going on Smash every night, we've actually been really enjoying going back to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Overcooked 2.
We're now actually playing through Overcooked 2's Surf 'N' Turf DLC which is incredibly challenging at times. Hopefully we (by which I mean "I") will have the patience to get to the end.

This weekend, a good friend of about 10+ years is coming to stay - and her requested activity is that I "teach her how to videogame". MWAHA! This, I feel, was a mistake on her part - but it will be exceptionally fun on mine. Pandora’s box has been opened! Some context: this friend is a law student, so her life outside of textbooks has been close to nonexistent the past few years. She has so much catching up to do… and I plan to completely overwhelm her with gaming greatness all in 24 hours.
I think I’ll start her off on some Mario Kart, and then throw her to the wolves with Breath of the Wild. Afterwards, Splatoon 2 to regain her trust. And then I’ll attack her - literally - with Smash Ultimate. Stay tuned for updates on whether or not she dies of exhaustion!

I’ve been waiting for this feature since the clock struck midnight
Fight of Gods and Ridge Racer 7.
I’m gonna spend my Birthday money this weekend, so hopefully I’ll pick up some new games to distract me from my Smash addiction.
PS-Don’t worry Dom, Gotham is cool.
My cold has more or less gone so I'll be getting into Super Mario at last. I'm still trying to get into Super Smash Bros so will probably spend an hour or two playing that. Diablo 3 will get a few hours too.
There has been some new DLC for Train Sim World on PS4 though so that will get quite a few hours today as I have the TV to myself until around 6pm.
I played a bit of Smash earlier. Then a bunch of Tales of Vesperia. Also some Hearthstone too. Probably gonna play more Tales. And maybe some more Civ 6.
Though tomorrow is my Sunday anime marathon. I save all my weekly anime for Sunday, then sit and spend like 4 hours binge watching it. I am particularly fond of "That Time I was reincarnated as a Slime" right now. But there seems to be a lot of good stuff at the moment.
@TheFanatic Happy Birthday! Hope it was a good one!
I'm currently playing Zelda 2. Such an underrated Zelda game.
Played some Pokémon let’s go, I will maybe play some smash/Zelda/Mario odyssey
I will see
I finished Fire Emblem Awakening last night. Fantastic game.
Now I’ve beven bitten by the tactics bug I might start Mario & Rabbids that I picked up in the Christmas eshop sale, or Shining Force on the Sega Mega Drive Collection.
MGS4 and Smash.
World of Warcraft
And, Pokemon Go! tomorrow. Gotta catch a shiny Feebas.
@JoeDiddley
I can’t recommend Final Fantasy Tactics A2 highly enough.
Smash for when I have energy, Shining Resonamce Refrain when I don’t. Maybe some Mario Kart with my partner.
Just finished The Gardens Between: absolutely great puzzle game! I will now continue to grind in Everspace.
Still slowly but surely making my way through Dragon Quest VIII.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate will be the main game along with a few other Switch games. I’m doing a little bit of traveling this weekend so I’ll have the Switch with me.
I’ll be working through New SMB Deluxe no doubt with some Smash on the side.
I bought a Wii U and Xenoblade 1 and X this week so once that all arrives I’ll be set for about six months!
Mario u deluxe, smash and civ 6.
Not sure yet, but I'll be snowed in over here so I'm sure I'll play a variety of stuff. I may cave and get Travis Strikes Again.
Smash and Zelda II. Mmm-mmm.
Playing Fall of Light for the first time right now. Fun game, Dark Souls'y combat with a Diablo camera view.
Only things bothering me is the voice acting (and I have never had a problem with voice acting in any game) and that there are some bugs.
But quite some fun.
Going to play some Dark Souls Remastered and Smash Ultimate later.
Also want to play an rpg, but am not feeling well enough. And don't want my experience be ruined by that.
