Yesterday would have been Satoru Iwata's 58th birthday. The Nintendo president tragically passed away in 2015 and left behind a striking legacy within the games industry, having overseen some of the company's biggest commercial and critical successes.
Since his passing, many within the industry have done their best to pay him tribute; the Switch itself contains a hidden copy of Golf on the NES, Nintendo's way of putting a little bit of Iwata into every system it sells.
Now, serial amiibo customiser Miss Ganda Kris has created one of the most touching physical tributes to the great man we've seen so far - Iwata immortalised as an amiibo, complete with custom packaging.
You can see how she did it by watching the video above. We don't know about you, but we'd buy this amiibo in a heartbeat if it ever went into official production.

Legend.
Nice, it is very fitting
I wish this legend would have been here to witness the success of the Switch.
Mods: tone down the language.
Be great that when you scanned it Golf booted up.
Iwata was a special dude. And that quote is legendary...wish he was around to see so many people happy with Nintendo. His journey had to end with the debacle of the Wii U at max volume. I definitely miss his presence in the world of Nintendo. It was always a joy when a new Direct came out...even if I didn't care about all the games. He had a charm to him that's for sure..
Aww! She should make a shop on etsy or something so we can buy them!
@Rhaoulos what an offensive, ugly, nasty comment.
Happy Birthday, Iwata san !
Wish you hear great news about Nintendo Switch sales from Heaven above...
@Rhaoulos
"Why can't useless people like Kanye West, or Justin shieter die instead?"
Hahahaha....
I never like Kanye West too.
Even E.T. by Katy Perry, i like Katy Perry Only version than duet with Kanye West.
Kanye West in my opinion looks so arrogant , mean and annoying.
@Rhaoulos what a stupid, discusting comment. You shouldn't wish death upon anyone
The finished piece is amazing... But I can't watch this!!! She's ripping heads and limbs off of my favorite characters! She's part of the reason scalpers make so much off of amiibo online... X_X
And in our hearts, you'll live forever.
Rest in peace...
Gandakris is amazing, I love her since day 1 amiibo.
@OrigamiSquirtle she has a shop, I think she has the link over at her Twitter account.
@1UP_MARIO Only those who have shown to have no respect for life other then their own deserve the wish of death for they have forfeit their right to live long ago.
@Rhaoulos @khululy
@Nintendoforlife XD it was tongue in cheek quasi profound comment
I would so buy it if Nintendo asked her if they could use the model for production to sell.
I own a Ganda Kris custom Shadow Mario amiibo, and I must say her work is incredible, the attention to detail is exceptional.
nice
@1UP_MARIO Not wishing anyone's death, but I'd trade them for people like Iwata, Prince, David Bowie or Johnny Hallyday in a heartbeat.
God she's so good. One of these days I'm gonna have to buy one.
Iwata is the origin of one of my favorite sayings, unless of course he got it from somewhere else;
If you want to surprise someone, it would be silly to just ask them what they want.
Please, Nintendo, make this happen for real.
I would pick this up in a heartbeat if it ever went into production. This is coming from someone who normally just collects Zelda Amiibo.
Wow, I lack both the patience and the steady hands to even dream of some project like that...sheesh!
@Rhaoulos
Sorry, but who in the hell is Justin Sheiter?
@Rhaoulos The secret to their longetivity? Think the episode of South Park w Christopher Reeve.
@Anti-Matter You always post on here about how you like peaceful games and hate 'adult' games but you laughed at a comment about killing real, living people and basically agreed with that person. That feels strange to me.
@chriiiiiiiiiis
Oh, about that.
Actually i disagree with hoping to death for certain peoples like that.
But, i was making a joke about Kanye West.
I try not to get into the cult of celebrity (Perfume and Ming Na Wen obsession notwithstanding) but I swear Iwata-dono was a man I would have been proud to work for. It is so rare to get a CEO that cares about not only the employees, but the customers and the industry. Nintendo under his reign became much more personable to me. I've always loved Nintendo as a manufacturer/producer of games but Iwata's grace and good humor really made me love Nintendo as a company. After all, so goes the Captain, so goes the ship.
Nice.
