The dazzling Rock/Fairy Pokémon Diancie has been known to us for some time now in the West, and while we patiently wait for an opportunity to acquire such a gem for our own copies of Pokémon X & Y, fans in Japan will have an opportunity to receive one while seeing the next Pokémon movie on 19th July.
According to Siliconera, attendees to showings of Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction will be able to receive a special level 50 Diancie with the moves Diamond Storm, Moonblast, Reflect, and Return. The latest trailer for the movie can be found below:
As if Diancie wasn't enough incentive, those who book their movie tickets in advance can unlock a titular Dark-type Darkrai as well. The Pitch-Black Pokémon will come with the moves Dark Void, Dark Pulse, Phantom Force, and Dream Eater.
It's not yet known whether these same types of offers will be available to fans in the West once the movie reaches our shores, although Diancie will definitely be coming in one form or another. Could either of these Pokémon become a pillar of your team?

@TopLaytonsHat No they don't they stopped after the 4th one I'm pretty sure. We have to get our Pokemon on wi-fi events.
@TopLaytonsHat Me too, i already miss out on a lot of "Download pokémon X at [store half the country away]" events, and Diancie seems like a fun pokémon to have, so a simple download-event would suit me just fine
cool i hope we get both of these or something similar, and soon!
They should put a code in the DVD box. Though watching my 2 kids fight over it would be bad for us.
Im guessing Gamestop/TRU as usual.
Another one of these movies? uhh...they movies are just ok at best. Not sure why japan needs to have them in theathers do..they usually look barely above the anime's standards
@TopLaytonsHat I seem to remember that the first Pokémon Black and White films (the paired ones) came out in cinemas! I think it was the first one since Pokémon Heroes...
Either way, I just hope they bring Diancie to us soon. As well as the other two hidden event Pokémon. They're the only ones still missing from my Dex!
For as big a deal they made of their "simulatenous global release", the non-Japan bonuses to X/Y elsewhere sure have been paltry or nonexistant. Why tout equality like that and then totally ignore it after the fact?
Does anyone else think of a rampaging Metapod when they read Cocoon of Destruction?
@Cinaclov Yes, the rampaging Metapod, as it makes you cry in fear of it's signature cruel, fearsome, devastating attack: Harden.
I hope these are wifi distributed. The recent code giveaway for Electabuzz and Magmar was so disappointing. Every store I went to had sold out on the first day or had not received any of the scratch cards.
@TopLaytonsHat @GloverMist
They showed Zoroark Master of Illusion in the malls for free during the pokemon black and white tour.
I haven't went to see a Pokemon movie in theaters since the Zoroark one, and that was just because my little niece begged me Though these movies are a big deal in Japan as, when a Pokemon is being distributed, you see pretty much the whole theater lit up with DS backlights of people recieving their Pokemon before the movie :3 I admit, it's a pretty fun experience I do like to catch these movies on tv instead though, as they're not too impressive.
I don't even think I've seen a Pokémon movie since the Darkrai one, let alone ones in cinemas. I'm really out of touch...
@DiscoDriver43 Probably because they're always in the top charts for summer movies in Japan.
@Fandabidozi It's very unlikely these will be WiFi.
If Darkrai is to come, they'll run the poll for it again. (Japan ran a poll to choose between Jirachi, Manaphy, Darkrai and Victini. Darkrai won and is being distributed)
Diancie will come, but will be an in-store event.
@Morgan19 The games were global release. They made no mention or promise of events being global release.
With events, context is key and 99% of the Japanese events would lose their context if brought over to the west. The Diancie event does have context, the movie, but the movie won't be out here until Autumn and as such, that's when the event will be.
Event Pokémon is one of the mechanics the franchise really needs to drop. As awesome as the series is, it shouldn't be so bureaucratic about the availability of the creatures themselves. Everyone should be able to get this or that Pokémon, without having to attend events. Here in Italy, it gets really frustrating, as most Event Pokémon are given at the yearly Pokémon Day event, held at an amusement park that, unless attendees live in its proximity, might require half a day just to get to. It makes no sense.
@AkinaChan oh you live in Japan? i was about to say, they still release Pokemon in theaters in the United States??
@Serebii I think you missed my point: I never said they "promised", I said it's odd to promote global-ness at release and then drop it after that. It's not just this one, it's every other event/special Japan's had since then that the rest of the world hasn't or never will.
@Morgan19 The global aspect was only intended for the release of the games.
As I explained, the other events haven't made it over because they would lose their context in doing so. The Happy Hour Inkay, for example, was for the opening of the Pokémon Center in Tokyo Bay, for which Inkay is a mascot. The newly announced Mega Evolution events are to tie in with a tournament being held in Pokémon Centers. These things would lose context if brought over and be completely pointless.
There's also the aspect that if more places in the west were willing to hold events, then there would be more events.
It would be pretty cool if we did get all the events they get in Japan. But I guess so as long as in America we can get the major ones it's okay.
i hope we get it soon
@DiscoDriver43 I actually grew up in Japan, but I've been living in the States the past few years for college :3 and yeah lol, I've heard the last Pokemon movie in western theaters was a loooong time ago
Looking forward to getting Diancie.
@TopLaytonsHat ideally it is better but all the other nintendo regions don't do anything in terms of wifi events. surprisingly, japan gets more wifi downloads on top of these movie events.
