As of late, Nintendo has been collaborating with a wide variety of companies to help increase its brand exposure. Just last week, for example, it announced a special partnership with social media giant, Facebook, to promote the upcoming Wii U title, Super Mario Maker.
This week, news has surfaced via Brazillian toy site T-Hunted, that the company will be reuniting with previous partner, American toy manufacturing company, Mattel, to release six Super Mario themed Hot Wheels cars. Four of those cars will feature a Super Mario Bros. 30th anniversary logo and the other two are based on Super Mario Kart and Dr. Mario.
- 8 Crate Delivery (Dr. Mario)
- A-OK (Mario Kart)
- Cool-One (Super Mario Bros. 2)
- Dairy Delivery (Super Mario Bros.)
- School Busted (Super Mario 3)
- Volkswagen T1 Panel Bus (Super Mario World)
All of these cars will reportedly be made available in October, but we’ll just have to wait and see. Let us know in the comments which one you like the most and if you’ll be buying one – or all of them – on release.
Thanks to Ryan Millar for the tip!

It appears that Nintendo is really trying to appeal to a person's nostalgia (at least more than they usually do) in order to help sell the game to more people, which is understandable considering the game. At least they are really trying to advertise the game I suppose.
Purchasing all 6 just show me where and when. Think I'll leave them in the packaging too...
My God, these are beautiful! Only Mario can make me buy toy cars.
Wow!! This looks absolutely rad! I'm getting them all for sure. Hope they don't become difficult to get like dem amiibo,
Makes sense, Nintendo fans are more toy collectors these days!
Well guess who's going to get all of those cause i'm a stupid collector of things? This guy!
errr!!! as if im not already dealing with an amiibo addiction, now i have these to hunt down.
I love the Super Mario Bros. 2 one, might pick some of these for my kids. They enjoy their Nintendo just like their father.
I can almost bet these won't have a wide distribution looking at the product. They look very non-primary market to me
Just take my hard earned money, Nintendo!!
Just take my hard earned money, Nintendo!!
I really never got into buying toy cars and these well cool, don't do anything to persuade me to go hunting for them come October.
I see myself buying 2 of each. Open 1 and leave the other closed.
I was expecting something much lamer but... these are kinda cool o.o
I don't even like cars and I m considering buying a few of these.
Well my kids will want them, but I'll also be buying double so I can keep some in the original packaging.
Even though I'm supposed to be past the age of buying toy cars I still want to collect Hot Wheels. If I see these I'm buying them, maturity be damned.
That Super Mario Kart hotwheels was completely wasted potential, they could have made it the standard kart in Mario Kart instead of just copying pasting it logo.
Ha! That's cute.
I was interested, but these are lamer than I was expecting.
The love the original game box design packaging. Definitely wouldn't open them.
Oh ho ho ho ho.
Wow.
WANT
I need them all to go with all my other Nintendo cars! Some fantastic games here!!
Hope they come to anywhere in Europe.
They look nice. Really nice.
I spoke with my dad (who used to be an avid Hot Wheels collector), and he said that some of those will probably be worth a few bucks simply because of the cars involved. So some may be harder to find than others
.......If only I could get them.
But its not really as appealing as the figure that I love and own though!
I am going to buy all of these.
Buying all of them. Probably two of each or more since I have two boys who love Mario lol they look awesome
Probably buying two of each so I can keep one set in the packaging and display the other.
This is the kind of exposure Nintendo needs to make leading up to NX release in the west.
All!
Shoulda made the molds for the actual Mario Kart 8 racers.
@AdanVC naw... We should all have a crack at them, it ain't Ninty in charge of stock! I already collect Hot Wheels (only those that catch my eye) so these are a sure thing!
@Ichiban I'd like to argue that... But then again read my previous post #36... I'll go back to my corner and play with my cars. y'all can join me, but no Amiibo allowed! Only cars.
I am 44 and I still collect Hot Wheels, and these will be added to my collection.
I have over 3500 and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
All my money is already flowing towards Nintendo I'm the coming months, I have no room for these in the budget.
I want them all!
I get all six but get two sets 1 set will be opened the other set will be in the box.
Oh, good. More under-produced, non-game Nintendo merchandise.
Hope you like eBay.
Better than those Star Wars hot wheels at least. Those are hilarious. These are okay, but anyone else confused by the choice of car for the one match up that makes sense, Mario Kart? Maybe it's an old racing roadster. I'm not a big car person.
Oh, and I should say, the more Nintendo gets these deals going the better. It's good to see this with Hot Wheels not Matchbox. As the K'nex Mario stuff was a bit of a disappointment when Lego could be such a great match up.
I bet Nintendo gets a lot more attention from toymakers now that amiibo is infamous for its rabid collectors.
I like Mattel and I love Nintendo so I'll try to get some of these.
Why are they all vans? Though the ambulance for Dr. Mario might be my fav
1 of each please.
Now, imo, these cars are the kind of cash-in crap I don't think Nintendo should be making and/or putting its name to. They're just random regular Hot Wheels toys with Mario slapped on them, and not in a particular creative or well designed fashion either. That doesn't add anything to the Nintendo brand, or associated franchises, at all imo; it just dilutes it/them and lowers the perception of quality associated with the Nintendo name.
There's literally hundreds-thousands of ways to market all these franchises in such a fashion that the end product actually fits with them in some way and/or adds to them—Frog Suit and Tanooki onesies; Mario Kart themed real life go-karting karts and race tracks; child sized toy versions of Link's sword and shield, Samus' helmet, Super Mario's cape, Kuribo's Shoe, etc.; Super Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Metroid, etc. Anime cartoons and feature films; Nintendo theme parks; cool figurine sets of all of Nintendo's characters, like the amiibos; playing cards themed on each of Nintendo's big franchises; Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Metroid, etc. fancy dress costumes; real life board games themed on the various franchises, done like classic D&D boards and figure sets but with the likes of Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, etc., Comics bases on all the big francise; Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero, etc. live action movies...
I get why Nintendo is going this, especially now, but there's a way to do it with taste and class. There's no need to just slap these franchises on anything and everything, even when it just looks half-*assed and forced, for the sake of a quick buck.
Wow just wow just wow just wow I need these on display on my wall!
NOW YOU'RE RACING WITH POWER!!!
I'm not going to lie.
If I somehow see one of these, I will buy them in a heartbeat.
I want the SMB3 and Dr. Mario the most.
Great! More cars to add to my wall of DeLorean toys.
Hot Wheels just tweeted this out to make it official. Will be getting these for my son.