I have quite a lot of games I'm currently playing. Won't be playing all of them during the weekend but here goes.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country - I haven't played Xenoblade since I finished it a year ago. I decided to finally get the DLC on Thursday and I'm enjoying it. I'm just wondering if Xenoblade 2 always ran as well as Torna does. Maybe Lora just runs faster than Rex? I don't know, it just feels a bit different.
Civilization VI - My 4th game is going to end soon. Playing the earth map with true starting locations. It's a space race between me (Japan) and Australia. Australia started first but we are both currently at the third and final step to victory.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Still haven't beaten World of Light so I might clear some spirit battles here and there.
Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu - Going towards Celadon City. Advancing really slowly since there are so many other games I want to play.
Pokémon Shuffle - Still playing. Probably will just gather some coins from Meowth so I can continue with the UX stages.
This week I will be mostly playing
Kirby Triple Deluxe
Mega Man 4
(and maybe a little bit of Mario & Donkey Kong)
Besides another Smash event and the steady climb up Cole Phelps's career ladder (where even radio seems to be rooting for him when you're driving around in a certain traffic desk case and "Stone Cold Dead in the Market" plays several times), these days have been marked by Skyrim... and my first significant bug there. RIP, Njada, I hardly knew ya. Grumpy or not, a Companion like you deserved a death in battle, not falling prey to the infamous Daedric prince called Glitch Gremlin. And I've spent a few more quests on my toes, but Blood's Honor quest mercifully wrapped up without her presence. Phew? Who knows. While reading on the matter, I've also caught wind that clearing Geirmund's Hall before starting a certain other quest can leave one of the quest items unobtainable (and being generally aware of that, I'm usually careful around named bosses in named dungeons - but the hall saw me on a wild goose chase after misinterpreting some info in a whole different - and ultimately unrelated - quest in the area). So I remain at risk of losing at least one quest - which may be memetic about TES games but is still more annoying when you tried balancing between necessary precautions and discovering most of the game without wikia spoilers. ¯(ツ)/¯
I've also revisited 3DS - particularly resuming Ultimate NES Remix (CGC or no CGC, it would be really cool to see the SNES classics in a sequel on Switch) and Xenoblade Chronicles 3D - y'know, that humble little JRPG where it took me almost 15 hours to get to Tephra Cave for the first time. On top of giving me a lot of not always explainable but welcome FFXIII vibes, this franchise really seems like The Elder Scrolls of JRPG realm in terms of distracting side content. But I dare hope I won't find any Colony 9 citizens just lying dead by their bed for no story or gameplay related reason. 😂
I was gonna play Travis Strikes Again, but it didn't arrive with the mail yesterday. So I'll be playing NSMBUD, ToV and XC2: Torna.
Zelda 2
Slain Back From Hell
Tales of Vesperia
And pushing my Honda CBR1000RR home from the service station because the battery died.
ARMS. Just now getting into it and having a great time.
I'll be making the most of this weekend as I have just had a week off so I doubt I'll get much gaming time from next week..
I have been spending an awful amount of time with Valkyria Chronicles 4 on the Switch and that won't change..an absolute gem of a game!
On the Ps4 it will be Spyro Trilogy and Far Cry 5 and finally I have just dug out the Vita and paid just over a fiver for Trails Of Cold Steel 2 after seeing the announcement for the third game. I'm enjoying it alot but man the Vita is so small and dinky compared to the Switch.
1. ARMS (Switch)
Woo Hoo ! 😀
Party Crash Event again. Last two weeks, i missed it so this week i will play as Ninjara during the Event. 🤓
2. Animal Crossing New Leaf welcome Amiibo (3DS)
Take care my 3rd town, Xepher.
Keep waiting Gracie comes to my town and do her requests in order to upgrade T. I. Y. to T&T Emporium.
Pilotwings Resort. Oh, and maybe Smash.
This weekend I'll play:
Splatoon 2 ( Level 13 and shooting for the stars! )
Civ VI ( This game was made for handheld mode )
Persona 5 ( I'm 70 hours in. I believe the end draws near
New season for Diablo!!!!!
