Rodea the Sky Soldier - originally led by Yuji Naka - has had a troubled route to Wii U and 3DS, after its original development for the Wii got stuck in limbo. Publisher Kadokawa Games eventually completed it for release, though it's sold very few copies in Japan since launch.
Not to be deterred, NIS America is bringing it to the West, though has today confirmed a delay from the original September dates; it'll now arrive in Europe on 13th October and North America on 16th October. As before, first print copies of the Wii U version will have the Wii original included as a bonus - there are also handsome special editions available.

As long as this comes out this year I will be happy.
Not a big deal. Looking forward to playing it.
I've got the special edition pre-ordered. Now if we can just get Yuji Naka's other game, Fishing Resort, in the EU... anyone?
Pre-ordered the special edition, but don't plan on opening it - will look for a good deal on the standard edition.
@GLA where did you pre-order? Online? Looking for a good deal on this myself
I'm excited about this. Doesn't the first edition of the Wii U game come with the Wii version?
this game looks insane, do you choose where to fly around or are you on rails?
@EllenJMiller YES! An HD version for WiiU, maybe, eh?
@readyletsgo http://store.nisaeurope.com/collections/pre-order
I wouldn't say the limited edition pre-order here is a good deal, but I just really wanted it.
@GLA thanks man, I'm looking for more like €32ish for it lol but now I know what to look for. Will the 3ds version be the same as the WiiU game? I need to read up on this future gem tbh
Meh. I've waited nearly five years for it. A month delay won't break it for me. At least this is coming out this year unlike a certain game which has been constantly delayed for many years cough Last Guardian cough.
I hope they put a gyro option into it and kick difficulty and speed up a notch. The controls seem to have become clunkier compared to original Wii version, and the game seems to be toned down a bit.
Yep, on my wishlist. Definitely get it when it comes here. Looks like a fun game, though it's a shame it sold so few copies in Japan, hope it does better in the west!
This isn't a big push back so we'll live. I hope it sells well outside of Japan.
Looks like a Wii game.
Good. Too much is coming out in September.
Will be getting the 3DS version. The Wii U version is too much for me. I have a limited amount each year to spend on video games.
Well this is making me nervous. October is always packed and this is one more game that I will have to save up for. ....Great time to be a gamer!!!
I'll definitely wait for reviews. I want to love this game, but it really hasn't wowed me so far.
Pre-ordered the limited edition. They've taken my money and it's too late to cancel now! Couple weeks delay is ok, the only other games I'm thinking of playing around then are AC: Syndicate and Battlefront.
@Samuel-Flutter Try reading the article.
@RainbowGazelle But I can't I'm illiterate.
Sorry I thought it did, but read someone say something about a special edition. My mind quickly jumped to the conclusion that I was remembering wrong.
@Samuel-Flutter Actually I thought the Wii copy only came with the special editions. Seems I need to read the article too!
I imported the game from Japan solely for the Wii version, and it was well worth it. The flying gives you a sense of exhileration that few other games can match, and made the levels a blast to play through whether you're scouring every corner of the map for gems and hidden medals or trying to set an S rank speedrun time. It's my Game of the Year so far. Everything I've seen of the 3DS and Wii U games makes them seem far inferior, unfortunately.
They should just start announcing later dates for their games, these delays for the Wii U... man.
I don't have much of a clue what this game is really about. Isn't any good?
Also the scenary looked like Wuhu Island and Skyloft in the trailer, which was very strange.
I don't know what to make of this game. I like it's concept, but the trailers shown don't look very promising. I'll wait for reviews.
I'm cool with waiting a little longer. Gives me more time to preorder the special edition. 3ds version baby!
I don't know why, but this delay makes me think they are filling in a gap in the Wii U releases and something else is set for September.
Are they afraid to release this in the wake of Splatoon and a possible late summer release for XCX?
I hope so...I want XCX!!!
Not my game
OK so the graphics aren't cutting edge, it still has that certain old school SEGAish charm to it. Graphic rude red echidnas need not apply.
Looks kind of like a cross between NiGHTS and Skies of Arcadia. That's a good thing.
Due to my limited funds, I have to decide between getting this game, or devil's third... Anyone got any ideas?
Hey, as long as it comes out strong and well made. Much better to wait longer for a finished product than to be disappointed by something that got rushed.
Funny enough, I happened to of pre-ordered Rodea the Sky Soldier quite recently. A short delay like this is nothing to bother me, it's still coming out this year so all is good and fine to me. I look forward to getting my hands on this game in October then.
I am entirely okay with this.
The gameplay video looks pretty interesting; especially the floating islands/continents! I hope the story is good.
