Dunk Lords (Switch eShop)

Mark reckons that Dunk Lords hangs with the big b-ballers:

This is as close as you'll get to playing an 'EA BIG' game on the Switch, and that should instantly explain whether this game is for you or not. For fans of NBA Jam, NBA Hangtime, NBA Street and so on.

Fable of Fairy Stones (Switch eShop)

walt likes the voxel vibes of Fable of Fairy Stones.

This is an old-school RPG and the goal is to collect 9 stones to beat the last boss.
I enjoyed it because it reminds me JRPG of SFC era, having a classical map and battles with weapons of my choice. There are even 100 levels of hidden stages after the last boss.
However, what makes it unique is its beautiful voxel art style. Its detailed and colorful style makes what SFC devs wanted to do back then to come true. It simply raises JRPG to the next level!
The story is dramatic but also sad, giving you nostalgic mixed feeling.

Flynn: Son of Crimson (Switch eShop)

NL contributor and thoroughly nice chap Nathan Lockard is in with Flynn:

Flynn: Son of Crimson feels like an homage to Shovel Knight, with tight platforming, satisfying melee combat, and a level-based structure with a world map and branching exits. It even lifts Shovel Knight's recoverable money penalty for dying. (Wait a minute - is Shovel Knight retro?! Double retro?) Give it a go if you're a fan of 16-bit era platformers, or a good doggo.

Gibbon: Beyond The Trees (Switch eShop)

Jaka Kragelj goes ape for Gibbon: Beyond The Trees:

I love that the game made me appreciate the abilities of apes called gibbons.
The game is a simple platformer using three buttons to control the actions. The catch is to learn how to read the environment and predict what's coming. The way platforming paths were drawn into the environment impressed me (You can bounce off the sun shade sails and parasols!).
It's not competitive (no score, no time) so it's for those who enjoy optimizing flow. It offers a daily run though.
Playing it on Switch 2 fixes frame rate slowdowns that occasionally happened on Switch.

Grand Prix Story (Switch eShop)

Mark is back with a shoutout for Kairosoft's cute GP sim:

Out of all the Kairosoft 'management' games on the Switch, Grand Prix Story is the best one I've played. There's always something to do (unlike some of the other ones where you're sitting and waiting for something to happen) and the races are genuinely exciting to watch. If you're a fan of Nintendo Pocket Football Club and you want something similar on Switch, then this is like a racing version of that formula.

Hyper Team Recon (Switch eShop)

MBlaze has recently been playing Hyper Team Recon:

An adorable 3D platformer with paper-inspired visuals. It's not too difficult, but super fun. The cast is so fun and lively, the levels have a good length and there are some bite-sized challenges to do in the hub world. Cutscenes play out like a Visual Novel and the scenes are so full of life and charm!

If Found... (Switch eShop)

Genevieve recommends If Found...

If Found is a visual novel about a woman returning home to her small town on a break from her grad program to have to navigate transphobia while trying to find support and achieve her goals. All the while, an otherworldly plot is paralleled with her experiences. Heartbreaking, brilliant, and inventive with the use of its storytelling and interaction.

ISLANDERS New Shores (Switch eShop)

We liked the first Islanders, and npicone enjoyed the second one:

This is a chill city-building puzzle game that's a sequel to 2019's Islanders. You place buildings and score points based on where they are compared to other buildings, terrain, etc. The game takes what was good about the original and expands on it with new building types and one-time power-ups you unlock from time to time. The graphics have gotten a nice boost, too, while still maintaining the minimalist style of the original.

Kitten Lost Her Box (Switch eShop)

FishyS returns with a feline favourite:

Kitten Lost Her Box is an adorable precision platformer where you are a kitten...and levels end in a box to nap in. The game is extremely short - you will likely beat it in one session - but quite enjoyable. The bosses are really cute and fun and take the game from a standard platformer to something memorable.

Mini Motorways (Switch eShop)

Dinosaur Polo Club's Mini Motorways drove Ben to a recommendation:

Mini Motorways is a minimalist, deceptively complex strategy game about drawing roads to connect houses to destinations. Each week, new houses, destinations, and road pieces appear, demanding you constantly rethink and redraw your city's traffic network to prevent gridlock.
What sets it apart is the elegant tension between its calming aesthetic and its stressful, high-stakes traffic management puzzle. The challenge isn't just if you can connect everything, but how efficiently, before the system inevitably collapses. I love the clean, hypnotic flow of a successful city and the intense, escalating problem-solving required to keep it alive.

Mute Crimson DX (Switch eShop)

recastanho comes around for another flyby with Mute Crimson DX:

Ninja Gaiden meets Super Meat Boy.

Can't argue with that.
