Edmund McMillen - the creator behind The Binding of Isaac - has taken to Twitter to announce the indie roguelike game, first released in 2011, will receive its final sizable DLC pack for real this time around.
There's currently no information regarding a release date for The Binding of Isaac: Repentance, but McMillen said the downloadable content will be published by Nicalis and will include the Antibirth mod, a new soundtrack, new cutscenes and new story content. Antibirth was previously released as a PC mod and will now finally be made available to console players.
The Binding of Isaac first made its way across to the Switch in 2017. Check out the video for the new DLC title above.
Will you be playing the final Binding of Isaac DLC pack? Are you a fan of McMillen's work? Tell us in the comments below.

Noooo, I need to stop playing this game. Over 750 hours now, it's one of the main reason I have so many neglected games in my backlog.
That the game was first released in 2011 and is still set to get one last DLC is really testament to a loyal fanbase and dedicated developer.
What other games get support for so long? There's probably be 10 different Call of Duty games released in that same time.
Didn’t like the game. Tried but couldn’t.
@Heavyarms55 7 I checked and counted 8 if you count the 1 releasing this year but as for this they have released the final update to this game twice now supposedly and this is the 3rd time its been the final dlc if I recall but there are also rumours its from a player made dlc which people are hoping is true.
@edgedino I was close. Still, that's not a small number of games. Especially since each one gets at least a couple DLC. My point was, that this little indie game has a loyal fanbase all this time and is still getting content, where a so-called major AAA series needs to release a "new" game almost every year.
It speaks really well to the small indie game and a remarkably loyal fanbase.
A great kickstarter run for the board game, and now a new addition to the game yet again. I've only played rebirth on the 3DS, but from what I've heard the final hardest challenge in the game wasn't that great, so now this game gets another chance to go out big.
I love all of Edmund McMillen's games! I just haven't gotten around to purchasing this one on Nintendo Switch yet. Hopefully it will go on discount at some point and sway me towards getting it!
speaking of which when we going to get super meat boy in physical form?
The final end game boss is a Catholic priest with his altar boys.
Oh, thank goodness! I was worried that this had been dropped. I assume that it includes the missing two booster packs, and The Forgotten? Am at 635 hours with it now. Like @BenAV, this game is keeping me away from everything else. And I am still nowhere near being done with it.
@Heavyarms55 oh yes and it don't hurt that its a randomly generated game to stave off boredom but cod(fish) has to release a new one each time otherwise they don't make profits as much, but on a side note there are 2 separate companies or studios whichever the right wording is that make cod(fish) games so they take turns basically but this is just going off of memory.
I’m looking forward to this
have just started to fall for Isaac, this game gives you nothing and trying to figure out how the game works by myself was brutal. like life, this game needs help and support to get grips with and soon enough you can make it to bed on a regular basis without too much trouble.
Birth, life, pain, religion, death, superstition... never played any game that deals with such themes in such a heavy way..
Amazing game.
Love this game, can't help myself going back to it every now and then, it's just too addictive. I don't know how many hours I've played it but like @BenAV and @Ooyah it has made my backlog huge.
@BensonUii I choose COD because it's the polar opposite. BOI is a highly creative game that has retained its audience for years and years. COD is a series that sticks to a very very standardized formula and also retains a very loyal fanbase. Both are extreme cases. One of a game that has remained active for an incredible amount of time without serious loss of a community. The other is a series that has dumped every idea they've ever had in a new game every 3 hours and still retained its fanbase. (and yes, I know it isn't that frequently)
Personally I think COD is very greedy with its business model. They could release half as many games and support them for twice as long easily. Or at least they could have, if they hadn't already established this as the norm.
I will get the DLC if it comes to Switch.
But that is a big if, Nicalis has been really bad about supporting the console releases after their original release. Unless I'm mistaken we haven't still even gotten the final DLC Pack that was supposed to be a part of the Afterbirth+ collection, which was a part of the initial Switch version.
@nintendolife any official confirmation this will come to switch? Seriously hope it does.
If not at least putting out booster packs 4 & 5 would be much appreciated.
My copy is still sealed, i'm good for DLC for some time ha ha
Can't bring myself to play this as the themes of the gamr make me uncomfortable so sadly miss the great gameplay.
Bloody great game. I've ignored it for about 6 months.. good excuse to start it up again
@Daftbomb edmund confirmed on twitter that it will come to ps4, switch and pc. But before it comes to any platform he first wants to have finished the final 2 boosters for ps4 and switch.
@edgedino The player made content was already confirmed, it will contain the full antibirth mod reworked into the isaac canon, and than still more stuff. Also the reason this expansion is getting made is because edmund promised if the four souls campaign reached 500k he would make a final expansion. I think it reached about 1,5 million. They only needed 50k to make four souls.
I reckon this will trigger an Eshop sale right before this doc drops.
Niceeee looking forward to it!
Itd gonna be really nice! 120 hours in this game and so much things that I still to complete.
Oh no. This game is like an addiction for me. Once I get the DLC, I'll probably put another few hundred hours into it
@aljoriz I can’t speak for any of the new cutscenes, but in the current build of the game, only two have voice acting: the intro and the first ending. The rest are almost entirely visual in terms of storytelling.
