It's fair to say that there is a lot of excitement for the upcoming Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition, bundled with 30 of the best classic NES games. If you're a seasoned Nintendo fan then you're certainly going to want to find one under your Christmas tree this year.
To celebrate the launch of the NES Mini our chums at Nintendo UK ran a #ILoveNES contest, which gave UK fans a chance to show off their love and nostalgia for the NES. With the great prize of a NES Mini on offer, it goes without saying that there was a great response.
We have to say we really love the winning entry:
And the runners-up efforts aren't bad either. We love former Official Nintendo Magazine Chris Scullion's early attempt at cosplay, too:
The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is being released on 11th November. Have you preordered yours yet? Check out our handy UK preorder and US preorder guides for the best deals.

Fantastic, I wish @scully1888 had won, brilliant picture and his love for Nintendo is infectious! Great entries though, congratulations to the winner, can't wait for the NES Mini myself! #ILoveNES!
"Former Official Nintendo Magazine staffer Chris Scullion, proving his long-standing love of Nintendo"
Really? Pretty sure I can see a Master System below his NES
Honestly, I don't love the NES or most of its games, but SMB3 is one of the best games of all time in my opinion.
Awesome pictures. I sold mine off back in 2009 - wish I had hung on to all of it. I have a decent collection on Wii U VC, but obviously not the same.
"Because it introduced me to Retro Gaming back in 2012"
That makes me feel so old for some reason
Things like this make you feel good to be old, especially if you're a long-running Nintendo fan, lol.
I grew up in the US, but these pics are great.
And I actually find it awesome that some young kid loves the NES, since 2012!
I'm 40, but I have an 11 year old brother, and he too has gotten into the NES. The system's cross generational appeal speak volumes to the quality of the physical hardware & software combined. The NES remains a viable and captivating experience, 30 plus years on.
I'd have sworn that Mario kid was a young Brentalfloss, honestly.
What an absolutely lousy jury to let such an uninspired effort win. What is this world coming to if we are going to award lazy people?
The first runner up with the heart made of dozens of cartridges has done a lot more work, and so did a few others. Not interested in cosplay or dress up, so that kid would also not have received any award from me.
The last picture is a bit too obvious about his/her religious beliefs, another thing I really don't like, but the story about the kid falling in love with NES gaming in 2012 is fantastic: it shows the draw that these older games can still have on kids nowadays, even if they don't look all shiny and "4K/120fps" rendered, and that's a wonderful thing indeed.
Good stuff
@yuwarite
Can,t agree more!
@ThanosReXXX
Someone owning bible adventures and showing it in this contest makes them too religious for you? I guess someone like you wouldn't be happy until there's a law that dictates separation of gaming and religion.
Anyway, some nice pics of NES collections here, always cool to see these.
@ThanosReXXX Nope, nothing religious... he's just showing off his rare cartridge.
@Mk_II I said obvious about religion, I never said "too religious". @dronesplitter It's not so much about showing it, but giving it a very prominent place in the picture, which makes it seem highly likely that he/she wanted to draw attention to it.
Obviously, I'm not certain if it is because of religious reasons or if it's because it's a rare game, but at the very least it seems to be both. Most people probably wouldn't buy a religious game if the source material wouldn't appeal to them, rare or not.
That's something for the most serious of collectors only, and this collection doesn't really seem all that extensive to me. And yes, I do think that religion has nothing to do with games. Games are a hobby, beliefs are not, and as such I like to steer clear of them. To each their own, and I respect that, but it's just not for me, which is why it really stood out for me that much. You can't help but notice right away that it is the most clearly visible title in the picture.
Sorry if that offends you guys, but I just don't see the need to do that. If there would have been such a thing as an atheist game or a non-believer game, I would have said the same thing, because that would stand out to me just as much as this does.
