Night School Studio is bringing its spooky adventure title Oxenfree to the Switch eShop, it has been revealed.
Originally released on PS4, Xbox One and Steam in 2016, Oxenfree casts the player as Alex, who travels with her stepbrother Jonas to an abandoned military island packed with hidden secrets.
The game is unique in that it offers a multiple-choice conversation system that alters the story as you play, building your in-game relationships with every reply, statement and question. There's also a radio which allows you manipulate the game world and make contact with the strange and mysterious forces that have been dormant on the island for the past 70 years.

Our friends over at Push Square quite liked it, saying:
It may be brief, but Oxenfree has elements of greatness and stands out as an excellent example of video game storytelling. It's also a beautiful and intriguing game that draws you in from the very start and makes you want to see just how deep the rabbit hole goes. Unfortunately, the situational narrative is let down slightly in the final third where it confuses even itself and fails to merge with the far stronger and more prominent social narrative.
Night School Studio says the game will arrive in October. Will you be downloading it?

Cool look to this game. I didn't know it existed until I heard it was coming to the Switch and I'm now intrigued.
Good luck to them but it's not for me.
I've heard amazing things about this game. I'm glad that the Switch is getting great ports — hopefully these same studios will eventually invest new games as well
Oh dear.
So happy this is headed to Switch 🙂
Yep !! Just one of some kind of game I'm waiting for on my Switch !!!
Definitely interested! This and Night in the Woods would be awesome!
@Kirbyfan Why oh dear?
Hmm, looks kinda interesting, but if the storyline confuses itself, I would be annoyed. I hate inconsistency
I'm looking forward to this one. Been eyeing it on PC for a while now.
Definitely getting this, maybe not at launch but at some point
I hope they price this in the cheap side since it will be free on Xbox One mid September.
Olly, olly...
Looks good, love the style and the audio is really setting the mood. Could indeed be a must-have.
The game is excellent. There are multiple endings based off of the decisions you make. I was fortunate enough to find the best ending on my first playthrough. The game is creepy in a scooby doo meets pg 13 horror/sci fi sort of way. While some of the characters can be annoying, I found them to be realistic and believable characters. I even got a little misty at the end.
Definitely intereste- dang hang on...my wallet is making a break for it...
Oxenfree is pretty cool from what I got to play at IGF last year, happy it's coming Switch-side.
Knights and Bikes next, please!
Just downloaded on PS4 for 5 bucks
I've almost bought this several times on PS4. It has an interesting look. But everytime I end up not buying it because of the issues mentioned in the different reviews.
@Bunkerneath Not sure what PushSquare missed, but the whole game's narrative made perfect sense to me. They could be referring to the constant dialog which... takes a change, but plot-wise, it is all cohesive and understandable. Thoroughly enjoyable, yet brief game. To its credit, it's brief because the story is so engrossing you'll want to play it nonstop front to end. Cheers!
I've played it on Steam, and I can't wait to get it on Switch! I love Oxenfree so Day 1 Purchase for me ^_^
Will buy eventually.
Mate of mine finished it over the weekend on ps4, says it's very good.
He got the limited run boxed copy on the off chance in a store.
It now goes for silly money online, jammy sod.
I'll definitely download this at launch.
If finished this game on PC and highly recommend it to people who haven't played it before.
Definitely look like an interesting game, wish I could have played it on PC, but despite looking so simple that game pull no punches, my computer couldn't run it faster than 1fps XD;;;
I'll stay away from this probably unless for some reason it gets an amazing review.
Nice to see it come to the switch, but on a personal level I already have it on my iPad so it just is enforcing the fact that we are getting sloppy seconds from mobile. I know switch is new and I'm glad it's there for people who have not played it but for me I won't be double dipping for this game this time
i want this
Saw a lets play once, it looks like a walking simulator with lots of chatting. I don't know if its anything for me, but we'll see.
@FragRed just so many games I want that I can’t by. I’m hoping to get Mario odyssey and Monster Hunter stories but I don’t have unlimited money so I can’t by games like this that I could only see myself playing a couple of times.
