Review Metal Slug 4 (Wii Virtual Console / Neo Geo)
Fourth time a charm?
If there's one thing that can be said with any degree of certainty, it's that SNK's Metal Slug series always remained fairly consistent over the course of their releases. The gameplay remained pretty much the same, with little more than a few tweaks here and there for good measure. Metal Slug 4 was developed by Korean firm Mega...

Gallery Finally, Metal Slug Has The Official Book It Deserves
"Thank you!"
Metal Slug is arguably one of the few series from the '90s which has managed to endure and persist despite the passage of time and the advances of technology; it seems that blowing up 2D sprites has a timeless quality to it, and we've personally been really enjoying revisiting these classic games on Switch. If you're a fan of the...

War has rarely been this much fun
Metal Slug is unique in the world of gaming as being a hardcore run-and-gun shooter which practically everyone has heard of. Despite the fact that it launched on the super-exclusive Neo Geo system in the mid '90s when the world was going giddy over 3D visuals, the first title in the franchise found a solid fanbase...

About The Game
Metal Slug 4 is the fifth installment in the Metal Slug series.
Choose from four different mercenaries and battle against the terrorist group "Amadeus". Skillfully jump and shoot your way through enemies while picking up items to replenish your weapons. Like in the previous games, you can ride vehicles and fight rigorously against enemies. Furthermore, Metal Slug 4 introduces the all-new Metallish System, an interesting bonus scoring system that puts a new spin on things. Additionally, there are new items and characters, creating a fresh new take on the Metal Slug universe.

I'm always on the fence about Metal Slug 4. There is nothing really wrong with it, but it's a very obvious cut and paste job by Mega (which Playmore had make this one after buying the right from SNK). There is very little in this game that you literally have not seen before if you have played 1-3 and X. Its a fun game though, it's more Metal Slug and that's always good. I would recommend playing all of the previous installments first though, as this feels like a step sideways for the series, and compared to the brilliant Metal Slug X, maybe a bit lacking.
