In addition, of course, the singing duo have new amiibo that are due to arrive very soon, and with them will come a software update for the game.
The changelog for version 2.9.0, coming on 5th July, confirms the update will add amiibo functionality for those figures along with some additional tweaks and weapon balancing, showing that the development team is continually watching online play and planning adjustments.

Nice to see Splatoon has caught on as a bona-fide Nintendo IP.
Hopefully Nintendo will take more risks in the future!
Why doesn't Nintendo do patch notes like these for Smash Bros. updates?
I wish they put a little more effort into the Event Courses, they're as basic as they come.
@OorWullie Some in fairness are very good. I think they'll put a fair amount of effort into the Squid Sisters Course seeing as it's Splatoon and their amiibo are launching soon.
A little plug for a very short Pikmin level I made. I think it's a novel idea and have never seen it done before. It's been up for over 7 weeks and has only had the same number of players try it out.

Levels get buried after the initial upload.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I think that's the full event course in the video above.
@OorWullie Now I know you're messing.
But Inklings can't swim!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Not sure what you mean?I'm being serious haha
@SLIGEACH_EIRE bookmarked, I'll check it out
Wonder if these gals will get their own spin-off game.
@OorWullie They use very basic courses when showing the mystery mushroom costumes in trailers to show things like swimming, ducking and their Up pose. They don't represent the actual event course.
@EllenJMiller Ah OK, I don't normally watch the trailers.
@bro2dragons Because they know whatever they say some people would complain about a certain character getting "nurfed" or "buffed" I too would've like notes like that, luckily the fan base figures it out anyway!
I love that they turn into squids underwater.
Wait.... why are Splatfest ending?
@SteamedSquid i mean.... this is Nintendo were talking about
Not really keen on the balance changes. Did Dynamo Roller really need another nerf? Not too big of a deal though I guess.
Not so smart to end splatfests and still expect us to buy more amiibos for the game.
i got a feeling nintendo is working on a sequel to splatoon for nx reason why they re ending the splatfests but at least the servers will remain open
This game is going to quickly become useless when Splatoon 2 is launched. Almost near dang time to sell before everyone jumps ship or the servers get axed, like all those great Wii and WiiWare games.... As it is late(r) night games for me take minutes waiting for enough players.
ending splatfest? that really sucks. They're really showing their apathy towards Wii U users. I figured they'd at least keep doing stuff like that till the NX.
Hope they don't shut down the servers before the NX too
That bubbler nerf will really hurt the Cherry H-3. Because we needed one of the H-3s to get worse...
More Marie and Callie? Yes please!
These Marie and Callie sprites looks absolutely adorable.
Nintendo again doing the least it can...