I'll be playing some Splatoon 2 as usual, I'm on my best run of form since I got the game. Splatnet has my last 50 battles at 37 wins and 13 defeats, but I've actually won 33 of my last 39. It's funny as I was on probably my worst run of form before this run started.
I think I'm going to restart Blaster Master Zero. It was one of the first games I bought for Switch and I enjoyed what I played but stopped playing it for some reason and never went back it.
@Matthew010 Glad someone is standing up for this generations best game. Plus Smash is neat too.
Still playing Y's VIII though I think I'm nearing the end of the journey. MK8Deluxe is always in the rotation. Tales of Vesperia is next but I'm not sure if I will start it this weekend or not.
Still working through RDR2.
A wonderful game.
Just finished Wandersong last night, and what a delight that little game was! I teared up a smidgen at the end. Lol
Excited to finally get a chance to dive into Flipping Death tonight, and I hope to get through a good portion of Okami HD later this week before RE2 drops this Friday!
I'm making good progress in Phantasy Star atm and I may have a shot at getting to Gunman Clive HD since we got more snow apparently coming so idk how that's gonna affect my time... x_o
@TheFanatic Happy bday; hope you get enjoyment out of the cash you got for it. ^^
@Prof_Yoshtonics Ys VIII was good stuff! As I put in another post, it got me randomly into the series and I got through Ys I and II Chronicles recently on PSP.
Still playing Ys VIII, but had to put it on hold for a bit to play Onimusha Warlords. Fingers crossed they release the entire saga, it's so good.
Mario Kart 8 on Switch and New Super Mario Bros 2 on 3DS
Was planning on playing tokyo mirage sessions #FE on wiiU and ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 on psvita gamemania forgot to send my order so I’ll be playing bayonetta 1 on wiiU.
This, that and the other, but my main goal is digging into Pokemon LG Eevee. Four badges down and I've got about 90 of the critters.
If I make good progress there I'll get some Civ VI in later.
Stardew Valley has its hooks in me once again...
I got my hands on twilight princess and super Mario galaxy for Wii (Zelda will take most of my time but I never played the Wii version and have to say not happy on the mandatory wiggling...) And tales of Vesperia but I am not enjoying the game so far (the battle gameplay is button masher with the character moving in a line and the enemies in 3d... and I cannot really understand how to use the manual or semi auto for AI (not even going online))
Splatoon 2 Octo expansion
Horizon chase turbo, lumines and a revisit of Mario Odyssey
Finally got Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!
Probably not much between work and a hockey game this weekend. There isn't alot of time to do so. I've been playing alot of resident evil 7 right now, so if I do that will be it.
Mostly XB1 stuff but maybe some NSMBU Deluxe and MK8 Deluxe as well. Still waiting for that important Direct to have a better idea of what the Switch's lineup is like in early 2019.
Binding of Issac as always along with some Cave Blazers. On the Xbox I’ve been into Livelock lately.
@Fake-E-Lee I may have to grab Gunman Clive, been seeing nothing but good about it. Also my tastes seem to line up pretty close to yours.
I’ve been addicted to South Park FBW... can’t get enough and seriously considering getting the DLC- at least the 2 sets with campaigns.
Minesweeper (Windows Phone) - Solid time waster right here.
Angry Birds Seasons (Windows Phone) - Finishing up the non Halloween levels in the game.
The Walking Dead: Michonne (Windows 10 Store) - Starting on Episode 2 soon enough.
@TheFanatic happy birthday, enjoy your new games!
I’ll keep picking away at Mario U again, and since there’s some crazy snow incoming, I may binge on some more Smash and revisit the endless adventure maps in Hyrule Warriors.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for sure and some DOOM, on Switch, on Ultra Violence. Such a quality game. Have a great weekend everyone.
