With seven days still to go at the time of writing, Boomerang Games' The Seashore has successfully reached its Kickstarter goal to secure development for Nintendo Switch.
The game is an action-platformer with RPG and Metroidvania elements designed to be played in co-op mode - in fact, for this title you have to play with a friend as the entire game revolves around the teamwork of two characters. Taking control of a soldier named Gunman, and a swordmaster called Spark, you and a friend will find that both characters have radically different abilities and motives, but are united by one goal - to get to 'The Seashore'.
The developer has noted that the Switch was chosen as the main goal for release thanks to the necessary player interaction while playing the title, no doubt referring to the ease of grabbing a Joy-Con each to play together. All going well, this could be an interesting game to enjoy as a couch co-op adventure.
With the funding campaign still taking place, and the goal having only just being reached, there is no word as of yet for a possible release window. We'll make sure to keep an eye out for any further news.
Until then, what do you think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Thats me out as i dont have any real friends
One of those games I like to play with my daughters.
I welcome all co-op, but I'm not too keen on the overall style. I'll jot it down as a maybe.
It's going to be interesting to see how well this game will sell.
No solo play is an instant no-buy for me, and I can imagine most people will think the same.
Looks very simple. Not a fan of the characters' art.
'Inspired by Shovel Knight and Super Metroid'
And with 'inspired by' they mean 'worse than'
.....wth?
Not sure why a dev would instantly hand-cuff their game by requiring co-op. It's nice that it reached it's goal but 197 backers is hardly a representation of the market it will be serving. Unless it has online features to support the mandatory co-op, it's DOA. Seems like a rookie move..
Requiring co-op without any sort of AI alternative is incredibly stupid.
Is this a game where you go kill ISIS? I'm in if that's the case.
Im torn on this one but I can see the potential.
Looks cool...
