Adapting popular games to the Oculus Rift is all the rage these days, from Zelda to Metroid and beyond. Now it's Pokémon's turn to get the Oculus treatment, but it's not simply the goofy headset this time. Check out Pokémon being played with a virtual reality treadmill called the Virtuix Omni, where you walk in place and it translates that movement into the game:
This new hardware is perfect for Pokémon, where most of the experience involves walking places; maybe you can get a little exercise while you catch 'em all! The version of Pokémon being played with the Oculus Rift/Virtuix Omni setup is Pokémon 3D, a fan-made 3D remake of Pokémon Gold & Silver.
If this walking simulator tickles your fancy, you can pre-order a Virtuix Omni now for the low, low price of $499 — a bargain, yes? It includes the Omni platform itself, along with special shoes, belt, and tracking hardware and software.

That looks awkward to move in
What a waste.
@PrincessEevee9 What is it wasting, if I may ask?
Oculus, check. Virtuix, nope... Can I still play pokemon 3d?
@JayceJa Rofl nice one XD
Looks like an interesting way to play the game but i think ill stick to the regular way to play the game lol.
@JayceJa That made my day sir
I think I will get both the oculus and the treadmill. Hopefully some cool stuff. (A VR version of Alpine racer would be good.)
I would be nervous to walk on that, I'd love to try it though
@JayceJa lol, they'd need one very large coin to stick in THAT circle pad!
I already plan on getting an Oculus; that Virtuix thing I might consider later.
@MusicLov3r I was hoping if anything it'd be like the Super Training I guess.
Seems like a waste to use it on a crappy fanmade game, it'd be better to show off XY with Oculus + Omni, now that would be amazing.
That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen...
@Hit-Girl You kiddin? Its epic!
@PrincessEevee9
Like how? You mean the graphics?
Its just using a fan-made 3D remake of Pokemon Gold&Silver, the game wasn't built to use the Oculus Rift at all, so it doesn't really take advantage of it. Its just 2D sprites blown-up into 3D.
Boring, that Pokemon battle felt like a staring contest rather than an actual battle. Should had just used Heart Gold and Soul Silver instead.
@PrincessEevee9 oooh, that makes sense.
Interesting. I had this exact idea about 15 years ago... I was ten and figured it would never work.
This would solve the childhood Obesity epidemic in America.
This is so awesome!Maybe once this is perfected nintendo will create a fully 3d pokemon game for it.I really want one of these things and the treadmill is an interesting idea but it'd feel weird to move around wearing the headset.Are they heavy?I think the virtual boy might have inspried this,and i saw one at a yard sale and it looked really uncomfortable.(i know i misspelled things)
