Nintendo's latest Direct dished up a few spooky surprises including the announcement Luigi's Mansion 3 was on the way to the Switch in 2019. Later on, we also found out a bit more about the upcoming 3DS release.
In Luigi's original outing - returning on 12th October in North America and 19th October in Europe - players will be able to explore the mansion alongside a friend. You can capture ghosts and even take on bosses together. To play the full story, both players will need to own a copy of the game. To take on bosses, all that's required is a single game card.
The title will also include support for select amiibo. With these you can heal Luigi and find hidden Boo.

I want this game so bad. I just got Dark Moon, never played it before... loving it. Loved this game back in the day.
@kepsux To play through the full game, yes, but you can do the Boss Rush co-operatively via Download Play, as I understand it.
Already got this pre ordered a while back. I loved the original, and I can't wait to have it on a portable so I don't have to dig my Gamecube out to play it.
The 2nd player character looks UGLY!! They could have at least put Mario or Waluigi!

I got a 3ds but i would prefer this on Switch. 3ds already had a luigi mansion game. Don't see much reason for a second own.
Does anyone know if this is in 3D? The sequel was beautiful in 3D.

@123akis I definitely agree that the second player looks awful, but adding Mario would cause a pretty huge plot hole!
Personally, I wish they’d just have added in a regular-looking Luigi with a different colored hat. Or even Daisy would’ve been neat, and it’d give her something to be in that’s not a sports game.
@dimi I swear they said something like "while you're waiting for the new version to appear..." when they first started talking about this title!
I definitely can't wait for this one since I've only played Luigi's Mansion 2/Dark Moon. It'll be fun to experience this game for the first time.
It's a very good game, I hope it features stereoscopic 3D which worked great on Luigi's Mansion 2.
i mean. its a nice touch but...is co op honestly needed in a game thats literally...well...extremely short.

and yet, i was hoping that the first two Luigi's mansion games would be released on the Nintendo switch and not the 3DS.
I’d love to see the 2 system play with one game cart modes come to the Switch. I didn’t run into it often on 3DS, but it’s a darn cool feature.
@Burning_Spear I'm also wondering, this will make the difference between me buying it twice for co-op (looking past the silly blobby second player...), or not at all and just replay it on my cube while waiting for 3.
@Burning_Spear I've forgotten the source but yes this is supposed to be in Stereoscopic 3d just like Dark Moon.
