Sands that stretch for miles? Golden ruins, abandoned to time? A bustling street market run by Shy Guys? That's what you'll find in Mario Kart World's Desert area, along with plenty of collectibles to scramble after.
Desert Hills and Shy Guy Bazaar are the only two courses in this region, but the desert is vast and full of secrets — and we'll be covering all those collectibles you can grab in Free Roam in this guide. P Switch Missions - 'Desert'
Desert P Switch Map
Situated on the far west of the map, the Desert is a pretty big area, covering the south stretch from Desert Hills to the north, Shy Guy Bazaar, and the small island just north of it and below the lava region.
You'll see where all of those big, blue buttons and missions in and around Desert Hills and Shy Guy Bazaar are marked on the map up top — some are in plain sight amidst the dunes, while others are hidden in the ruins and markets. Here's where to find all 38 missions in the desert.

Location: On a desert ledge far southwest of Shy Guy bazaar, northeast of Desert Hills, and west of Mario Bros. Circuit, near two large purple flags

Mission: "Collect blue coins in the dried-up oasis!"
Location: On a rocky outcrop in the desert, close to P Switch 21, and west of Mario Bros. Circuit

Mission: "Tackle a sandy test of endurance!"
Location: Near the desert oasis ruins, directly north of Desert Hills, and of Mario Bros. Circuit (close to 21 and 22 on the map)
Mission 24
Mission: "Travel across the bridge, tricking all the way!"
Location: To the left of the railway tracks above a large quicksand whirlpool. It's in the desert across the river north of Shy Guy Bazaar, and you can see Airship Fortress to the north

Mission: "Cruise along the curving route to reach the goal!"
Location: At the northern point of the desert, just before the ramp up to Airship Fortress

Location: On a raised section of sand, east of the large quicksand whirlpool

Mission: "Rescue blue coins from the sands!"
Location: Under the train track bridge, north of the big quicksand whirlpool

Mission: "Grab the blue coins and don't sink!"
Location: On a rock inside the eastern section of the large quicksand whirlpool

Mission: "Cool off at the oasis while grabbing blue coins!"
Location: On a rock southeast of the biggest quicksand whirlpool

Mission: "Race down the river and escape to the sea!"
Location: On the riverbank, northeast of Shy Guy Bazaar

Location: Enter the front entrance to the palace in Shy Guy Bazaar and take the path left. Enter the left of two green Warp Pipes to find a dark room with the Switch in it

Mission: "Sprint to the goal through a sea of sand!"
Location: Above the mountain tunnel between Shy Guy Bazaar and Desert Hills. Follow the train tracks from the Wild West Region to reach this high-up spot in the mountains

Location: On a raised level near some pillar ruins, southeast of Desert Hills

Mission: "Race through a storm of rain and coins!"
Location: On a raised section near the 'Mario Kart' bridge in the middle of the desert. On the map, it's on top of the palm tree directly south of Shy Guy Bazaar

Mission: "Pass by plenty of Pokeys partying on the path!"
Location: Next to a Yoshi's drive-thru, east of Shy Guy Bazaar

Mission: "Dash wisely to reach the goal in time!"
Location: On a raised bit of land next to the winding north-eastern path into the region
Mission 38
Mission: "Weave around the treacherous tornadoes!"
Location: On a cliff in the desert overlooking the purple Yoshi's east of Shy Guy Bazaar
