The Switch has had no shortage of excellent indie games in the last year, fueled in no small part by the convenience offered by the portability of the console. More often than not, indie games are much shorter than AAA games, but that just makes them that much more suited to a console that can be played on the go in short bursts. One notable indie game from last year was Flinthook, the latest action platformer from Tribute Games, and it’s now been confirmed to be coming to the Switch.
There’s no news on when we can expect to see it on the eShop, but Limited Run Games has announced that it will be producing a batch of physical cartridges for the game, so those of you that only buy physical can rejoice. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too much longer for this one, it got some pretty good reviews and will no doubt debut to an eager audience whenever it hits the Switch.
What do you think? Will you pick this up on the Switch? Have you played it elsewhere? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Oh baby LR has arrived for the Switch!! More physical choices!! 👍👍
The pixel art looks amazing, but I don’t think I’ll be interested enough to pick it up
A purchase for sure!
Gah, I've been waiting for this! Sold Anyone had any experience with Limited Run Games? Is it as infuriating as I imagine it will be?
This is a fantastic game. The graphics can get a little confusing in some levels but overall this is great.
This and dead cells coming has made my day.
This is a really fun game with some wonderful art.
@GrailUK bought quite a few Vita titles from them. You have to pay attention to when orders go up (they have email notification I believe, but I just set an alarm on my phone calendar), and get in there quick for big/popular Indies. Otherwise it's easy as ordering from anywhere else.
Finally, more old 2D indie titles.
Will get it for sure, but I think for once I'll go digital
Loving the look of this!
This and Dead Cells are two of my favorite Steam-games! Will get them both day 0 on Switch!
Although I really wish they dropped the roguelike elements of this game, it is really fun and well put together. Easily double-dipping, been wanting to play this one during lunch breaks for a while now.
@GrailUK depends on the game. Some it's easy others no way. Interested to see how their first switch games do
Another what seems to be good looking indie game. I'm rather tempted by this one. Nintendo just need to stop so I can actually keep my wallet closed for a while!
I own a Switch...only heard about this game and Mercenary Kings today.....they both look pretty good and fun!! physical copies available on top of that...sold....canadian studio....sold again! I personally like platformers therefore I cannot complaint as there are so many good options on the Switch (The Mummy Demastered, Pankapu, Rayman, Shovel Knight, Cave Story, Axiom Verge, Guns Gore & Cannoli, Nightmare Boy, Azure Striker Gunvolt, Shantae, Sonia Mania, Wonderboy, Mighty Gunvolt Burst, etc.)
This looks cool, but I'm currently more excited that Tribute is bringing Mercenary Kings to Switch, too. I've played that game extensively on Steam and always wished that I had it on a console (a portable one, even!) for easier access.
I highly recommend picking that one up when it hits for anyone who likes classic run-and-gun titles like Contra, Metal Slug, or even Megaman.
I enjoyed this game on PS4. Very muchin the roguelite mold, with gradual upgrade unlocks, but you still need to refine your skills to anywhere. My kind of game, though I don’t claim to be a great player!
I personally found it fairly difficult, paticularly some of the boos battles, and certain rooms - but it kept me coming back for a decent period. I felt the mechanics of moving with the grapple hook required a little bit of getting used to, but that’s probably my lack of skill talking. Your mileage likely will vary.
One thing about this game’s visuals: I like the pastel, chunky aesthetic - but found that one has to look somewhat closely to avoid some of the spikes/ hazards. Occasionally, I found myself tagged by something I didn’t realize was there. Not a dealbreaker, and might have been patched by now - just be aware, this game requires fairly close attention.
I am very excited about this one....
The mechanics are pure sex, but there are too many traps and obstacles that blend in and really kill a run.
I'd be more tempted to double dip had Enter the Gungeon not sucked me back in, but I hope it does well, and Tribute brings some other titles over, particularly Curses N' Chaos.
@Spiders Ah i really diodnt like Curses and Chaos. It looks good but is just super repetetive.
@YANDMAN it definitely is. It reminds me of the old school 1-screen arcade games I grew up with though, and I love the soundtrack as well. It's definitely a niche appeal.
@Spiders Totally agree. This is a perfect release for the system.