I finally beat World of Light 100% and I started New Game+! It never ends 😂
Other than more Smash, I have no idea what I’m gonna play. Maybe I’ll draw some more comic strips.
Everyone have a God-blessed weekend! Stay safe and have fun! 😃
I'm playing Spyro the Dragon (Reignited Trilogy) on PS4. Just couldn't wait for it to come to Switch (if it ever does) so ended up with a PS4 instead. Really enjoying it.
Mate recommended Vostok. Tried the demo for about 5 minutes bought it. Delightful waste of time. Waiting to be in a better mood to stick Gris on. Had builders in all week and they haven't half pissed me off. Shoot MORE ASTEROIDS!!!!!
Pretty descent week for games... I beat the regular play thru of nsmbu deluxe so I'll dabble with Luigi u. Some more smash as i cant get enough of it. My two heavy hitters this wekeend are wind waker hd and onimusha.
NBA 2K Playgrounds 2! My wife and I are close to that elusive championship!
Gonna try and get as much done in Final Fantasy XIV as I can before my sub runs out on Monday night (on the fence about taking a break, depends on how active my friends will be). Also digging into Secret of Evermore on SNES for my backlog.
Today is Smash day. I might play something else on my Vita as well, though.
I have a fairly busy weekend, but I plan on shoving in more side quest action in Majora's Mask 3D. I just nabbed the Hookshot in my last session and plan to use that to explore more of Great Bay and ferret my way into Ikana Canyon. I'm not putting off doing a certain water temple....Nope....
On the Wii U front, I'm about to start Chapter 5 in Super Paper Mario. I have a couple of minor complaints about the game at this point, but overall I think it's pretty solid.
Have a safe, fun, and blessed weekend!
I’m playing Feudal Alloy.
@Fake-E-Lee dude I thought we talked about this! You were going to lay off multiple purchases for AAA games 😉
If I can get around to it, I plan to play more Tokyo Mirage Sessions. Been playing through the game the past couple of weeks, and working through the story. Love this game so far.
1. Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze. Havent touched this in a while so will go back and try to set some good times. Not playing for a while means that im probably quite rusty but its a fun and nice looking/sounding game and its cool to go back once in a while even if i dont achieve much.
2. Super Smash Bros: Ultimate. Play a bit more with my mains Toon Link and Roy but mostly trying to improve with King K Rool who is a cool character that i suck at.
3. F Zero. The SNES mini is great for allowing me to have a nostalgia fix on a modern tv without having to hook up my ageing SNES. I know virtual console is a thing but nothing beats using that original controller.
4. Hollow Knight. This has been on the back burner for a while now as i bought it just before Christmas and havent really gone back since those initial playthoughs. Find it very relaxing to play until you reach a boss and you spend the next hour screaming in to the abyss.
5. Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Never did 100% finish this so will go back and have some fun and see what i can achieve for a few hours.
Considering playing Pokémon let’s go. Take off the shrink wrap or return?
I'll probably only be playing Smash Online in the downtime I have between excessive exam studying. Anyone else feel the struggle?
Travis Strikes Again and Tales of Vesperia.
Got Tales of Vesperia on Wednesday and haven't been able to put it down - about to wrap up act 1. 13 hours in. Seems about right for a 40hr JRPG.
My first Tales game and enjoying it so far.
@Lalivero @Heavyarms55 @MJInnocent Thanks for all the kind words. I managed to pick up Starlink and some amiibo, which is pretty nice. I also got 1966 Batman on DVD, which while unrelated to video games is still really neat.
Still on Dark Souls (I can't stop replaying this game) The new season of Diablo 3 is starting so I might get on that. Smash is getting old as a go to when other games annoy me. I might replay BOTW again. But over all other games I am playing Travis Strikes Back. The reviewers say that it is repetitive but I find it relaxing. All I have to do is beat up bugs and play minigames. I think that people are missing the point of the game.
