Sitting proudly on our list of must-do things in Japan is the Kirby Cafe, a restaurant dedicated to our favourite pink sphere of joy and related, yummy-looking food. Starting on 27th February, the cafe is seeing a bit of an overhaul, introducing new menu items and even some new merchandise which you can take home after you've eaten.
You can see all of the new goodies in the images below (and we'd urge you to check out this gallery of our favourite meals and products from the cafe's original setup, too).
As promised, once you've gobbled up your meal of choice, you can take home your very own souvenir or twenty. In some ways, it's quite lucky that we don't live in Japan - we'd end up taking the entire store home if we could.
If you're lucky enough to live nearby or happen to be visiting Japan soon, reservations for this second phase open on 12th February. You can make your reservations on the cafe's website (it's located in Tokyo Skytree Town and is open until 2nd June).
Which option would you go for, given the chance? Would you like a Kirby Cafe to open in your area? Tell us below.

Kirby meets the exorcist. The poor thing is throwing up a sandwich twice its size.
I can't wait to eat that sandwich off Kirby's mouth with my own mouth.
Went to the Kirby Cafe once and it really is as good as it looks. Food and drinks were both excellent. Brilliant experience and well worth going if you're in Tokyo while it's around! Really wish I could go again.
Wish they'd open up gaming related cafés in the west as well. Kirby puking out sandwiches really is something else
@MagnaRoader How do you know he is puking, maybe he is trying to suck that sandwich in to get sandwich abilities?
When teleports are invented that's the first place I'm going.
@dugan well then it's quite rude that we are stealing his snack
Man I'd kill to try those Kirby burgers!
This is great! I'm so happy they extended it I going to Tokyo in April and was bummed thinking I'd miss it
Why can't this come to the west 😭
Going to Tokyo in April. Already had Pokemon Cafe on the itinerary, why not Kirby?
cmon why no west?
Its as if Kirby Cafe is the same thing as Mother 3.
@ImagineerNik Me too!
February 27 is my Birthday! If I had of known I would have saved up. Don't even have a passport though.
I'm not too proud to admit I made several squealing noises looking at this.
including, but not limited to, "uwu" sounds.
Sandwich inhaling Kirby is...dubious.....I wonder what copy ability you get from a bratwurst?
Other than that, I lament both that I can't get this, and that even if I could there's no way I'm paying what they're charging for such little food.
@ImagineerNik Better make a reservation soon. When we were there in October, we tried to get in, but the nice lady said at the entrance that you can only enter if you have a reservation, and the soonest we could get in was two months later or so.
We could buy some merch in the Kirby café store, though, which was a few stores away from the main café.
@DrawnRed @MysticGengar Japan is a very different country from most of the world in terms of what appeals to them and what is acceptable to like. For them, cuteness is everywhere, even including stuff like warning signs, and Kirby is by far one of the most loved characters there. Even people who don't play video games at all usually know Kirby. Now compare this to say the US: I'm pretty sure that there's a very large amount even among gamers who have never even heard of Kirby, and people with no ties to gaming at all probably know even less of him.
So while something like a Pokémon Center can work outside of Japan, because Pokémon is a worldwide multimedia phenomenon, Kirby is much less known, much less popular, and it's very cute, which might scare away tons of people in the West (because it might hurt ther images or whatever).
@Krisi
Can't argue with logic. We still don't get anything video game cafe related at all though, so that still sucks.
@ImagineerNik Here's my updated list:
1. Kirby Cafe
2. Pokemon Cafe & Pokemon Center
3. Monster Hunter Cafe
4. Nintendo HQ
@NEStalgia Sand Kirby, of course!
yum yum yeah would love a kirby cafe in leeds 😅😅😅
@Reigestugatensho
Just know that you can't actually go in the Nintendo HQ.
@Rhaoulos
Yeah...that one's uh...not very appealing.
@dugan Have you ever played Kirby Superstar? You do in fact barf food into player 2's mouth like a mother bird. XQ
But yeah he's probably meant to be inhaling it.
@CharlieSmile
These are common reactions to encountering a Kirby. :3
@Tempestryke No, I have only played epic yarn, robobot, triple deluxe and star allies. Superstar sounds, well, yuck!
@dugan
Superstar is really fun and holds up well. Its just that one little thing that is Yuck! XQ
They coulda thought of another way to share health.
Pretty nice stuff.
I've just visited the Kirby Cafe Summer popup store at Tokyo SkyTree complex open until 23rd September. The official merch on the 2nd floor shop is unique but quite expensive.
But you if you want to eat in the Kirby Cafe on the 4th floor then you need to pre-book well in advance using the following URL https://kirbycafe.jp/
