Over the past weekend there was six hours of free online gameplay to be had in the ARMS Global Testpunch, which mimicked equivalent Splatoon and Splatoon 2 events in setting up multiple one hour sessions. The Party online mode gave players opportunities to try out multiple setups for battle, including V-Ball and various configurations of brawls. One common remark in our live blog comments was a desire to try out the other modes revealed in the recent ARMS Direct; pleasingly, we'll have that opportunity.
In the coming weekend both the Hoops and Skillshot minigames will go into the rotation of online play (thanks Eurogamer). The former is all about successfully executing grab moves, while the latter requires both speed and precision to hit targets before your rival. Check out the GIFs below, while both modes can be seen in the ARMS Direct video - skip to 9 minutes 10 seconds if it doesn't do so automatically.

Are you looking forward to trying out these new modes?

Nice!
Awesome to see, more aspects to original IP. Good job Nintendo.. I predict a riot.. or at least a summer smash.
Why do you write UK/Ireland separate from Europe? That formatting makes no sense. You know these countries are European, right? Also, you're leaving out WEST (Portugal).
Why don't you categorise it like this?
BST/WEST (UTC+1)
CEST (UTC+2)
EEST (UTC+3)
Oh good, even less time we get to play the far more enjoyable 1v1 mode...
From the direct thumbnail it looks like having spiral irises is a result of the ARMS mutation and not something everyone has in-universe, since Mechanica has normal irises.
Can't wait for the weekend to arrive! ARMS is great and I'm looking forward in trying new modes
@BornInNorway81 I fully agree and find more logical what you wrote:
BST/WEST (UTC+1)

EEST (UTC+3)
No. But I hope others enjoy themselves.
@HeroponRiki You'll have all the time in the world when the game comes out.
Yes! I wanted to try Hoops and now I will be able to. I hope they take out V-Ball so there is more time to fight and try out Hoops.
@HeroponRiki I enjoyed everything except 1v1 V-Ball. That was kind of boring. I loved 2v2 modes, and the Free For All style fights. Adding in some Hoops sounds good to me.
We need MOAR (More) Characters from DLC when the game has been released.
12 is still not enough.
16 - 20 will be great choices.
More characters, more stages, even better.
8pm is much easier for me than 7pm - looking forward to trying out the new modes
Definitely looks better than Volleyball.
I hope we can use characters we couldn't in the the first portion of the testpunch. Byte and Barq, here I come!
After playing the first day, I keep missing these...hopefully I can play at least once more for the other modes.
