Splatoon's had more than its fair share of free content updates, and since last week's Nintendo Direct we now know that they haven't finished fiddling with the game just yet. In in effort, we assume, to try and make the game more varied, several changes have been brought into effect for version 2.6.
Most notable are the changes to various gear abilities, giving players more reason to use what were largely redundant abilities in the eyes of many fans. There are also some pretty drastic changes to the way in which Splatfests will work, suggesting that we've got plenty more of these organised events to look forward to in the future.
Check out the video below for a full rundown of all the delicious changes coming into effect in upgrade to Splatoon 2.6.

When a list of specific numbers and percentages is given, surely a written article is much better suited no?
@Zekrom025 Agreed.
@Zekrom025 Agreed. Plus a written article would be preferable to a video considering some of us are on mobile or even home internet with data caps.
Why not both?
I expect the Super Mario Maker new update news to pop-out soon.
Meh, 'not watching a video on numbers/tweaks.
If you just want boring text: http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14842/p/431
Great job, Alex.
Can't watch videos right now, does it show you the details of the weapon tweak adjustments, or does it just say the exact same thing Nintendo's website says 'some weapon tweaks and adjustments' but not specifics..?
@uhhhhhhhh It tells you this:

Plus the changes regarding Splatfest, which aren't minor either.
For all the great and functional changes that have been made over the past 12 months, i'm astonished that Nintendo still haven't addressed the game's current inability for the player to edit load-outs in between matches...
I agree with the people above; a written article would be nice for people who don't have the time to watch a video, prefer reading text, or other reasons. I don't mind videos or Alex himself (he's a lovely person) but it would be nice to have it written.
Alex is the best senpai, if he notices mii, then that would be SUPA SWELL! (0///0)
But ya, probably gonna give splat another go later, thanks for the notes senpai!
@ZAZX Absolutely. I don't mind the NL videos, they're very well done most of the time. But I don't want them to replace text altogether either. It's starting to happen more frequently lately and it's sort of bugging me.
@HeroOfTime32 cant be worse then ign video players were ads play non stop and majority of time ign video player is broken
Great video!
LOL at Sonic the Squidhog! XD
I haven't played Splatoon in like 6 months. But, I'd love to get a game going with friends one of these days. I remember having so much fun playing with @rjejr and another member who shall not be named, cause he stomps all over us every time lol
Please write out the changes. I'm not watching the video.
@JaxonH Yeah, I finally just lost all interest. It's winter, and I pretty much lose interest in everything, but I don't see it coming back. I was going over my back log in my head today and it just kept getting longer and longer. And one of the problems w/ mostly playing JRPG is that they are so long, and when you only play an hour or 2 a day it takes months to finish 1 game. I haven't even started Ni No Kuni and Kingdoms of Alumar Reckoning yet. I'll be gaming on my PS3 for at least another 3 years yet.
This update is great, the matchmaking is much better now than before the update. Some of the buffed abilities like Haunt & Bomb-Sniffer is very appreciated and it gives more options of staying fresh while being able to have decent skills during a match.
@ZAZX Gotta get that sweet, sweet YouTube money.
I'm on a busy bus, and it would be very awkward to turn up the volume on my phone and watch the video. A written article would be much better for this.
Should have typed the updates in bullet points to go along with the video.
I'll get back to splatting after I get tired of TPHD... which is getting close, because the SMM updates are verrrry interesting!
