Why did you run these articles after Christmas? Would have made more sense to countdown to the big day, surely? We're into the new year now and Christmas is long forgotten.
@Baker1000 It's just tradition. Advent starts on the fourth Sunday before Christmas as a lead in, the birth of Christ is on the 25th and ushers in 12 days of celebration (the twelve days of Christmas), ending with epiphany on January 6th. Traditionally, the whole 12 days of Christmas were the true holiday.
New Year was at the end of March and only changed to January 1st in 1752 (for UK and US). That's also why we start with spring when we list seasons - because spring used to be the first season of the year.
Basically, current practices don't accord fully with tradition, though tradition is still important even if it doesn't quite make sense anymore.
@Sakura well, consider me enlightened it's just I don't remember this being a thing after Christmas last year. Maybe I wasn't paying attention.