I’ve allowed too many games to get in the way of me playing Red Dead 2 like Iconoclasts and Zero Escape ZTD, but with those finished, I’ve been playing Red Dead 2 exclusively. After I finish that, I will get back to Okami on my Switch
I'm playing through some Gunman Clive, baby!
@klingki
I will probably play stardew valley too 😀
@Trikeboy The mechanics are great, but there is too much «walking aimlessly around in the forest to hopefully find what you’re supposed to find» for me to call it great. One of the hardest games I’ve ever finished. Are you using save states?
@JoeDiddley Fire Emblem Awakening is such a fantastic game. One of the best games I’ve played in the last decade.
@TheFanatic I'm hoping your not being sarcastic. Pilotwings Resort really is one of my favourite 3DS games (this is reflected in my Activity Log). I really hope Pilotwings glides onto Switch at some point!
@Matthew010 No sarcasm here, Pilotwings is criminally underrated. Switch release is unlikely, but the SNES game may be coming to Switch soon enough. The fact that it was cut from the SNES Classic is criminal.
Having skipped the New Super Mario Bros. series for a long while, I've been pleasantly surprised with the high quality of the level design in Deluxe, so I'll be playing that.
@TheFanatic Yeah, I'm disappointed it's not on the SNES mini. If it does come to NSO, I might actually consider subscribing!
Starting chapter 2's in Octopath! A little league play in Rocket league to change the pace.
Why can't I bring myself to buy Starlink at Target for $30? Can anyone talk me into it?
@TheFanatic sounds like a good birthday
Smash addict. Will take a break from it with Into the Breach
I’ll probably play WWE 2K19 on PS4 this weekend, with some Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Sid Meier’s Civilization VI on the side.
This is my last weekend before college starts up again, so I'll be trying to make the best of it with what little time I have left. Sigh...
As always, Smash Bros. Ultimate will be the order of the day, as I continue my never-ending quest to get Ike into elite Smash. I might be working on that for some time yet!
I'll keep working through Phantasy Star 4 on the Genesis Classics collection. I'm really loving the game, although I hate that I've hit a random difficulty spike that requires grinding up a few levels. Hopefully I can get that over with and proceed with the story, which really is captivating.
Also started playing River City Ransom on NES Online. I must say, that game is surprisingly fun and charming. I love all the personality and wacky expressions on all the characters.
I finished Pokemon Let's Go earlier in the week and then I started the next game in my backlog: Crash N.Sane Trilogy! Gonna continue that this weekend
Trying to wrap up The Messenger so I can start Tales of Vesperia in earnest.
Planning on stopping by GameStop later today to get a Snes classic for Earthbound, Secret of Mana and FF VI, all of which I've never played. My first console was a Playstation that I bought myself about a week before the PS2 came out which worked out great since I basically had a seemingly unending supply of free games loaned to me by friends. Anyway I don't have any Nintendo nostalgia but I do like me some JRPGs and after learning to appreciate pixel art and the 8/16 bit aesthetic from all the great indie ports on the Switch I'm very much interested in playing the old greats while I wait for FF X and XII to arrive.
I'm still working through World of Light. I think I've spent a whopping 25 hours on it and still have a ton left to do.
I started World of Final Fantasy Maxima recently since all the Final Fantasy announcements recently have got me in a Final Fantasy mood, so I’ll be mostly focusing on that.
I’m playing Starlink. Good game with a very cheap starter pack.
Finished Wolfenstein II on PS4 last night. Looking to get the Switch version eventually. Finally, Was playing some LA Noire on Switch today.
Picked up Minit on sale, gonna give that a go.
Mario u and Tetris like it’s 1989 all over again
@sketchturner doing the same, and loving it! Fantastic single player mode in this Smash
Salt and Sanctuary, Diablo III, and South Park .
I'm going to finally get to play GTA 5 on PS4 this weekend...that is if my son doesn't try and be born this weekend. If he does end up sending my wife into labor them I will probably be playing Breath of the Wild in portable mode at the hospital to pass the time.
