Back in March of last year, QUByte Interactive revealed that it had acquired the console rights to Visco Corporation's bullet hell series, Vasara, noting that a collection containing both Vasara and Vasara 2 would be headed to Switch. We now have a little more information about the release, and it's good news for physical fans.
That's right, thanks to a partnership with Strictly Limited Games, a physical version of this two-game collection will soon be heading to a Switch near you. Both games are being treated to HD overhauls and will feature exclusive new content.
If you haven't experienced Vasara before, the games were previously exclusive to Japanese arcades, having players fight against warships, battle tanks, giant robots, evil soldiers, and rogue Samurais to prevent 1600's Japan from being taken over by tyrannical forces. This new collection will also be launching digitally, with both forms of release expected to arrive early this year.
Does this one sound like your kind of thing? Have you been waiting for more news on Vasara since that initial announcement? There's not long to wait now, folks!

Cool but I imagine so many posts in someone will complain about the switch having too many shumps and not some other genre.
Strictly Limited seem to be going right where Super rare Games and Limited Run Games have gone wrong.
A double pack on one cart. Rather than two for double the price and a nice gap between releases.
SRG started well but got greedy with membership and double packs for £60.
LRG just tried to milk its fans from the start. I hope Strictly dont get greedy.
@Stocksy
If you're referring to the Outlast bundle on Limited Run Games, I believe LRG explained in an email that the size of the games were too large to make a single cartridge release affordable, so they opted for two cartridges instead.
As for Super Rare Game's Knights of Pen & Paper collection, I dunno, that could've either been a developer choice or a SRG decision.
@RupeeClock I was referencing Pen & Paper, I did buy it anyway but...
LRG always have a plausible excuse as do SRG but greed is the real reason behind most of their decisions. They still haven't shipped a game they sold last MAY.
It doesnt matter if its a dev choice or their choice in all these cases... they could still make better choices and the way the currently operate its not sustainable as more and more customers are being turned off.
So of us are mugs and will still want to complete the set... "gotta catch them all" and all that... but I am certainly far from a happy camper.
@Stocksy
SRG haven't shipped a game you brought from them in May?
It should be that they shouldn't have any unfulfilled orders other than Knights of Pen & Paper, everything else released so far is sold out or has limited stock remaining.
Why do people defend the nasty people at LRG? They make you pay and can't cancel (obviously they are over their head with the amount of games on back order and their slow packing because they want the interest earned on all our money etc, and don't want more staff). Stuff comes up, I had a funeral, had to travel, asked to cancel, was threatened with being banned. The whole "limited release" scene is just there to suck money out of people with more dollars than sense.
@RupeeClock no sorry limited run.... I didn’t order it... but they have listed a game outstading they think will ship in feb that they listed for sale last May... that’s outrageous
@nate83km agree. They have too many people that act like they are “fans” - no they are customers.
@nate83km
Limited Run takes the funds up front so they can actually carry out the manufacturing and shipping.
They allow you to request address changes on outstanding orders unless they have reached the shipping stage.
Why they would threaten to ban you if you request a cancellation though sounds odd.
@Stocksy
Is that for Pixeljunk monsters? It seems like they face challenges getting games approved and published on a per-game basis, that also involves the developer at times. West of Loathing faced delays for developer reasons.
I've had occasional issues with LRG but they've never been bad to me, the worst that's happened is I needed to follow up on my Broken Age pre-order, and they shipped it as soon as they noticed it was outstanding but eligible for fulfillment.
It was a special case though, because my Thumper order arrived with cosmetic damage to the game case, and I required a replacement case which they added to my Broken Age order.
I swear I saw "viagra" when I first read the thumbnail.
@Bruh
What a deal on that bundle!
Never heard of Vasara games before but the name got my attention since it's a Finnish word and means "hammer". Not sure if it was chosen because it is a Finnish word or if it came from somewhere else. It wouldn't be the first time though. Seems like it also has another meaning in Lithuanian, "summer". Or it doesn't have a meaning but they thought it sounded cool.
Every time a digital only game comes out everyone complains about the lack of physical releases but every time a physical release gets announced every one complains that they don't like that either?
I love shmups!
Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge.
Yes. Bring it on.
easy day one for me.
Kind of unrelated, but I'm still waiting on the release of Psyvariar Delta....Where'd it go?
I need a money tree.
