If you've been enjoying Puyo Puyo Tetris on your Nintendo Switch then you might just want to add Soldam: Drop, Connect, Erase to your watch list. Released as a Switch launch game in Japan, this is now being brought to Western shores by Dispatch Games, a brand-new publisher based in California. It will be out this fall as a packaged retail release as well as digital download via the eShop.
The original Soldam was released as a arcade game in 1992 by Jaleco and it was a popular tile-matching game for its time. In Soldam: Drop, Connect, Erase the game has been refreshed with updated graphics and gameplay, but it retains its arcade charm with catchy music and unique character.
In the game, players rotate and drop the Soldam fruits to match colours. You simply need to keep connecting the same-coloured Soldam to form an entire row and erase. By using flanking methods you can change the colours of previously dropped Soldam to your advantage.
If you are a fan of falling block puzzler games then this might be the one for you. Let us know if you plan to pick it up later this year with a comment below.

Seems too basic and simple for the switch. Is it like a poor mans Battle Trozai?
this game has been available for a while now on the JP eshop WITH english language, so you can get it there right now if you want.
Heh, just saw a Soldam game on Game Boy yesterday, although I never connected it to the earlier seen title in Japanese eShop (I still have quite a way to go with kana). The series uses an interesting concept indeed.
Retail?! Isn't this like $10 in the Japanese eShop?
It looked far too simplistic even for THAT asking price, let alone whatever they're going to demand for a retail release!
Meh, looks like just another match the tiles game which are shovelled out on IOS everyday
Would suit iOS android type as it's free. Switch will put its price beyond crazy and no one will buy it
Looks rubbish
Doesn't look that good. I'll just stick to Puyo Puyo Tetris.
By Jaleco used to be ??
Was wondering when this was coming over. If reviews are good, I'll catch in a price drop.
Physical is appreciated though, for sure
Been playing the Japanese import.
Kinda.
It is extremely lacking in content. There's no online play, you can only play versus mode with someone locally (no CPU) and the only single player content is an endless mode and a mission mode where you clear lines in pre-arranged sets of orbs.
The developer behind this is City Connection
Looks below average but I love quirky retail games so I'll be buying this.
Good it's not just me who thinks this looks kind of Shabby. These kind of releases really have mce worried Sigh.........I really wouldn't pay 19.99 for this. If it was Digital only I wouldn't pay 9.99. it looks that bad. ShovelWare comes to mind
Megacheap smartphone quality. Congratulations Nintendo! ^^
Nothing special.
Soldam's content and visuals are like an old SNES or Game Boy arcade puzzle game. Back in the day games like this were all released on a cartridge. So, priced at 19,99 I see no problem. This game has a following and despite looking like a bare bones version it's quite polished. Also, the more retail games, the better.