Playing ARMS, SSBU, Splatoon 2, The Messenger, Hollow Knight and some XC2. I raised my dev level on a titan this morning and am making my way up the World Tree. Switch really has no shortage of excellent games.
Outurn - Sega Ages, too bad it was not in the list
Tales Of Vesperia and Ittle Dew 2!! 2 great games!!
Children are asleep, wife is out at a party, so thought I would finally pop Starlink in to give it a try, but it's got an hour and a half update so looks like I might not find out tonight after all
Tales of Vesperia - Wonderful RPG with great character presentation and digging the anime style. The game just gives me such a wholesome vibe like Symphonia did. Love it.
Diablo 3 - New start of the season and back to the oh so satisfying loot grind and fast pace combat. Rolling a barbarian this time around.
Shining in the Darkness - Working on a map project for all the dungeons. Never finished the game, so this will be a first once I get to it. The fast forward and rewind function on the Genesis Collection version is a God send.
Monster Boy - Hopeful to spend at least an hour or two with this one. Mixed feelings with this game. I want to love it, but some level designs and controls just make me want to stop playing.
Something else.
The DKC Trilogy and StarFox
Finished Bayonetta 1 this morning.(really love that peach outfit btw). Now ill be playing nsmbud and maybe some smash if my friends finally decide to come.
@derickw69 Congratulations in advance man
@derickw69 wow hope all goes well with your new baby!
System Shock 2
Cycling between Splatoon 2 with my son. New season of Diablo. Xenoblade 2 and Mario Odyssey..... Determined to actually finish games this year. I've started so many and not finished one of them other than BOTW
Octopath Traveler is the main game im playing this weekend along with some Smash Bros Ultimate and Watch_Dogs 2.
Ehm... Xenoblade Chronicles Wii.
Probably Smash. Maybe Odyssey. Likely Mario Maker on Wii U.
1. AceCombat 7 at Home (basically Forza with wings for fighter jet fans 😀)
2. Civ 6 on the GO
More World of Light in Smash. I gotta get back to Octopath Traveler so I can finish it off and move on to my next game. Arcade Archives Double Dragon 2: The Revenge is saying hello to me...
I'm getting back into Starlink (on PS4) and spending some time with my virtual console games on Wii. I think this might be the first time this happened since I bought it, but it's been a while since I spent much time with my Switch.
Today was Pokemon GO's Feebas event and our EX Raid was this morning, so I did that today. I think I'm gonna play a little Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood tonight on the XONE, trying to get caught up before the AC3 remaster releases. Tomorrow is probably some Smash, some Let's Go Pikachu, and some Undertale which I started for the first time tonight. Maybe some Kyogre/Groudon raids in PoGo if I get my car fixed in time.
Yeah, apparently, they don't allow you to save the spirit fights as videos. I would love to upload and show how unfair they can be... especially the Fire Emblem Ace & Advance spirit fights. and they don't let you save challengers fights either. IOW there are limits to what fights they allow you to save (for those who don't own it yet)
Octopath travler
New super Mario bros deluxe
Smash!!
Playing Mario Oddyssey, probably about two thirds through the main story and really enjoying it. Also played a bit of Jackbox party 2 last night with family friends. Descended into silliness when most of the kids' answers for whiplash and fibbage involved willies and bums, but there was much laughter and fun.
Been playing The World Ends With You: Final Remix
I picked it up at launch but only this month got around to starting it. I hope to finish it before Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out.
DK Tropical Freeze
@MJInnocent & @Venus_Adept thanks we are still waiting on him to show up. Should be any day now
I've been playing Smash, Smash and... Smash!
Oh I also put a couple hours into God of War, since I needed to charge the batteries of the Pro pad.
@derickw69 brilliant stuff very exciting, enjoy
Absolutely nothing. Been in spain hanging out with friends, maybe i’ll have a little burst on outrun when I get back. Maybe.
Octopath Traveler. There is some grinding, though.
